    They are the GOATs of a Capella! I hope I get to see them live at least once

    They are quite vulnerable - and that makes the performance intimate - no matter how many are in the audience

    It’s live performances like this that prove they are the real deal. This concert was amazing. They hadn’t performed in months, and this was the first concert that they put on after Kirsten had her baby. There are many high-quality live stream performances for this concert on RUclips. Everything is great.

    When they do this in concert it is MAGIC!! You could hear a pin drop. Masterpiece.

    It’s the magical 5 part harmony that is so soothing and special.

    They do a pure acapella song like this at every concert where they put down their microphones and stand together and just sing. I’ve seen them do this song, and also their original song Run To You which was inspired style-wise by this song, (which they have always loved, but didn’t cover until 2021) This tour they are doing Elvis’s Can’t Help Falling in Love With You. I’ve seen a fan cam video, and it’s incredible, I can’t wait to hear it live next month! Don’t worry, we fans appreciate the speechless appreciation because it means you’re one of us, lol. They leave us all tongue-tied.

    For an Original that is very similar to this - ie 5 part harmony with no beat box - try Run to You. It's with Avi instead of Matt. It was written by Avi and Kevin with input from the others as well. If you get a live version, it is done very much the same as this with the group gathered around a 'ghost light' (it's a theatre term for a single light that is always left on on the stage between productions) The one I got to see live almost ten years ago they used no mic. Scott explain what they wanted to do and ask for everyone to be quiet. An audience of about 8-10,000 and you could have heard a pin drop, we were all so captivated by it - fortunately the acoustics in the auditorium was excellent and everyone could hear them. It was incredible!

      Adding - the Official version is really good too and has some very simple but awesome visuals effects - 'simple' except that when filming parts of it the group had to learn how to sing some of the lyrics backwards! It's worth a watch.

    Yes, The Trio sang the first verse and then it was Pentatonix after that.
    Recommend their original of Happy Now.

    They are just impeccable, and the crowd is so quiet in appreciation, which is equally as impressive. If you want to check out some originals, try Coffee in Bed, Love Me When I Don’t and Anchor. For what is arguably their most ebullient original, give Sing a listen. Loved your reaction! There are a bunch of videos from this Hollywood Bowl concert if you want to see more of that. Peace …

    Have you ever reacted to Pentatonix on the sing off? Shawn Stockman from boyz to men was a judge and he’s unofficially considered the first Pentaholic.

    • @NavyDoc5184Reacts
      @NavyDoc5184Reacts  Месяц назад +1

      I haven't yet, but I think that has been suggested a couple of times. I may try to do it, but sometimes doing stuff from talent shows is hard cuz they are VERY stingy when it comes to copyright stuff

    • @margretrosenberg420
      @margretrosenberg420 Месяц назад

      @@NavyDoc5184Reacts There are a couple of RUclips channels that have all of those performances posted, apparently without problems from NBC, and other reactors have had fewer copyright problems reacting to #PTX on _The Sing-Off_ than reacting to PTX official videos. The biggest problem is the quality of those old videos, which were probably recorded from someone's television. I wish NBC would release their original recordings, but I don't think it's likely to happen.
      If you decide to react to them, look for the recordings that include the introduction of Pentatonix, the judges' critiques, and any comments Pentatonix made backstage afterwards. The show had a cameraman following them around between episodes and parts of those videos were played when the band was being introduced; the judges acted as mentors as much as judges (and Pentatonix very much took their critiques to heart); and the comments backstage speak for themselves.
      Shawn Stockman's critiques were especially delightful; he seemed to think that the main reason he was there was to have fun and he had the most fun with Pentatonix's performances.
      Also, it's best to react to them in order, to watch Babytonix growing into the band we know and love today. They got ONE bad critique from the judges, on their second performance, and in the nearly 13 years that have passed since they have never made the same mistake again.

    "Light In The Hallway"
    "Kid On Christmas"
    "Please Santa Please"
    "The Lucky Ones"
    "Thank You"
    "Be My Eyes"
    "Sing"
    "Love Me When I Don't"
    "Can’t Sleep Love"

    "Midnight in Tokyo"
    "New Years Day"

    They were singing to 17,000 people. It was a sold out concert. The crowd cooperated by keeping quiet. Thanks for the reaction. You should react to 90s Dance Medley and Daft Punk at the same venue.
    All 5 are singing. Kevin the beatboxer is also a high tenor.

    @NavyDoc5184Reacts Try some Throat Coat Tea from Traditional Medicinals. Look for the original version, not the one with echinacea. Don't add anything sweet to it until you've tasted it; it's naturally sweet. It should make your throat feel better.
    And get tested for COVID.

      @@NavyDoc5184Reacts Glad you're feeling better and very glad it wasn't something really dangerous.
      Regarding Throat Coat Tea, I'm a member of a filk group ( en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Filk_music ). We meet once a month or so to sing, um, unusual songs. Everybody gets a turn; no one criticizes; we just have fun together. Since the pandemic began our meetings have been largely via Zoom, but whenever I'm attending a filk in person I brew enough Throat Coat Tea to fill a small thermos and take it along. It helps immensely when the voice gets hoarse.

      That was a great video. I have seen that before, but just due to the personal nature of the video decided I probably won't include that in any reaction, wouldn't feel right to do so. I will say that it does provide amazing testament to the character of the group. We already know how awesome they are as people, but a video like that definitely helps solidify it.
