YES! I've been waiting for a revamp of this!!! 10 years later, still trying to learn it properly! hahaha! Love it MJ! Glad to hear you’re ok, covid ran through my family as well but all is good!
It's fun to see the difference between ten years ago Mike and Mike now. Such a change in tone, velocity, even feel. It was great then, it's out of this world now.
10 years later and Mike is still handing out a peppamint to the kids. I remember practicing the first video so much and driving my band mates crazy. This makes me want to dust off the old kit and get back into it again.
Thanks Mike. Another good trick for the toolbox. 90% of what I play in a band is pure pocket. I've improved the variety of my short fills from watching your videos. Keep up the good work!
Has anyone noticed how much Mike has changed as a player? Like seeing him play the first iteration of this groove was so bananas compared to his style today. Bravo!
WooHoo! Best teacher ever! It always makes me so happy to hear your reasoning behind things and the way you explain them with such passion. This one's going to keep me busy for months! Haha, thanks, Mike. :)
Thanks Mike, awesome lesson and sentiment (yep, joy!) I can also see this in a breakdown of a live gig, where the band and crowd want to see some “pizazz” and entertainment 👏🏻👏🏻🤩 without it being the predictable “drum solo” bit that 99% of the audience don’t really care about 😁
I think this would fit perfectly as a transition from an up-tempo groove. Instead of playing the same thing on 2&4 of the rhythm, end with a roundhouse fill while the band changes key or whatever they are do (while we work the real magik)...
Been watching you for a long time this linear drum playing something It’s something I’m trying to tackle. Q : I buy sticks and when i go to use them One of them is not straight. Is there a reason for this. I am glad you survived COVID-19. Will be working on the peppermint.
”You’ll get fired and bla bla bla…” 🤣👍🏻🥇 Great groove, keep it up Mike! 🔥🥁

I think you can take sections of that and really make awesome songs with it. Sick groove. Even the whole thing on repeat with some spicy guitar. 👌🏻

The rest of the groove apart the the first 8th note, looks like one video that you uploaded "That instagram groove" .Love it.
They're all the same. Just some singles, doubles, and a pinch of spice :)
@@mikeslessons Yeah that's it. The spice 😋
