Frustrating all these years later for his fans. What could have and SHOULD have been. RIP = Greg.

Because of Army basic training/AIT I never saw him at his peak. My Browns fans and Steelers fans friends who saw him did nothing but rave. The phrase "better than Anderson" came up several times. And since I think Ken Anderson should be in Canton, that's impressive.

I saw Cook play that year, the guy was just amazing. What an arm he had and he could throw every kind of pass in the book.

It was astonishing what he did. I saw it live. A great, great talent.

I was a student at UC in 1969, and the Bengals were playing their home games that year at Nippert Stadium on the UC campus, so we saw all the games (from the 13th floor of Calhoun Hall...;) He was unbelievable, taking an expansion team and whipping the Raiders, the Broncos, and I don't remember who the other team was in that first stretch. So sad how his life ended up.

I'm 57 years old. I remember *both* my Grandpa *and* my Dad saying "there was NEVER another QB like him." I believed them. I wished I could have seen Greg play!!! RIP Greg.

Had Cook not gotten hurt and played to his potential, no one would have ever heard of Ken Anderson or he would have been an unknown backup like Turk Schonert or Jack Thompson

I am in my mid 60s, have been a Bengal fan (along with my father who hated the Cleveland Browns) since the first Bengal game in 68. Greg Cook in 1969 was electric. He made the whole team better. Each year you went into camp hopeful he could come.back, only to have your hopes dashed. He had every tool you want in a QB, big, fast, had a rifle arm, leadership, field command, hard worker, team respect. Huge disappointment he did not have the career he would have had. Bengals have still never won a Super Bowl. That would not be true if Greg Cook did not get hurt before medical technology to repair his shoulder existed.
