I've been trying to make a field of stars for the past 30 minutes with other tutorials, none of them worked. Here, under a minute, and I have a beautiful field. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO!
Very quick and easy. Motion blur is a nice touch. I also used the same method for blacking the stars out to add color to them. Add Layer > Choose Color > Tap Brush On Star > Change Layer Mode To 'Color'.
very fast and easy tutorial. he gets straight to the point and doesn't waste time talking nonsense. I learned a lot about the noise filter and blurs through this tutorial. Thank you.
Im rushing my school project right now and I wasted my 10 mins trying to make a star lol. Then I saw this video, and I actually wanna Thank you, tbh this is one of the easiest tutorials I've ever watched. You're a life saver Thank you so much!!! 😭
Ah I was so sad cuz this hasn't been working for me since an update, but by using the levels adjustment layers under the adjustment panel, as opposed to doing it from the image tab, it worked perfectly. Luv this vid! This stuff is su[er useful for surreal space collage!!!
this doesn't really work for large artboards/layers (in terms of pixel size), since the noise will be too fine. There are way too many stars then. I think this could be fixed using Gaussian blur, but I'm not so sure about that and can't try it out right now either, for reasons.
thanks a bunch, quick and insightful tutorial. really really helpful. also, if anyone wanted to use this with a color other than black, follow the instructions then make another layer on top with the color you desire (I went with a dark blue #0b1118) and set the layer to Lighten. Not sure if this will work for every color but it worked for me without compromising the bright stars.
After i do the levels adjustments it goes back to the form it looked before I added the levels adjutments, I only see the result when I do the settings but once I click ok it disappers. Do you know why? Thank you very much in advance
I may be doing something wrong, but when I adjust the levels, it looks great in the preview, but when I hit ok it adds many more stars. Is this a new feature added messing with this method? Or is there something I can do?
I have issues when adding noise.. It does not make the grainy effect of white dots like yours, but sort of like a grey look over the black background... Help!!
Hi Justin! I am supposed to do this for a Roll-up background 300 px, 850x2000 mm. How to make this look work in such a large document? Right now it a million of little ministars. I want a minimalistic splatter of white litte dots.
I know it's been a year but have you ever figured it out ? I'm trying this on a large canvas and have the same issue , million stars that only show up when zoomed in
Great tutorial! - One question, how do you flatten the image or save without the levels layer disappearing? I go to flatten the image and it goes back to the initial noise - same when I try to save as-is. Thanks in advance.
This is why RUclips is awesome. There is always someone out there who can show you how to do EXACTLY what you are wanting to do. Thank you!
that was so quick and easy thankyou for not making it the bane of my life like the other 50 I just watched

How do you make a select few stars really stand out?

What if I need bigger stars for a bigger canvas?
Hi! Would I be able to do the same with a blue background? When I change the background colour to dark blue, all I get is blue stars...

Ashley McKelvey I'm not the best at this at all, but think you can select all layers and merge them :)
I have the same problem
After applying threshold the view shows stars. On pressing ok the noise comes back to normsl pls help
Doesn't work. After applying Levels the layer switches back to a noise layer

Can you make this into a brush preset?
Can i use this on a gradient with this? If yes, how ?
