dynasty is a very big word. they will entertain us for sure for a cuple of seasons but.. how deep will that team be when the top 3 guys are on close to max extentions? will they even will sth until those young future stars reach a max contract.. idk..
Given they will have about 20 billion draft picks, they can keep adding rotational pieces with first round picks, even when those players are more talented than just being bench pieces, e.g Cason Wallace. Imagine getting a player of that caliber to replace Cason when he inevitably wants a bigger role/contract. People keep expecting some sort of a mega-trade but based upon history, don't be surprised to see them complete their rebuild through the draft. They may trade some draft capital to move up, but major personnel acquisitions seem to be unlikely, IMHO.
Super teams are good when the stars complement each other's game, since most stars right now are score first players, its really hard to form super teams that work
I agree, that they CAN be a dynasty. But its not set in stone. Like the Westbrook/Harden/Durant/Ibaka team never became a dynasty. Their team will become very expensive very soon. Joe and Wiggins are up next season. If they are fair to both, the Thunder extend them even this summer. They also have to make a decision about Giddey this summer. Trade or big extension? Then Chet, Dieng, J-Dub are up in 2 years. Chet and J-Dub will demand Max Extensions. On top J-Will is in the same situation as Joe, just next Summer. Pay him pennies on a Team Option, possibly angering and loosing him in 2026, or pay him next summer? All the guys I just mentioned want to get their 1st big contract and are interesting for other cap space and rebuilding teams, cause they are still young. Can a team like the Thunder pay all of them and go deep into the 2nd Tax Apron for several seasons? Or is it more likely, that they will try to send some pieces off for more cap flexibility? I dont think they will make the "Harden" mistake again. Means SGA/J-Dub/Chet will stay and get their Max Contracts. But the rest? Giddeys fit isnt there in the first place (just look at this playoffs). So a Giddey trade this summer is very likely in my opinion. I think they will package him (and picks) to get a real impact PF that doesnt need the Ball to be effective. But whoever that is, he will also come with a price tag. And it will be very interesting to see what will happen after that. Do they give Joe AND Wiggins 10+ Mio long term contracts? Do they give J-Will a 10+ Mio long term contract next summer? It will be interesting to see.
tbh I could see Josh Giddey, Ousmane Dieng and a few 1sts for Lauri Markannen. SGA, Dort, J-Dub, Lauri and Chet is an insanely good and young starting 5 and they’d still have Isaiah Joe, Wiggins, J-Will, etc. Lauri is currently on a great deal but he would also be getting a bag in a few summers so ig that wouldn’t help the salary cap issues
As illustrated in this very video, the Thunder had a young core of future MVP/HOF players in Durant, Harden & Westbrook plus other young players that fit with them, and that team didn't win anything nor even approach a dynasty. So how can we call THIS nice young roster that hasn't actually done anything in the playoffs the next dynasty? A better hyperbolic click bait type title (since that's what you were going for) would be "Why Sam Presti is the best GM in the game" or somesuch. Good video though...
they drafted well, but when you had KD, westbrook, harden (THREE MVPs!!), you exchanged them into draft picks... until SGA really becomes the MVP or someone does, that is not exactly impressive.
Harden was a bad deal by them but they got nothing for KD, as he left in free agency. They got a decent package for Russ but nothing crazy due to teams being concerned how he would fit with his poor shooting, off-ball movement and decision making. As this dude said, it was really just trading Serge Ibaka and flipping VO and Sabonis for Paul George that kickstarted their rebuild. Trading Serge Ibaka for Shai, Prime Gallinari, JDub, Tre Mann and more is pretty damn good
@@thecaptain9212 of course they are. but the KD's thunder went to the finals, while the current thunder is still in the 2nd round. until the draft picks turn into successful players, and the team wins a chip, they have not surpassed KD's thunder.

Harden and Russ wasn’t MVP level players when they all played together and the current 3 stars of the thunder fit much better with each other. Also the current thunder team has lot more depth and assets in the future

@@washedjeffery they're calling it the next dynasty, meaning it's not a dynasty yet. Yes it's early to say the thunder will be a dynasty but there is a good chance. Everyone wants to count them out of contention this year, and many more believe they "shouldn't have won" that last game tying the series up. But it's obvious OKC should do well against Dallas overall, and likely move on to the WCF, where I believe they'll keep every game close and force it through a game 7. They're at least getting to the WCF if no fishy stuff happens, that's for sure. People discredit this Thunder team right now because of their inexperience, but that is a huge piece of their fuel and confidence right now. On top of it, they are confident, not cocky, they are by far the BEST in terms of chemistry, and they're notably the deepest roster in the playoffs as well.
