I like this over the McIntosh 1900 due to the fact that it has AUX inputs instead of just Tape inputs. I know tape inputs can be used as aux inputs but still. I'd love to have one of these but the prices have really jumped.

I'm not sure the price is justified BUT it is a nice receiver.

Let's be fair: I'm not sure prices are justified for any of the vintage receivers that have exploded in popularity since COVID. Personally, I'd rather pay $700 for this than hundreds or thousands more for one of the more traditional "monsters "

@@metsno1 I agree. Just bite the bullet once and be done. But for me it never stops, lol.
I also am not a fan of the giant vintage huge watt monsters everyone wants these days. Give me some clean, easy listening 50 watts or less and I am happy.

@@metsno1 I agree...just went through a Pioneer SX 1980 and I came away feeling very 'blah' about the receiver. Folks at 402 are ogling over it...I don't get it.

Never heard of this brand before.

I think MacIntosh/Stereotech was similar to the relationship between Marantz (high end) and Superscope (consumer grade). Had to capture some of the non-‘audiophile’ market at the time.

I find the Marantz looked quite a bit better. I owned another beauty: The Yamaha CR-2020.

I think Marantz/McIntosh is a more fair comparison…Stereotech/Superscope (budget McIntosh/Marantz) are more in line with what the manufacturers were trying to do. I had a thing for Yamaha a while back. Had a Yamaha CA 610II that I loved and used for quite a while.

Mine didn’t have a jumper so we use cables to connect the plugs. Is that a bad thing?
