Pro tip. Mount the tire's backwards. The wide end of the V needs to go first, not the narrow. You will get much better traction and dig less into the mud. We did this on rear tire of mountain bikes back in the late 80's
Actually the success was based mostly on that he had the largest front tires...if you noticed, everyone else especially early on kept getting the front diff buried in the muck...but yeah he kept the power steady too...

From working on these new IH diesels, I am extremely impressed these powerstrokes held together, but those Cummins were definitely throwing down more horses with much less effort. Hats off to the Internet Breaker and those valves clattering for mercy from those 6 tires!

I have respect for well built independent suspension but if a truck can break a axle shaft that is easily over 3 inches in diameter I'm pretty sure there is not many ways of going by improving the suspension
When I use to run around on the trails I always tested the mud holes first 2wd, then if I started to slip and spin alot I'd switch to 4L 1st which doesnt even register on my speedometer. Then when I want the power I'd go up to 4H lock it in 3rd spool up and dump the clutch

the problem that keeps arising in these bounty holes is the mud that gets stuck in the front of the trucks. If there was a half cone or something, like what the front of a boat has, most, if not all of the trucks would make it through easily.

Seems like the dually had different gearing on the two diffs. The rear tires seemed to be moving at about half the rate of the front. Wouldn't the trick be to have the rear spinning faster with more weight and the front just cutting path? Anyway, excuse my ignorance. Just commenting on what I seen on the video.
Dhime perhaps it would, but with all that weight the trucks rear would sink more and dig itself in. With front wheels that pull while the back pushes you get optimal weight and power distribution

A steady RPM is all you need! It's fun going fast in the Mudd but when $$ involved you need both rear n front locked. His room stayed constant barely any change.
easy add helium ,yes the one you use on balloons to your tires instead of regular air and your truck will elevate and not fly but asoon as mud pulls you down helium will rise you up
Bear with me here but because the size of the helium molecule is smaller than air it requires more helium molecules to fill a vehicle tire. So in the end it actually becomes heavier when you use helium.
I call bullshit helium is lighter yes but it’s also denser and it takes a lot of helium to even fill a tire which in the end result makes your tire even heavier to be honest

i think the problem is the axle. the pumpkin is digging into the mud, so 500 inch lifts don’t really matter. if you want to get through the mud build something where the axle is extremely tall. either with 100 inch tires or 50 inch tires and with the axle really high. high

The front is built wrong on most. They become a mud pusher stopping the truck. You need a plate that lifts the front so it doesn't bog.
I'd imagine $5.5k is a great return on the investment in those things.

easy add helium ,yes the one you use on balloons to your tires instead of regular air and your truck will elevate and not fly but asoon as mud pulls you down helium will rise you up
Grimster Valdez it really wouldnt make any difference at all.
Bear with me here but because the size of the helium molecule is smaller than air it requires more helium molecules to fill a vehicle tire. So in the end it actually becomes heavier when you use helium.
I call bullshit helium is lighter yes but it’s also denser and it takes a lot of helium to even fill a tire which in the end result makes your tire even heavier to be honest

@@adamantiumhound3154 that's not how gas laws work at all, there is a set equation on how many molecules of a gas will create a certain pressure within a container at a certain volume/temperature.
(Note) it's been years since I've studied gas laws and may be mistaken, correct me if I'm wrong.

i think the problem is the axle. the pumpkin is digging into the mud, so 500 inch lifts don’t really matter. if you want to get through the mud build something where the axle is extremely tall. either with 100 inch tires or 50 inch tires and with the axle really high. high
