Hot water heat is less maintenance. Work at a school had to maintain steam boiler for 40 years .last summer renovated heating system to hot water. Two cleaver brooks high efficiency boilers state of the art I love them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Were you an operating engineer? Or maintenance? I’m a maintenance steamfitter at a university. I like what I do and don’t find the maintenance to be that bad . The hard part is getting the university to cough up the money to fix what needs to be fixed. I understand a modern hot water system being much easier to maintain but then that wipes away a lot of jobs
@@D_I_D1517 it was a 200hp York Shipley low pressure steam. I did everything to it but retubing it and fire eye control. Opened it up every two years for inspection. Had it re tubed 2 times in 40 years. First lasted from 1982 2007. 2007 to 2017. Sometimes good water treatment people are hard to find that why I hate steam. New system 30% glycol.

Yes proper water treatment has always been ignored as well as lack of preventative maintenance
