Eva Evdokimova remains a wonderful inspiration. She is still my favorite in the role. An otherworldly spirit she hovers light as air itself. Her precision footwork and exquisite musicality, the delicate and sensory use of her arms, hands and neck....
    I have seen nothing better.
Thank you for posting this clip.

"Otherworldy" is the right description: I have never, ever seen such a sylph. And all done with small jumps, small extensions, turns that are "unprepared" and just part of the flow of movement. This is pure delight.

      Vicky K
      hi Vicky
yes, they seem to me ideally suited to their roles here - yes, i used to think as a kid of Bournonville as just light and airy - but it can be strongly masculine too - as shown here.

she was absolutely lovely ,once l saw her taking private lessons in small studio of dame CLEO NORDI in 78 one of the few then still living ballerinas from pavlova's company eva was so sweet modest and serene. PETER ? what to say? TREMENDOUS TERRIFIC

pediatrapaola - i agree - she embodies the sylph way beyond mere technique - and yes i love Schaufuss, the clean crisp footwork is so needed for the style of this ballet. totally satisfying cast.

Jacqui B isn't it! the period style is beautifully rendered - and not just an exercise in museum preservation - it's alive for its day.
