  • He lived, perished, and was born again. Once a member of the Hand of Artakha and the Order of Mata Nui, Hydraxon was a great warrior who at one point trained our beloved Toa Mata in combat. He was replicated by the Mask of Life when Po-Matoran Dekar attempted to destroy the mask. The replication carried over all of Hydraxon's memories, which caused Dekar to believe he was always Hydraxon.

I don’t think there’s been a single 2007 set that I haven’t loved. Hydraxon is such an amazing set! You can tell just from looking at him that he’s armed to the teeth and a serious threat to anyone who would try and oppose him or the order of Mata Nui. Also the fact that he trained the toa nuva and that he was such a threat that the Mask of Life revived him to protect it! I just love this guy so much

It's a great weapon - sharp, perfectly balanced, accurate. But it takes more than talent and practice to use it correctly... it takes the brains to throw it at the right target. You Toa have plenty of power, but I'm not seeing much in the way of common sense. Without it, all that power isn't worth a pile of Protodites.

I distinctly remember obtaining Hydraxon as my first Mahri Nui Titan set on September 29 of 2007, as a sort of "early fall purchase" in a way. At one point, his promotional artwork caused some to think that he was a water version of Axonn somehow. He is the first Titan set to have the Inika torso in black, and along with Gadunka, sports Kalmah's armor recolored in silver. This is also true for the webbed Piraka foot in silver, but as TTV referenced, that piece technically debuted in two minifigure-scale playsets (8624 and 8894) the year before. Hydraxon is also the final set to have the Toa Metru eye stock in transparent fluorescent green, and also repurposes Lesovikk's "Air Sword". He is the second of three Bionicle sets to have the webbed Piraka feet and the rounded Inika feet in black. But one detail that perplexed TTV when they reviewed this six and a half years ago was why he has blue pin axles randomly sticking out of the bottom holes in his lower legs...

Hydraxon is top 5 classiest designs in Bionicle history for me. He really manages to convey that idea of a deadly weapon master, with a ton of personality and presence despite what you'd think would be a pretty flat color scheme. And those articulated hands? Oof. I ripped that design off for so many builds.

I feel like as far as titans go, he’s kind of white bread. He has that claw hand, that’s cool and the tubes coming out of his stomach are neat but he doesn’t really have much else going for him. That’s also because the other large sets and titans of the year and the one prior all had very bombastic features maybe. Axonn’s ball joint hands, vezon’s spider, maxilos’ everything, ect. He’s a good Titan still definitely.

I have a really funny story about this set. It all started when I ordered a huge lot of random bionicle sets off eBay, but the pictures did not show everything you got. It took forever for the package to arrive, but when I got it there were canisters with some smaller sets like the mata, nuva, borohk, metru, hordika, visorak, and even a barraki. However, there was a bag full of random sets too I saw some toa mhari and Matoran, but I opened it and pulled a random thing out. I realized it was hydraxon, a set I was going to put on my Christmas list, and I was over the moon when I got to finally have that set in hand.

The shame on this set is that you can have 2 kinds of Sidorak's like pipe, breakable's one and absolutely unbreakable one's.
I got one weak, who cracked :/
This set is absolutely excellent, i look forward for Maxilos, you are not ready for Maxilos

Hydraxon is one of the most wasted characters in bionicle lore.
He was the one who trained the first toa, he is the keeper of the pit and a powerful member of the order of mata nui, but after the events of mahri nui he was never be seen again, not even in the final battle. What a shame.

I'm just a lil' disappointed, because hydraxon looks so much smaller than in the medias he appears in, i thought he'd be like twice as big as a toa 😭

To me Hydraxon never really looked like a legit titan. Just a toa-sized figure with extra pieces slapped on. He doesn't offer the unique builds that come with Maxilos and Gadunka, so I never quite understood him. I know other titans like Axonn can also be smaller and a bit less complex than other titans, but at least with Axonn you get all that bulk and those amazing hands, compared to Hydraxon who's rather skinny with hands that don't really function outside of basic posing. But perhaps if I built the set myself I'd appreciate him more, since that's been the case with a couple other sets.

This is highly subjective but he does have more of a “presence” in person, especially if you have him do some of the action poses in the toa mahri trailer
