    I’m gunna ruffle some feathers here but it is what it is. I’ve been backpacking and long distance hiking for years and I’ve learned a lot by actually being out for day to weeks. Your most important piece of gear is clothing. Like he mentioned you can get cold real quick even in warmer climates due to rain and wind. Have set of clothes in there base layer, some sort of mid, a jacket or hoodie then rain gear. Next is sleep shelter. Have an insulated pad and either a wool blanket or sleeping bag a tarp or light weight tent. Then is water/food which he said good options I’ve used what he showed. Here’s where you get into fantasy you do not need shovels, axes, multiple knives, flashlights or any fishing/hunting items. It’s 72hr emergency bag. You’re not building shelters or hunting. You’re not going homesteading point blank period you’re going from one destination to another. You need to cover ground not out for a fish or hunt. Have some meals in the bag. Next for those who have done 10s of miles with a pack on, weight is extremely important when covering distance and minimizing injury. You want to be as light as you can. I carry a lightweight mora knife and a small headlamp. You don’t need anything else. I’m to the point where I can have a full pack with frame support, tent, clothes, gear, food and water for a full week and am right under 30lbs. If you want to find some very tried and true gear for living outdoors look at the gear thru hikers use.

      For the most part I agree with all you said. Stupid axe, shovel, multi-tools, etc is all just extra ounces and we know what that =. Good weather appropriate clothing, tarp, water, food, knife! The rest is just silly.

    Love this concept! I think it's so much fun to put together B.O.B.s for people, or get home bags for their car. Expensive but awesome gift to give a loved one or friend.

    Living in the Deep South I would add:
    1. Sunscreen
    2. Insect Repellent.
    Could the fishing kit tube be used as a bobber? I don’t think AS has bank-line, but it of course has multiple uses. I agree about Bic Lighters, but I now keep mine in a “Made for Bic”sleeve. You put together a good kit! You may not be comfortable, but you would be alive.
    I’m looking for light weight perimeter alarms, but most seem heavy. You are providing a great service, that may save lives. Thank You!

      For what? You are NOT going out into the woods during a SHTF situation and "surviving". Stop it.

    A military poncho a woobie with that space blanket can make a pretty decent sleep system. Also known as a ranger roll. Let me also mention that this is a nice and informative video. I would like to also mention to replace that cheap compass with a decent base plate compass such as a Suunto and learn how to use it and while you're at it I would add a topo map of the area that you may be traveling through

    Currently we have Academy, and Dick’s. The closest Bass Pro/ Cabelas is over 100 miles away. Academy is my first choice for brick and mortar stores when it comes to survival.

    • @robertschuenemann7390
      @robertschuenemann7390 9 часов назад

      Dick's doesn't carry the high quality; sustainable gear needed in a survival situation. Cabelas is a good source. So, are military surplus stores.

    Another great "build your own" bug-out/get-home back vid. (Really also liked the similar Buc-ees vid you did previously, as well.) My response to someone complaining about the cost of making up multiple bags for multiple vehicles -- what's the value of saving your own life, or someone else's?

    I didn’t see that particular backpack on their website so I’ll have to go into the store & see what’s what! Thankfully I have an Academy Sports 5 minutes from me, woohoo! 🙌🏽 I’m currently working on my family’s bags: myself, hubby, & (2) kids under 5. It’s been a process! Thank you for always putting out useful helpful content. God Bless & God Bless America!

    For your Fire Kit, you could fit most if not all in the Stanley Cup. More than likely you will build a fire & use the cup at the same time. Also add a zip lock bag for the items your not using.

  • @lorknozzel11
    @lorknozzel11 4 часа назад +2

    not bad for just grabbing what you could find at one store. but i feel that a store like Academy would have better options, but that would have also driven up the cost of the kit. this video really shows how expensive a bug out bag can get. Please keep doing these kinds of videos, and maybe talk more about the cost of the items in the bags and giver your thoughts on the price vs usefulness to help others decide if those items are right for them.

    You could have bought 2 bottles of water in “single use” bottles instead of the Nalgene. For starters, you already have some drinkable water but the Sawyer Mini/Squeeze screw on the top of the standard bottle and you can filter from those.

    I have built so many of these for my family and others. I usually have around $400+ in each bag, depending on the type (EVAC, 3 Day, Long Term, etc) and who it's for. Everybody should have something like this.

      We have a large flea market once a month not too far from where I live. I think a fun exercise would be to put together a kit bag based purely upon what one could scrounge up there for pennies on the dollar. I'm talking a good quality "3 is 2" bag with multiple types for each "C".
