Thank you for your comment. Medaka is in vitro fertilized, so it does not retain sperm. Usually in the morning, the female pushes the egg out of the body, and at that time the male fertilizes. Eggs stick under the female's body for a while, but in the afternoon they lay on aquatic plants.
@@medakanoouchi Thank you for your detailed knowledge Medaka house! Very appreciated and I will remember this :) Have you had any issues with aggressive rice fish? I have a female who's picked on my males recently, nipping at their fins and sadly had to separate her from them. I'm unsure what's caused this behavior.
@@kx1086 It's common for males to chase after females, but I don't see the opposite. However, there is no doubt that medaka is a fish whose compatibility is very important. Distinguish the faces of their friends. It even recognizes human faces. If there is a compatibility problem, a ratio of male to female number of about 2:3 will often help. If you ask a question on the bulletin board of Medaka's house, other Medaka lovers may give you advice, so please try it if you like. www.medakanoouchi.com/board/1.html.en (Please note that Japanese and English are mixed.)
