Brilliant video .I was a mechanic for 35 years, i just wanted to check the whole procedure before i did the job myself. There are so many awful videos on the net now,but this one is exactly how they should be produced. Well done and thank you. 🙂
Just did this job with the help of this vid, cheers mate. Only thing I did different is mark the old belt and the top and bottom pulleys and then with the belt off aligned the old belt with the new and transferred the same markings across. made it way easy to align the new belt
EXACTLY the video I was looking for as my Mondeo is now due it's first belt change and this gives me the confidence to replace it as it's a lot easier than the Mk 2 Mondeo I did last time many years ago. Thanks for taking the time to create this content. 👍
Fantastic Video. Thank you. Having done many similar jobs I am amazed at how you managed to get the footage and get your hands in there at the same time.
Really good video with torque settings too! Same as my ford kuga, only difference is the coolant expansion tank needs removing to get the engine mount off. :-)
Great video but a word of caution based on my own experience. At 85000 miles my 2008 Mondeo 2.2tdci broke down because of similar wear in the keyway on the bottom pulley - it had slipped on the crankshaft far enough to throw the timing out of range. (with a worn keyway you're relying on the friction between the faces of the pulley and the crankshaft once tightened to prevent any slippage) I fitted a new bottom pulley and key at the same time as the timing belt kit.
Really helpful mate. I had a question on doing this job on a MK4 with an automatic transmission - would you be able to use the same marking method on the flexplate (in place of a flywheel), to correctly mark the timing?
glad to help :) thanks for the comment.. i've never replaced one on an auto myself but yes it should still have a ring or outer edge that you can paint mark.. hope this helps :)
I have the same issue you had with the kuga on my mondeo, sent it to get the belt changed and got it back and it wouldn’t start properly, how do you solve the problem?
Hi Adam, It needed the timing rechecking & altering, usually when this happens it logs a cam/crank synchronisation fault too .. its worth having a code read to see if you've got any fault codes stored
I'm finding when I nip the bottom Pulley with the gun, it's turning the bottom Pulley slightly and knocking the flywheel a tooth out... Doesn't look like you checked after nipping the bottom. Pulley up
Hi Chris, you might have to try locking the teeth of the flywheel with a screwdriver , u can usually get away without.. I maybe didnt show it on cam but I did double check.. thanks

Hi Chris , that trim can be bit of a clat but you can normally get it out.. there may also be a pin hole slightly higher up that you can actually put a timing pin through into the flywheel to lock it in position
Great video I followed your video but I am having trouble my cam is locked I have my mark on the flywheel i get the belt on then look at flywheel mark that's still in the right place but a soon as I get the belt tensioned and look again the flywheel has moved, any idea what I am doing wrong? Thanks.
Thanks for the comment , how far out is the mark? Sounds odd when fitting the belt if pulling hard it will turn the crank but if you say it’s ok before tensioning shouldnt be an issue ..
Sounds odd, that's a fair amount!! just tensioning it shouldn't really move anything.. its bit hard for me to say with out actually seeing it.. have you tried to lock the flywheel in place while you tension it.. maybe get some one to lock the flywheel teeth with a pry bar while you do it

Hello could u plz guide me: is Ford galaxy 2013 2 litre diesel Powershift is interference or non-interference engine? As I was driving down at around 20mph and my galaxy gently came to a halt. Upon inspection we found that timing belt was not in a place although it was still there. It looks like water pump failed and it drag the timing belt from its place. Hi faisal thanks for your comments.. I’m afraid it is an interference engine.. although you may be lucky if it has only jumped a few teeth you may not have done any damage to the valves etc..
