The ratings for American Idol must‘ve been high when Hulk Hogan appeared on that show. Who knows if anyone in the audience or anyone watching the show thought for an instant thought Sylvester Stallone was going to come out on the stage when the theme song from Rocky 3 was being played,though very briefly?
it was also Hulk's first theme song in wresting as well, as he had appeared in that movie.

P.S. For those wondering, "Eye of the Tiger" was one of Hulk's early entrance themes before he adopted Rick Derringer's "Real American." He also appeared in Rocky III, for which the song was written, so its use here is not random.

Man this just goes to show you how much Hogan has impacted American Culture. No other superstar (outside Cena and Rock) can come on a show that is NO WHERE NEAR the same as wrestling, and make THAT much of an impact. Racist or not, Hogan gets the job done when you need him and God give him time to heal his wounds for what has happened in 2015 alone. We don't need to lose another legend as big as Hogan.

Hulk Hogan is the american idol.
I remember years ago, he was on CNN (Larry King I believe), somewhere in the late 90's, and I was one of the people who called in to ask him a question. But I never expected to actually get on the air and talk to him live. In 1 second every question I ever had in my mind to ask the Hulkster vanished, and I was at a loss for words.
But at one point I just asked him something, which is, to this day for me, the best question I ever asked and I got a great response.

What a surprise it was when Hulk Hogan made a guest appearance on American Idol and the theme song of Rocky 3,Eye of The Tiger,which used to be played as Hulk Hogan's entrance song,was chosen to be heard that night.
The only reason the WWE is around is because of Hulk Hogan; Vince can proclaim all he likes that he could've chosen anybody to run with the ball, as he puts it, but bottom line is that so many tried and failed - Macho Man, Ultimate Warrior, Andre The Giant, Yokozuna, Sgt Slaughter, Undertaker - these guys all failed, whereas Hogan succeeded. Hogan is the reason we have an industry today. He is the single most influential and popular figure in sports entertainment history, bar NONE. The end.

When Ryan announced that Paul and James were not safe i was saying: "That's Rubbish, That's Rubbish" just like Fred and George Weasley in Goblet of Fire, when Barty Crouch announced that underaged students won't participate in the Triwizard Tournament. When Hulk came out i was giggling at James's reaction, it was cute. When Hulk announced that the two were safe I was like Hallelujah, and it was funny when he knocked Ryan out, even though it was an act.

@rraNeIsAwesome Probably because Hogan is still somewhat associated with Rocky III, which Eye of the Tiger was basically the "secondary" theme song for, even though the song itself had nothing to do with Hogan's role in the movie.
I think Seacrest Just beat HBK with this oversell of Hogans punch.

Pretty sure because the WWE owns the song and Hogan is and was in TNA at the time. Eye of the Tiger was his original (and best) song he came to the ring with. Real American was written for Barry Windham and Mike Rotundo originally

@tkosullivan I always thought his pre-Real American theme song was that generic piano song from the original "Wrestling Album". Guess it'd make sense to go with Eye of the Tiger during all the Rocky 3 craze though.
