    This was great. Quick question: do you need to flash the radio if it comes with anti-theft? Or is it just a simple Re and RE

    If just the left side speakers work & the right doesnt at all and its not a balance control problem, is a stereo amp blown? Could it be a blown fuse or breaker in the radio? Does the radio have to be replaced? The stock sound seemed fair, not very good, before this happened. If the radio needs replacement, would you recommend a better stereo? Are the stock speakers also not very good and should be replaced as well? I dont want any high-end expensive system, but just one that would create better sound than stock.

    I'm having trouble finding a wiring harness. Why are there four plugs? One is for the ac, one for the antenna, one for the main stereo part (speakers etc). So, what is that fourth plug that has three wires coming out of it?gry/org, blu/gry and one cover in blk electrical tape. Also, The red wire from the aftermarket stereo goes where? the factory does not have an red cord. Someone suggested connecting it to another acc source like the cigg lighter. What do you think?

    • @MotorCityMechanic
      @MotorCityMechanic  4 года назад

      No way that I know of. Sounds like something came loose or broke inside. I would guess that replacement might be the only option. I havent taken one apart to see for sure. Thanks for asking and make sure to subscribe Dennis.

    Do those factory stereos work with subwoofers i dont want to remove it unless i know they do.

    • @MotorCityMechanic
      @MotorCityMechanic  9 лет назад +1

      Jesus Hernandez I can not say for certain that it does. I know there are no rca outputs for sure. I dont deal with much aftermarket stereo equipment anymore so not sure whats on the market to help hook the wires to the radio. Only item I can think of is if your usign some of the speaker wires at the radio as an input to the amp. There wont be a remote circuit as well. I highly recommend contacting a stereo shop to be sure. Thanks for watching the video and for your question. Make sure to subscribe!

    I need to replace an instrument panel bulb for the heated seat switch/button, the light has gone out. I checked the fuse and it's still good, so my next check is the bulb. Do you know how I can get to the bulb?

    • @MotorCityMechanic
      @MotorCityMechanic  7 лет назад +1

      Jonathan Rodriguez Most times the bulb is not replaceable. That doesn't mean someone hasnt tried and been successful. I just know that Mopar doesn't offer anything. There have been a few times I had to think outside the box when it came to cluster bulbs that supposedly weren't available.

      @@MotorCityMechanic I have a question for you. My 2013 Jeep Compass 2.4 liter has a problem nobody can fix. The check engine, traction control, and ABS lights come on simultaneously sometimes. When that happens the car literally won't go faster than 5mph. If I turn the car off and turn it back on, everything is fine acceleration wise, but the check engine light stays on. It did this before and the wheel speed sensor was the problem, but that is not the problem now. Any idea what it is? Thank you.

    Hello master, my name is Diego, I'm from Chile and I am interested in to upgrade the basic radio from my 2012 jeep compass, which is the model RES, it does not has sterring wheel controls or bluetooth. I got an RB2 touchscreen radio locally, thinking that these OEM radios would be plug & play, so I did a test removing my radio according this video instructions and connecting the RB2 device in the same way, but surprise... when i put the caignition key to on postion, the radio did not work, and the car dashboard lights went crazy, that got me nervous, so I remove the unit immediatelly and put back my original radio, and all went normal again.
    As nothing apeared in the RB2 device screen I dont know what was the problem and I could not continue, so I would like to ask your help to know what heppened and if my car is able to upgrade the radio? and what radio would work?
    Thanks in advance
    Regards,
    Diego

      I personally havent performed this swap so I wont be of much help. I do know that not all radios will work as you learned first hand. I wish I had more info but being that I only work at the dealership, we only stock issues with radios. No one even comes in wanting swaps like you mentioned.

    Sorry but you left out one very important thing! It's not stereo out stereo in and all done! Unless it's a jeep factory stereo you need to add an interface module to replace airbag circuits built inside factory radio. Without this interface you lose airbags and wiring wrong can even set them off! They are 5000 a piece! If 2 or 3 go off you just wrote your car off! People need to know this!

    • @MotorCityMechanic
      @MotorCityMechanic  9 лет назад +1

      gadgetlorne I appreciate the comment. The video is basically about removal of the radio and how to access it. The reinstall is about the oem radio. I deal with factory units only so that whole aftermarket radio installs isnt something I keep up with....especially when trying to get them to work with the factory harness and systems. I try to tailor the videos to stock repairs. Thanks for watching and thanks for adding the additional info.

      gadgetlorne I am about to take out my wife's Jeep OEM radio (non touch screen) and put in a Kenwood DDX371 and I cannot find anything anywhere online about your claim of the OEM radio having air bag circuits built into it. Are you only referring to the touch screen stereo head units? I cannot find anywhere online anyone that sells a interface for the airbags if you are swapping head units, only a interface to provide a ignition switch 12vdc supply for the RED wire on the after market head unit which I can easily take from the cig lighter. If you can shed a little more light here I would appreciate it. Thanks

      what kind of idiots put that in a stock radio? Another reason why I tell people not to buy Jeeps... my mom,however did not listen and I am trying to put a back up camera in for her.

    • @mobileavc
      @mobileavc 5 лет назад +3

      All: gadget has no idea what he/she is talking about. There are no "airbag circuits" inside the factory radio.
      Yes, the proper interface is needed to keep the radio in the CAN loop, as these radios turn on and off via the CAN BUS, but your airbags will NOT go off (and no, you won't "lose" them) if you do an aftermarket radio install. Ugh.
