- This video tutorial details the process of making three molds using PlatSil® 73-25, a platinum silicone mold rubber. Two of the molds are made from branches taken from a fallen tree and the third mold is made from a plastic pine cone.
Hundreds of candles can made in one silicone mold.
The Steps:
1. Select a Model
2. Construct Mold Boxes & Prepare Models
3. Measure, Mix & Pour Silicone Mold Rubber
4. Demold
5. Melt & Pour Wax
6. Remove Candle from Mold

You can minimize the unevenness of the wax after it sets by not drilling a hole in the bottom of the mold for a wick. Instead, pull the wick through the silicone on a heavy-duty sewing needle. This allows the silicone to close tightly around the wick so that none seeps out after you pour.
I prefer to hear narration then just hear music and have to read it and watch at the same time. Just my opinion. Thanks for the vid.
There's a pause button if you can't keep up. Realize that some people don't feel comfortable talking on camera. His video, his choice. You have to meet people where they are in terms of how they choose to communicate. I really hate when people want someone to change the way someone does something just for them when it seems to work for everyone else. I don't see anyone else complaining. Did you get something out of the video? You thanked him for it, so, I assume you did.
Excellent and detailed video! Thanks for the instruction---now I have to try this!
Cheers for the video content! Forgive me for the intrusion, I would appreciate your opinion. Have you thought about - Chireetler Earning Maker Rule (just google it)? Very nice tutorials.
Very cool, but way too much work for me to do on my own! I'd rather pay someone to make a mold for me! I like the tree bark molds. I'd like to find something like that to make pillar candles.
Thanks so much. It's beautiful
Great work! Thank You!
Thank you!

Thank you so much!!
How many inches above the item are you pouring the silicone?
looks like you need two people to produce these candles? As its too difficult to pull the candle out of the mold single-handedly....
Could be pre heated These molds in the oven?
Can you make my mold? How much will you charge?
Thank you for helping me out...
Can we make molds out of wax castings?
Wax won't stick to silicon after pouring and cooling ? is that easy to remove the mold from wax ?
Certain waxes can stick slightly more than others. In that case, release agent can be used to assist in demolding.
That was a cool video
Hi
Can i buy the candle molds from you
Love it!
Are these products available at Home Depot?
Hi Sam - Thank you for watching! They are not available at Home Depot, but you can purchase them online at www.polytek.com!
I'll stick with the ivory pillars, thanks.
So, I’m assuming with molds made upside down like the pine cone, you don’t use wick tabs for the wicks. I’ve been trying to figure out how to do that and keep the wick centered and stable during the pour, but I don’t think it is possible? I would just have to make them without wick tabs?
Ebby Elsebai I make mine with wick tabs. When pouring the wax I use a wick stick instead of the wick and after the candle sets I thread the wick thru the hole after I remove the stick.
Ebby Elsebai Process for this was clearly shown in video!
What wax did you use
Where can I buy the silicone

Can I use resin in these molds?
Hello Niha - Thank you for watching. Generally speaking - yes, silicone molds like these can be used to cast resin.
Could I pour cement in these molds?
Hi Jamie - Thank you for watching! You can pour concrete into these molds; however, depending on the silicone, efflorescence can occur on the finished concrete part.
yes you definitely can, i used a . silicone mold for concrete castings before. comes out super clean
There are projects on how to do this on the Stodoys plans website.
This almost 1/4 hour vid could easily have been produced in 5 mins: edits w/speeding up, fast forward, clipping & cutting. Every single second of process unnecessary, irritating, & a TIME- SUCK of minutiae.
No argument a great tutorial; unquestionably TOO LONG!
