As someone who drank himself into homelessness it's nice to hear the most compelling argument for people who think they might be drinking too much. I hope this podcast reaches people at the start of the slope and gets them to consider stopping there before sliding down to where I got. Years of horribleness, recovery and now years of processing the trauma. Trust me people, it's not worth it.
I love how he always manages to give such a refreshing perspective on life work balance for a TV-star. He always provides some profound insights whether you're pursuing a career in the film- and TV- industry or whether you're just a regular Joe managing life's challenges. Great interview.
Great to hear everything is going well for Stephen. Always enjoy his time on the podcast and I'm really looking forward to seeing what he does with Suits LA.
Listening to this episode now and I am so glad that Stephen is back on the podcast. I am glad that his mental health is good. I am glad that he is on Suits.
Rosenbaum changing the subject whenever Amell began talking about The Little Mermaid , come on , I wanted to see Green Arrow and Lex discuss fave/different tastes in movies. No wrong answers , entertainment is subjective.
I met Stephen Amell, almost a year ago. He so kind and he was so good looking I wasn’t prepared. Like he’s good looking in show, but seeing him in person, blew me away
You're saying he's a monster?!! P.S. I'm a journalist whose just begun his career, and I had no idea how easy it is to get hits based on a little sentence retooling. Thank you! And please, don't worry about Stephen, he's had a wonderful run.
I have drastically reduced my alcohol intake and can absolutely attest to the heightened anxiety that I've been experiencing. Mostly trying to stop a smoking trigger, so reducing nicotine and alcohol has made me more anxious. It isn't panic attack levels, but when I feel a craving coming on it's rough, especially when I wasn't prone to anxiety in the past.
Just have to say proud of you my mom was in AA for a while and concoured that she is now 5 years sober and so proud of her anyone can do this I've also noticed that you have to switch your brain thinking in a new direction and that is the main thing alter what you think is true and tell yourself this is what you need also you have to listen to your inner being that tells you if you start to go the wrong way like for instance if you aren't feeling hungry but you eat and your stomach starts growling that is your inner being telling you not to take another bite so listen to each and every part of your body and it will tell you
Oh this is easy, Alcohol effects Gaba neurotransmitters located in the limbic system of your CNS which contributes to 74% of your entire Nervous system as a whole. Your Gaba receptors have been use to receiving a specific amount of alcohol which once you removed some of it, your GabaB is having a hissy fit. GABA has a few main functions, anxiety regulation is the most well known, unfortunately Alcohol and Benzodiazepines... Worst drugs in the world you're have to go to rehab for alcohol. Here's the problem, if you're in this stage that means your nervous system is badly injured and soon you're be damned if you do and damned if you don't. If you don't get that alcohol your experience withdrawal but you would of already hit tolerance which means even if you get your alcohol, your anxiety can't be regulated as Gaba acts as a peak pedal for anxiety so the longer you drink it, your break pedals become worse and worse. Pretty soon your have anxiety on and off the alcohol. Please seek this isn't isn't a joke.
Stephen keeps amazing me. I love his honesty about how he struggles with alcohol, his transparency, his humility. The way he cares for his kids. People can relate to him. He's down to Earth. How not to admite that sweet man? I just LOVE it when Stephen comes! ❤
I hope I remember to bring this up at the Smallville con in Oct. The take Steven is giving on Alcohol is every bit of what I'm going through right now. His words are really hitting me.
I'm happy he is doing well , I've been dealing with a lot of stuff mentally so it always helps to listen that your not alone. Plus taking a break from Social Media is key
My husband and I have been binge watching Arrow. We are loving it. Would absolutely LOVE to see a movie or limited series with Stephen back as Oliver. Never got into the original suits but will be sure to watch Suits LA when it airs.
Heels is such a great show. Soooo happy to see Netflix grab it. Netflix is perfect spot for it. If anything will be able to go back and rewatch the series.
This episode was perfectly timed. As fans, we always knew Stephen was a hard, serious worker. Then Arrow ran its course and things happened and then we didn't hear from him in a while. It was really nice to hear him back in the saddle and with a new, interesting project he seems perfectly cast for.
I am so excited for Suits: LA. To see Stephen Amell in a very much different role than his darker Green Arrow character is going to be enjoyable. If he played the Mayor of Star City on Arrow, he can definitely pull off playing a lawyer and maybe even go toe-to-toe with Harvey Specter!
I think you said it best here, the feeling you get from being a present dad supersedes any substance. I think the best version of Stephen is one with no alcohol form what I’ve heard you say in interviews Love this for you! Always rooting for you! 17:26
Wow I just learned about that $5 billion deal to move RAW to Netflix. One of my brothers is a big fan. We used to watch professional wrestling when we were kids back in the 60s and 70s, with Bruiser and Crusher being his and my favorites. I still have a soft spot but my brother is an avid fan and plans to follow it from USA to Netflix, where he already has an account.
It's been interesting listening to this podcast when speaking about alcohol. Because I kept avoiding dealing with depression and anxiety for, well 40 years, I made poor decisions which resulted in me creating a business and a life that really was just a house of cards. I turned to alcohol to knock down the fear and avoid the situation. Another thing I discovered is that the healthcare system in this country is so ridiculous, that getting help takes forever...unless you have money of course.
Answering your question at the top -- I used to try to always watch within the first week but a few months ago I moved my family across states and I fell behind BUT I saw Stephen was back and clicked as soon as I could!
Idk what I’m more excited about, having these two legends talk shop or just staring at all the movie memorabilia wishing I can just be in that room. This podcast kicks so much ass I want to eat pop rocks and then drink a soda.
Glad to see Stephen back on the podcast, his first time on the podcast was a very emotional episode it has always stuck with me. I saw his panel at FanX Utah a couple years ago, he was wearing some crocs 😊 I love listening to Stephen stories of his life and experiences , Stephen such a beautiful soul ♥️ another great episode, you Rock Michael!
Stephen always did great. I know he had an anxiety attack at some point, but, man, I get those too. This day and age, I completely understand. I deal with anxiety very often too.
Alcohol is not a good thing to mess with. It can really mess your life up. I am glad that Stephen realized what it was doing to him and decided to stop. Something that I experienced .
I’ve always seen Stephen as an extremely hard worker and that hasn’t changed. I would have liked to have seen him more after Arrow, I will definitely be watching this on Netflex. Kudos for Stephen going from one physical role after another…
I have never watched Suits. I am aware of it. Seen a few scenes on Tiktok. I wouldn't be interested in LA Suits EXCEPT I am because Amell is in it. I would watch for him. He will bring in viewers on name alone.
stephen, maturity, adulting and family look good on you. i will watch your suits. never saw the other. maybe i will look. wrestling was a bonding activity for my dad and me. my favorite (to date myself) was bob backlund. remember him? i saw him close up and in person, but got too shy to approach him. we had a b&w tv (to date myself again) and i thought his red hair was SO cool. best wishes on your son. ( i havent been on social media either.) :)
Dear Stephen Amell; I have a simple suggestion you might want to explore for your health and happiness : Perhaps consider finding yourself a life coach/therapist who specializes in helping people with anxiety and especially ADHD. If I had the money I would absolutely explore that possibility as my executive function is non existent and my addictive tendencies can make my life very stressful and both issues can really weigh me down with guilt. They can help you prioritize things in your life and give a third party perspective on things. ❤❤❤
Stephen is always a great interview, I love how real he is. He seems like hes in a really good place right now and i'm so happy for him. Thank you for everything you do Michael 🩵
Great interview and enjoyed all the discussions, so glad he got the part in Suits and can now have a more settled family life. Thanks for another wonderful episode🤩
Please please please someone pickup Heels to finish the story!!! It was SOOOOOOOOOO good. Such great characters and storytelling. Loved this show more than the others
No one is their best self on alcohol. It's a poison. The more you do it and the longer you do it the worse the effects are both physically and mentally. Using alcohol to help with anxiety is one of the worst possible options one can choose, because all of those anxious feelings rebound even stronger once the effects of alcohol wear off. Alcohol disturbs your sleep and good consistent sleep is one of the most important things, along with regular exercise, people need to combat anxiety.
I really do love how Stephen keeps coming back, and Grant Gustin and Brandon Routh are other arrow verse favorites, which naturally leads me to keep waiting for literally ANYONE from Supergirl. Specifically Melissa Benoist and Jeremy Jordan. I get the sense they have a few stories you’d find interesting. Please try and get them. ❤ Love the podcast. ❤ Previously caught up on all episodes then fell behind so now in the catch up phase again.
I totally get the mindset he has about alcohol as someone with addictive tendencies and therefore am at higher risk of developing an addiction. I'm 29 and I still have not touched alcohol, recreational drugs or even prescription medicine that is addictive...which says a lot because I have debilitating chronic pain conditions but I'd rather be in pain than risk developing an addiction
Stephen, you are simply amazing! Such an honest and passionate interview. Good luck to a healthy, long life and your upcoming projects. Keep shinning! 🙌👍🤝
Everything Stephan is saying about alcohol I'm just nodding my head agreeing. I'm not alone. I was sober last month and I loved waking up early and being to myself. Drinking I'm dyeing to wake up.
May I suggest an actress to interview either in October? (just in time for the spooky season, because she's also an amateur paranormal investigator) or in April of next year (for Autism Acceptance Month): *Kayla Cromer* is the first autistic actor to play an autistic main character in a TV series ('Everything Is Gonna Be Okay') she also does voice work for the TV show 'Monster High'. I think it'll be really insightful if you invite Kayla Cromer to the "Inside of You" show to talk with her about her journey with autism, especially with a woman with autism, through the acting industry.
I recently finished watching Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, and the first three seasons of Superman and Lois. My favorites are Arrow and The Flash. Superman and Lois is a strong show too, but it has too few seasons.
You have NOT failed this podcast ♥️

When honesty just oozes out in a celebrity it makes for one hell of a podcast. Well done guys!
Love seeing Lex Luthor and Green Arrow talking to each other, 2 billionaires.
Yeah, instead, it's just two millionaires talking. How crazy is that????
Really? I see green arrow and flash.
They wish 🤣
The Luther mansion was also used for The Queen Mansion on Arrow 🏠
Has Justin Hartley ever been on the podcast?
I love how he always manages to give such a refreshing perspective on life work balance for a TV-star. He always provides some profound insights whether you're pursuing a career in the film- and TV- industry or whether you're just a regular Joe managing life's challenges. Great interview.

He seems like a nice guy huge fan of Stephen
Arrow, Flash, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow are GOAT shows!
Sorry, what. Lol...
Depends on the Season there were some pretty bad seasons
Only show I would give goat status to is arrow
@@morris01 you're high af
I always enjoy watching Stephen when he is on here. I love how honest he is about things going on in his life.

Mostly trying to stop a smoking trigger, so reducing nicotine and alcohol has made me more anxious. It isn't panic attack levels, but when I feel a craving coming on it's rough, especially when I wasn't prone to anxiety in the past.
Regular exercise has been shown to substantially reduce anxiety.
Just have to say proud of you my mom was in AA for a while and concoured that she is now 5 years sober and so proud of her anyone can do this I've also noticed that you have to switch your brain thinking in a new direction and that is the main thing alter what you think is true and tell yourself this is what you need also you have to listen to your inner being that tells you if you start to go the wrong way like for instance if you aren't feeling hungry but you eat and your stomach starts growling that is your inner being telling you not to take another bite so listen to each and every part of your body and it will tell you
Thats not anxiety it's withdrawal. Alcohol is a toxin

These are so good at showing the human/normal side of people in the entertainment industry. Also the vulnerability of humans that effects all of us.
Stephen Amell is one of my favorite people! I would really love to meet him some day!
"One is too much... And a thousand isn't that many" thats a powerful mentality to have 🔥
The Animated Flash w/ Green Arrow. Let's Go!
Excuse my excitement. I'm new to the podcast & will have to go back and watch the other episodes.
I hope I remember to bring this up at the Smallville con in Oct. The take Steven is giving on Alcohol is every bit of what I'm going through right now. His words are really hitting me.
This was soo nice just two friends chatting i could have listened to this for hours
I always love to revisit Arrow! Along with Tom, probably my favorite guest. Thanks for having him on.
It's been a while since I've listened to the pod but as usual I love it. I always love when Stephen is on the podcast.
I'm happy he is doing well , I've been dealing with a lot of stuff mentally so it always helps to listen that your not alone. Plus taking a break from Social Media is key
We love an Amell episode. Its like a family reunion.
My husband and I have been binge watching Arrow. We are loving it. Would absolutely LOVE to see a movie or limited series with Stephen back as Oliver. Never got into the original suits but will be sure to watch Suits LA when it airs.
Another great interview. You always do a great job with these interviews.
Great pleasure to see and listen again Stephen Amell whom i loved in Arrow 💚💚 ! Thank you Michael 💙💙👌 !!
Good to hear Stephan is doing so well!
Heels is such a great show. Soooo happy to see Netflix grab it. Netflix is perfect spot for it. If anything will be able to go back and rewatch the series.
Stephen’s patience had to be off the chart. “Here’s a question - Nah let me ask you a completely different one before you get 2 words in” 🤣 love it
Michael you need to invite Caity Lotz, please.❤🙏🏻
That would be great
She was there. I remember 1 time.
This episode was perfectly timed. As fans, we always knew Stephen was a hard, serious worker. Then Arrow ran its course and things happened and then we didn't hear from him in a while. It was really nice to hear him back in the saddle and with a new, interesting project he seems perfectly cast for.
Did you miss the two movies he did for netflix
Suits: LA is a thing! I had no idea, will be interesting to see what storylines they go with and how they develop the characters.
Follows a new group led by Ted Black, a former New York prosecutor who built an L.A. law firm that specializes in criminal and entertainment law.
Return of Stephen Amell Again! Awesome episode Michael 💙🤘

Studio looks incredible! Great conversation!
I am right there with Stephen. Family history has helped me identify that alcohol is not needed in my life!
Always my favorite episodes, I can’t wait to see why heels was canceled
Happy for Stephen to get the part. Huge Suits Fan here. Congrats Man!
Stephen is great! Can’t wait for Suits. And keep up the good work, I love the podcast

Michael what are you working on these days? The highlights are awesome man!
This reached me. Thank you.
Never seen an episode of Suits but you betcha I'll watch Suits LA. Stephen was right. It will find a new audience.
Everything Stephan is saying about alcohol I'm just nodding my head agreeing. I'm not alone. I was sober last month and I loved waking up early and being to myself. Drinking I'm dyeing to wake up.
Stephen was on Chris Van Vliet and now with Michael Rosenbaum!? Hell yeah!!
Heels was a great show!
