We've been busy too, getting ready for winter up here!!!
Only did 5 mineral tubs this past growing season. Planning to add an additional 10 tubs for 2024. Got to get soil and get it in tubs and get it ready for spring planting. Looking to get cinderblocks and treated lumber to get it up off the ground. Thanks for sharing throughout the year. I learn something every time I watch.

I am zone 7B in NC and I grow sugar cane here with canes from Danny. You have to make sure you cut it down prior to first frost and cover it well with straw to help insulate it. Putting plastic on top of it also does help.

Danny and Wanda: I see you had one viewer who asked about grapes. I successfully researched grapes on RUclips. Concord grape seeds require stratification prior to planting in spring. The advice was 2-3 months in the refrigerator prior to trying to germinate them in the spring. I washed the seeds in a strainer, dried them, and wrapped them in dry paper towels and put them in a plastic baggy. There is a plethora of information about how to grow and prune grapes on RUclips. Some of our soil here is rocky, and grapes grow just fine in rocky soil. Many places in the world grow grapes successfully in rocky soil. The reason I chose Concord grapes is because they will tolerate cold (-30°F) weather better than many other varieties. I had an Italian friend whose father operated a nursery, many Italians make a wine they call "Dago Red" from Concord grapes. I haven't made any yet, but it's supposed to be excellent.
Oh wow, are you saying that you have started grapes from seeds? If so have they produced yet? … I may have to buy some grapes with seeds in them:) I have started peaches and persimmons from seeds.
@@poodledaddles1091 I've got a bunch of concord grape seeds in the refrigerator waiting to germinate in the spring. It took me about 4 hours to get all the seeds out of about 2 gallons of grapes. All the grapes I currently have were started from plants I bought at a local nursery. I can't wait for Spring to see what happens! 😁👍

There's an old B movie on youtube from 2013 that I suggest people watch. It's called Dragon Day. It may not go down exactly like that. But, it's coming. Anyway, I'm looking at buying a non electrical water distiller. I hope I find one that I can get quickly and is affordable. The more portable and small...the better. God help us all. We just had two nights where it got near 29 degrees. My tomatoes is next to the east side of the unheated greenhouse and the cold damaged it some . Did have some of my flowers to look like the frost hit them .
Just my experience, 50.yrs of cats *They hunt all types of rodents, rabbits, which is always a good thing. If they're digging up plants, some thing is wrong w/ those plants. Mine will occasionally eat grass for tummy upset, not any garden plants bcz they're obligate carnivores. They chase squirrels out, maybe birds too. Better than dog poop to deal with. Turn any into the soil.

Dogs & cats often play/live together, so not a sure thing.

Last Sunday we got 4.9’ inches of rain well it started Saturday night went through Monday morning. Can’t tell we got any rain. You may not know the Doss Family in Oklahoma but the Doss Farms Chad and Rae lost their homes to fire early Friday morning they all got out but lost their belongings just remember them in your prayers. They are family of homesteaders
Oh NO! We love Chad and Rae... and of course, Adler! Can't leave out Case and Carter. Thank you for letting us know. Do you know what happened? I know they were going to have the mini split installed...was that the cause? I am in shock! I will be praying for them. I wish I could do more! I am heartbroken for them. I know they will pull themselves up by their boot straps, because that's who they are. Still, it's devastating to lose everything.... I know.

I have a 5 ft fence with small holes around my garden and 1 of my farm cats climbs over it to get in and out of the garden . I've come to the conclusion that cat has to go . Not digging in cat poo in my garden . Not happening.
I've started to can all my tomatoes I froze this summer. Waited to utilize the heat from canning to heat the house now that it's cold outside lol . Less stressful as I can take my time.

I live in a forest in a cabin on a lake. Was doing container gardening on the roof cuz that was my best sun. Is there anything I can grow that needs less sun. Gardening on the roof is labor intensive.

A "tip"? How about: "Don't shear the sheep that laid the golden egg before the well runs dry." One of the most useful things to learn is how to live without money. In other words, build local like-minded communities and learn how to barter wisely. I am going to buy a good book on foraging wild edibles. I also need a good book on medicinal herbs. Prayer and meditation help enormously with having the right attitude about all this stuff. IMO, THE most powerful thing any person can do to fight evil is to refuse to buy or use anything from any enterprise or social media platform which supports "wokeness" and/or has a "woke" world view. Humans know virtually nothing about the cause-and-effect material universe in which we all live. The Apostle Paul, Socrates, Confucius and Albert Einstein all knew that humans lack the basic marble count to understand the Force/s which control the Universe. NEVER just believe anybody, ALWAYS do your own due diligence research and homework, boys and girls! May God bless and protect Deep South Homestead and all who dwell there. 🙏🙏
