- Downtown Phoenix is the central business district of the City of Phoenix, Arizona, USA. It is located in the heart of the Phoenix metropolitan area or Valley of the Sun. Phoenix, being the county seat of Maricopa County and the capital of Arizona, serves as the center of politics, justice and government on the local, state and federal levels. The area is a major center of employment for the region, with many financial, legal, and other national and international corporations housed in a variety of skyscrapers. Major arts and cultural institutions also call the area home. Downtown Phoenix is a center of major league sports activities, live concert events, and is an equally prominent center of banking and finance in Arizona. Regional headquarters for several major banks, including JP Morgan Chase, Wells Fargo, US Bank, Bank of America, Compass Bank and Midfirst Bank are all located within or close proximity to the area.

Thanks for showing our lovely Downtown Phoenix. It's really come a long way. 25 years ago it was just a series of vacant lots and abandoned businesses. There actually is more of Downtown Phoenix than what you filmed. Some areas have improved others there is not much to see. Love your posts keep up the good work. 👍
Thanks for watching!

U ain't lying. I was there for 8 summers. Dude it was so hot as hell. 🔥 I saw the devil walking with flip flops and a Sombrero on.
yep. i have been there once in august and i see why no one walks outside. i dont blame them
So quiet, clean and not a cloud in the sky. Can’t wait to move from grey Ohio.
Just go for it. I'll be there there soon too. I'm from San Diego.

I grew up in the Phoenix area in the early 90s… it is insane to see how it’s changed!! The light rail was a smart investment by the city
Is it true Phoenix is the coldest city in the country?
@@eddiew2325 the desert can be very cold at night. It can be surprising. But overall… no 😂 it is unbelievably hot there. I left after college because I couldn’t stand it anymore. And it’s only becoming more populated and hotter
One thing I notice about downtown Phoenix compared to so many other major cities is how spread out everything is. Fascinating. Great opportunities for infill.
Wow! Downtown Phoenix, Az is soo clean compared to those big cities back east. Just Beautiful!

Go a mile outside of this and it looks like a 3rd world country
I live in Phoenix for 5 years is a cool city 😎
I still live in Phoenix
I’m from Manchester (UK) and this looks like absolute paradise to me. Fun fact, where I work in the city, there was a puddle I walked past everyday that was there for 10 months without evaporating. That’s how wet and cold it is in Manchester 😂
Reminds me of a bigger more populated El Paso with actual Skyscrapers. In my opinion it's beautiful, and I'm from Chicago where the Skyscraper was invented, but yea Phoniex definitely has potential. I wish El Paso looked like this.
U saying El Paso is a dump?. Thinking about moving there. Any feedback would be helpful..
I love this town very clean streets and backyards
I love how peaceful and empty the streets are. Where I'm from, there's always a rush of people and cars everywhere.
May I ask where?

Downtown Phoenix has a lot of potential. It does actually get more populated than this and the artsy culture is more centered here but it's still pretty lonely after hours :/ The Fry's that they implemented helped a lot imo! First Fridays are awesome but covid probably put that to sleep too. covid changed a lot of stuff
It's like a ghost town! Where is everyone??? Apart from that, beautiful city !
Covid lockdown of 2020
It's hot.
@@rbrrrd Hey I live in Queensland Australia, a tropical state that's always hot and humid but you wouldn't know it !
There are always people walking around the main cities regardless of the Heat
Arizona is a dry place with desert heat and not as bad to deal with as 90% Humidity.
@@andysalter7192 It's not that it's hot. The person who replied to you misinformed you. The reason is cause it's during the pandemic. Video was shot in 2020.
Very beautiful city. God bless you!
the only time you'll see people in downtown Phx is Mon-Fri 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and during Suns and Dbacks games.
@@donnyvgemini1692 Does not matter. Only people outside are homeless or lost their drivers license for multiple DUI's. Combination of ungodly heat and unwalkable distances between any and all locations means no one walks. Shortest walk to a store from my house (in the middle of phoenix) is a mile both ways, and it is 117 out today. This city sucks balls, I have no idea why anyone moves here.
I love this sleeping town.

A downtown area with no people. Yup, that sounds like Phoenix.
So where are the people? Because of the heat?

Cool tour!

I wish we had more skyscrapers downtown
I know! I do, too. 5th largest city in the country and we don't have a skyscraper or a downtown that shows the cities identity.
We're getting there! Give it a few more years and downtown will look much much different!
Give it 5 years and I think we will have a couple 500+ foot skyscrapers. That isn't all that tall but it's something. I just want it to be dense and have a real entertainment district.
@@user-nv2mr6nn7c for how long Phoenix has been top 10 I doubt there will be huge skyscrapers in Phoenix all the sudden in 5 years. And a reason for no towers is because of the airport so don't get your hopes up
@@nobrang5146 there's going to be alot of high rises going up but only one is planned for 530+ feet tall so not much but still good considering that the current tallest was built in 1973. Downtown is growing but we will never see any real skyscrapers here unfortunately.

I hope I will love this city! Will be moving to Phoenix in the coming months. I'm "starting my startup" and I'm doing gigs, such as ride-share, food delivery ... on the side. The long distances could mean less hassle - I hate short Uber drives etc. Can anyone starting their business in the Phoenix area (incl. Scottsdale) share - what flexible side gigs do you do in Phoenix, that pay decent money/the rent?
How did the move go? I know it's a bit late!

Butifull ture thanks for you
Nice video. Probably filmed on a Sunday. It's been 2 years and in that time there's been quite a bit of new construction. Mainly condos, as they are expecting thousands of people to move here. The downtown area is nice and has been taken over by ASU, U of Arizona and NAU. They have a huge presence in downtown Phoenix now (2022). With the expansion, there are frequent road construction delays. And of course the video doesn't go to far off the main drag, as there are homeless encampments now near by. But the city keeps that somewhat under control.
omg...come on covid_19 😷 i miss days the people in USA ❤️🇺🇸 and thank you for this video 🙏
why phoenix looks so clean and seem to have much better urban infrastructure than most of the american cities?
We are a relatively new city in comparison to others. Surrounding cities such as Gilbert, and queen Creek were all fields and farms 30 years ago when I moved here.
That’s the impression I get of Arizona’s big cities.
If you’re comparing to Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, New Orleans, Minneapolis, they all have one thing in common. They share the same party of government leadership. If you look at Texas cities like Dallas/Houston, Florida cities like Naples, Sarasota, and Arizona cities like Phoenix and Scottsdale, you’ll notice that they don’t have many of the problems that true *blue* cities do.
@@syberpunk what’s about Austin tx ?!
I thought Phoenix looks one of the most boring and ugliest when it comes to urban infrastructure. I've lived here for 10 years.
Excellent work. You get a gold medal.
Thank you! Cheers!
@@donnyvgemini1692 you can hear the, water fountain, the car sounds, the pedestrians, the naked voice of the city . Why? Because there is no music deliberately overlapping the main character, the city. If there was music ( hip hop beat sucks ) laced through out this video, then you would be dealing with 2 characters, the city and the music.
This footage somewhat makes Arizona look clean.. Downtown can be clean in some places cause its more condensed and there is nobody walking around usually in downtown Phoenix in July.. But if you try going to one of our city parks or somewhere nearby the i-17 or like Cave Creek Park on Thunderbird and Cactus.. Oh boy.
What day of the week was this video shot? The streets are awfully quiet. I have lived here all my life.
i'll take the heat over cold any day........
No you won't
Depends on what type of cold. I hate the summer here and would take the cold any day.
WOW WHAT A GHOST TOWN
Seriously, hottest city in the USA, probably 110 outside and in the middle of a pandemic. Very good reasons why nobody is out and about.
Yup, pandemic. You should check out videos of how empty Times Square is!
@@s.hocker9222 then why tf do people move to Phoenix all the time? Such a useless and lifeless "city"
@@nobrang5146 Well its not like Phoenix is totally void of things to do. We have some of the best Mountains and nature trails in the Southwest. The weather in Phoenix is gorgeous eight months out of the year. If you want to take advantage of other major cities such as San Diego and Las Vegas they are within a five hour drive or an hour flight.

I was stationed at the former Williams air Force Base outside Chandler in 1985.
I don't recognize one single thing!
Williams air Force Base is now polytechnic Arizona State.
It was pretty empty back then.... but it's empty now due to the virus 😁
"Empty back then." I was born in Phoenix in 1932. There were no one way streets. The tallest buildings were the Hotel Westward Ho, The Luhrs and the Jefferson, and the Luhrs Tower also on Jefferson and Central. Talk about changes, well, even we do too, don't we?
I used to live in Queen creek Arizona with my brother and honestly the only thing i really hated was because i would drive for Lyft And sometimes i would get a ride but it takes about 30 to 45 minutes depending on traffic but it would take awhile Queen creek to the Phoenix airport isn't close

god damn I was in phoenix in july and it was 106. must have been hot AF this day.
What time of day is this? I expected lots of pedestrians. This is peaceful.
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
My sister is moving there tomorrow. Is it so empty because of COVID or because it is a hot weekend summer day? We are from both native New Yorkers, seems quite different from downtown Manhattan.
Polar opposite of New York City.
Nice camera work, very smooth.
Why do all southern, American cities look and feel the same? That is one very quite city!
They look the same because they are newer cities and don't have the classic architecture that New York or Chicago has.
Micheal Lopez is right! Phoenix is such a young city and most of its buildings were built recently. Architects nowadays favor the “function over form” ideology so that’s why most of the buildings look modern and lack the classic detailed architecture.
Arizona isn’t “southern”
Southwestern.
I’m going to PHX July4th

Wher's the people, maybe is about warm, empty town,is beautiful, and really modern but few folks
It’s very clean, because no one wants to be outside...

No, it's because most of us care and follow the law. I live in Phoenix and most of us just do what we are supposed to.do.
I wonder why the majority of buildings and roofs of these are not painted white to lower the temperature in them, is that not prohibited when you have your own house

Would anyone be able to help with a question I have, so I am looking to move to Phoenix, or Reno, and plan on living in an RV, and I know it gets really hot in Phoenix but seems like there is more to do in Phoenix, but I think temperature wise, Reno would be better, idk, is the heat really that bad ??
Yes, four months out of the year it gets 100 degrees plus (May thru September). Phoenix's highs are only 70 degrees most of the year (November thru April). Reno has much cooler weather than Phoenix in summer with highs in the low to mid 90's. Reno has very cold winters around 23 degrees in December. So its a compromise for both cities.
I moved from Buffalo 20 years ago and it was the best decision I've ever made. Yeah it's hot, but you get used to it after a year or two and it's worth it for how beautiful it is here. Everyone just stays inside and in the shade more in the summer, then you're fine. Blows away Reno, no question.
Yes,the heat is very bad..
It is hot in summer, but mornings can be okay most days. When the humidity is low being in the shade makes all the difference. The direct sun is intense. The rest of the year is gorgeous.
on paper it doesnt really make sense for me to move but i really want to live here

I live in Chicago and in comparison their downtown looks so empty. LOL. I love the sun and palm trees but phoenix may be too hot for me.
I suppose it was on lockdown at this time, it seems empty.
No, AZ opened up in May. People just don’t want deadly sun lasers beating them down
THE SUN IS A DEADLY LASER
What day of the week was this filmed? It's hard to believe that this is America's 5'th largest city! It looks more like a Des Moines or Greensboro. I live in Virginia Beach VA which has around 400,000 and traffic here is much heavier than what appears to be Central Phoenix! It's kinda weird to see such a empty big city!
July 2020. That was when we had the pandemic and the city was in lockdown. It's usually busy as hell. Annoyingly busy tbh.
