    Thank you, Father. I needed this because I strayed for years from my Lord into buddhism and gnosticism. There you find principles of no self. You're not God's creation, you're an illusory vessel of suffering that needs to figure out the cosmos on your own. It has harmed me as straying does, but I'm finding healing again in the ultimate truth with Christ. This message feels God sent for me.

    Thank you so very much for this beautiful word on the importance of our names ❤ I have been studying the importance of names (throughout Scripture as well as our own names) for the last few years. I am active in the political sphere with regard to legislation protecting children from the harms of gender ideology. It is striking to me how our enemy seeks to subvert the order of God with regard to the holiness of our names. Thank you for your wisdom and may God continue to heal and restore you from your current sickness.

    This is not standard practice in any parish I've been a member of. The only time anyone asked me to state my name was when the priest didn't know me. In 27 years, the vast majority of time I did not say my name. The priest, who knows me, said my name.

    Did st John of Kronstadt not do general confession?

    • @Osafune2
      @Osafune2 7 месяцев назад +2

      St John of Kronstadt regularly had thousands of people wanting confession specifically from him. It was an exception rather than a rule and generally into church practice. General confession in the early church involved the penitent saying his sins aloud before all, instead of quietly before the feast and so was different than what many think of as a general confession now

    The only reflection you need is why we are so divided when Christ prayed for unity. This saying your name is not scriptural and having a name of Saint is not scriptural as well.

    • @Hannah-if3cn
      @Hannah-if3cn 7 месяцев назад

      We Orthodox are not Sola Scriptura, because the scriptures state that not everything Christ taught could be contained in the scriptures. However, you are incorrect to say this teaching and tradition is not in the scriptures. Christ renamed His Disciples.

    • @therighteousrighthand
      @therighteousrighthand 7 месяцев назад

      @@Hannah-if3cn He renamed one or two of them..if he renamed all 12 then I would agree with them the tradition.

    Jesus only had a first name I was told. I used to think his full name was Jesus Harold Christ, but this is not accurate. Perhaps a full, 3 part Christian name per mans tradition? Interesting! In the days of Jesus, proper names were a name and a place, like Jesus of Nazareth, and Saul of Tarsus. Our Lord has other first names, Emmanuel, Yeshua, and some Africans say Jesu, pronounced Jay Soo.
    Praise all of the Names of our Lord! A.D. 2024 A.D. !

      @robertsirico3670 I honestly used to think that when I was uneducated, from watching television, that it was his full name, and that people were named that way back then. So, I typed it only for educational and display purposes, and not as an expression. The popular interpretation is noted. Thank you, this is a very good point. This has been a good clarification lesson, first name only (one name back then), within a place added, for proper way to use names of people of that day.. interesting, I am now off to learn when names started having last and middle parts. Praises to Yeshua, I am glad to be more correct about using this precious name! Silly, and bad that I used to think names always had three parts.. I actually wondered what the invented H stood for for many years, finally, in a random Army movie, some drill sergeant blasted out the whole fictional name, and my friend and I looked at each other and said "Harold!" simultaneously while smiling.. we both were wondering.. good lesson Indeed.. I will leave it posted for educational purposes, but now I know and will type more carefully in the future. Shalom and G-d (Hashem) Bless!

      @robertsirico3670 also, I've learned to understand some confusion now, see, the Jewish Talmud mentions 2 Messiahs, of Yosepf, and of David. Yeshua is of David's DNA, but, his "Stepfather" was also a Joseph (Yoseph) , oh goodness, hope it's clear to you now too! Some Messianic Jews debate if this is the first or second coming, glad you mentioned this!

    • @timmiller7338
      @timmiller7338 7 месяцев назад

      @robertsirico3670 ok, Yeshua bar Yoseph is proper for him then, but it doesn't stick until now because Yoseph was his stepfather. So we say Jesus of Nazareth these days. Now it is clearer, and nicer to say His name that way. Take care, Blessings to you!
