What a beautiful and well presented video. I am a deaf person, you have good clarity and thoroughly enjoyed this. I was never even considering a P45 having being directed from a Nikon Collectors group. Take care.
I have owned this camera since the 70’s. Done a lot of landscape work with it. I used to backpack it with a tripod up many trails. I’m too old to accomplish that now. Lol. Loved shooting slide film with it. The metering system is fantastic.
03:27 Quick tip: don’t switch out the prism without removing the lens first. If you do it with the lens still attached, you risk breaking the chain that transmits the aperture setting to the camera. 😱
This is by far my favorite video on the channel, watched it every month since I found it (in Nov. 2017) I fell in love with this camera and spoiled myself with one in 2018. I really enjoy every minute with it. I thought this comment may motivate you! I adore every one of your videos. Cheers 🤙🏼
All of the lenses for the 67, with few exceptions, are stunners. The both 75mm versions are marvelous, as are the 55 and 45. The often-ignored 135 Macro is fantastic and very light comparatively. The 165 is an amazing portrait/head-shot lens. The 67 is one of my favorites for landscape photos. Viewing a 6x7 slide from a newly dev'd roll for the first time is something that simply doesn't get old.
Ughhh I love these videos so much. I would never purchase this camera but I still learned things from watching the video and also it's just so well filmed and beautiful to look at.
As a matter of fact I've pretty much watched all your videos period for being such a young person you're really great at doing the reviews and showing your photography skills. Very impressed by you. The best of luck to you I'm sure I'll be seeing more of you
start with a TLR. You can get a Yashica-Mat quite cheap (£70-200)and the lenses on them are great. The problem with the Fuji rangefinders is that you can only get them in Japan and import taxes can be expensive.
Thomas A. Moore can confirm, Yashica Mat user here. and it even has a light meter built in. they are just not practical for super close-ups as you look through an offset lens which might lead you to focus on the wrong things. but other than that very easy to use
Regarding the mirror vibration, go for one with mirror lockup. The latest 67II it was very easy to flip the mirror just before you fired the shutter. So depending on the subject, sequence would be frame, flip the mirror fire the shutter. Quicker to do than say.
I used to use a Pentax 67 when I was at art college , Im talking about in 1983 way before digital came along, the focussing was always tricky because the screens are not so bright and it has a cross hatch type focussing circle which is pretty difficult even if your eye sight is good, anyway I liked the camera so much I bought one for myself and still have it, the first thing I did with it was to take it to a Pentax camera technician and get him to replace the focussing screen with an after market screen called Beattie, it is much brighter and has a split image focusing circle like a rangefinder so it is accurate and easy to focus, it really transforms the camera in my opinion. I like using it with a tripod, it slows the whole process down and makes you think more about your shots before clicking the shutter , only ten shots per roll of film, when I was a student if I didn't get 5 useable and different shots from one roll of film I felt like a failure!! It really is a discipline to use this kind of camera, very similar to using a large format 5x4, I would say the process is the opposite to using digital where the tendency is to take hundreds of pictures and then realise the image later at the editing selection and photoshop stage, with a film camera that takes ten shots you really need to realise the image pretty much at the taking stage so therefore a lot more care and thought and time is required.
I've got three bad boys! The 135 mm 'Macro' is my favorite portrait-head and shoulders lens. I've got two. The 55mm f3.5 is my next. The 100mm filters for it are mighty expensive. I also have a threesome of RB67s and a dozen backs and eight lenses. The 185 and 300mm are my favorites. Love the 50mm too. When everybody dumped film gear for digital I jumped at the chance to buy Medium format for pennies on the dollar.
OMG! Now I wanna have that camera :-( The results are stunning - especially the ones you shot of the model (didn't catch his name) are so dreamy and georgeous! Well done George... :-D
2 things, the 6x7 has a mirror lock up feature that is helpful in shooting lower speeds. The next thing is that there's a 90mm f/2.8 which which is similar to around a 45mm lens. You said you're interested in a bit wider lens, so I figured I'd mention it! Great review!
Look for a TLR, they are dirt cheap compared to MF rangefinders and SLRs. At the local camera show there was a table piled high with used Yashica and Mamiya TLRs selling for $20-40. Find one in good working shape and you're in.
Try looking into the Koni-Omaga or Mamiya 23 Press cameras. They're interchangeable lens rangefinders. The negatives are huge (6x7 and 6x9), and the cameras are dirt cheep. Koni-Omegas regularly sell for less than a hundred bucks with a normal lens on the Bay.
Great video. I love my 67. The custom right hand grips are a requirement for all day use. I disagree about the min shutter speed; it all comes down to technique. And props for being honest about it being a good camera, but not for you. That's the beauty of med. format, so many distinct choices.
The Pentax 67II is a fantastic camera and not only for portraits. The other lenses are fantastic as well; the 55mm and 45mm are great for street and landscape.
If you're struggling with focus on SLRs try an Olympus OM series SLR, as they have split image focusing in the centre of the viewfinder, it does mean you might have to aim off to what you want to focus on then recompose the image, but you certainly know the image is focused.
I opted for the RZ67. The Pentax is more practical as a walk around camera comparatively, but the leaf shutter lenses and modularity of the RZ won me over.
This video is sure to increase the demand for the Pentax 67 system. I'm glad I just got my P67II a few weeks ago. Now to get my hands on that 105mm lens...
Another great video, I've just unpacked my recently purchased 67 (ebay with the 105) and looking forward to running a few rolls through. I already had 3 Pentax 6 x 7 lenses I use on other cameras so for my film camera choice it made sense. I haven't shot film for decades and looking forward to a new learning process. Thanks :-)
you're a huge inspiration. and if it werent for this channel i probably wouldve never bought mysef a film camera. i started a series of my own and if anyone wanted to give it a look itd be much appreciated. i hope to be as talented as this guy right here
i'm actually on the other side in that i just despise using rangefinders, i find it takes me longer to get my focus then other slr's. and that's with and without a split image focusing screen. and alos i don't always trust each camera i try that the focus is ajusted right, since it's not looking through the lens. but that's just my taste ^^ hope i get to test a 6x7 soon :D
I would say, handhold pentax67 at 1/30 or even 1/15 is possible. The massive weight make it easy to counterbalance the mirror slap . You should give a go, you`ll know.
I am still saving money for it, and i think ill get the second one, I like that one more, than the III. and I saw one for £270 ish. How much for yours?
Where would you recommend purchasing film cameras from? I'm weary of making a large purchase, like the Pentax 67, on Ebay so are there more reliable online platforms that you recommend ?
This is beautiful! Although I would have thought the 645 was better for portraits because it's vertical to begin with, and the 6x7 would have been better for landscapes. But it's good to know it can do both as long as you stay over 1/60.
You should go to japan to do a video and they sell sooo many cameras everywhere. If you go, the city portraits are just addicting. Definitely visit Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto!!!
I have this camera as well, but with the 90mm lens, which is noticeably wider than the 105 (I bought it with the 90mm, they had a 105mm in the store, but i opted to go with the 90mm instead). When you say "Mamiya", are you referring to the RB or the RZ? Or the 6 or 7?
The shutter speed shake is not true! I've shot as low as a 30th, with a 75mm (35mm equivalent) and its fine! There was this article about it where they interviewed an engineer who built them, who said the curtain is already closed by the time any shaking happens. Awesome video tho :)
What would you recommend between a Pentax 67 and a Mamiya RB/RZ 67 for portraits? I see you just picked up the latter. My eyes are not what they used to be and I do worry about focussing on the Pentax without the aid of a split prism.
What a beautiful and well presented video. I am a deaf person, you have good clarity and thoroughly enjoyed this. I was never even considering a P45 having being directed from a Nikon Collectors group. Take care.
Every video from this channel has been high quality, enjoyable, George is fantastic, everything about this channel is so great.
Agreed!
Just thinking that 🙂
The people have spoken and I'm back
“You can definitely use it as a weapon”
Sold.
Great video! Pentax 6x7 aka "the beast" is a true legend, and that Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 105mm f2.4 lens is God tier.
Only true with the TTL metered prism, other prisms don’t come into contact with the chain✌🏼
This is by far my favorite video on the channel, watched it every month since I found it (in Nov. 2017)
I fell in love with this camera and spoiled myself with one in 2018. I really enjoy every minute with it.
I thought this comment may motivate you! I adore every one of your videos.
Cheers 🤙🏼
Love the fact you uploaded in 4k, this really helps when viewing this high quality pictures

The Pentax 6x7 is legend. This video inspired me to break out my Mamiya Pro TL today!
I just bought on of these. I'm excited!
Ughhh I love these videos so much. I would never purchase this camera but I still learned things from watching the video and also it's just so well filmed and beautiful to look at.

Pls review more inexpensive medium format cameras. I really want one but I don't know which one.
bySpiff what about the pentacon tl series or any number of rolliflex and Fuji cameras?
SavageCommaJade Lomo made one, maybe they still do.
Ahh, in the UK there seem to be plenty of Pentacons about for under £300, and Fuji's sometimes as low as £180

It feels like I wait around forever for another video, great work.

your voice is so soft and easy to listen to
The production quality of this video was so good
Good job, George! Love N.F. very much.
My absolute favourite camera. I've been using my one for almost 5 years now.
The model is an absolute beaut 💕

Yo trying to sell one
OMG! Now I wanna have that camera :-( The results are stunning - especially the ones you shot of the model (didn't catch his name) are so dreamy and georgeous! Well done George... :-D
You've read my mind George...was literally just think of looking for a Pentax 67 review...thanks dude!
So glad I ran across your channel! Absolutely love shooting film :)
Hyped tht the vids r back w some good old fs and hg
2 things, the 6x7 has a mirror lock up feature that is helpful in shooting lower speeds. The next thing is that there's a 90mm f/2.8 which which is similar to around a 45mm lens. You said you're interested in a bit wider lens, so I figured I'd mention it!
Great review!
I wish medium format wasn't so expensive:(
Matt Cooke Pentax 645 are cheap
Marschae Sanders your boy is broke
Matt Cooke I feel you my boi

Great video review!!! So much style and substance! I love the pacing of your release too. Not overbearing to yourself I hope and for the viewers! 👌🏽
after this review the price of the 67 is up another $100
I choose a Mamiya Press Standard, also with a 105lens, 6x9, interchangeable backs, rangefinder quality and not expensive at all
Great video. I love my 67. The custom right hand grips are a requirement for all day use. I disagree about the min shutter speed; it all comes down to technique. And props for being honest about it being a good camera, but not for you. That's the beauty of med. format, so many distinct choices.
LOVE YOUR VIDEOS DUDE
We miss you George!
Those Pentax lenses are some of the best ever made in the history of camera gear.
i am starting to love this channel
Love my RZ 67 Pro II. 6/7 is such a great format.
Gorgeous photos!
just before I was going to buy one. thank for opinion georgo, hope you like it
The Pentax 67II is a fantastic camera and not only for portraits. The other lenses are fantastic as well; the 55mm and 45mm are great for street and landscape.

What a shutter sound... simply WOW
its always nice to see a new video of you
George has such a calm voice
This video is sure to increase the demand for the Pentax 67 system. I'm glad I just got my P67II a few weeks ago. Now to get my hands on that 105mm lens...
Your videos are a work of art.
I love the American Psycho hoodie - that subtle off-white color.
💛 lovely work again.
Amazing pictures as always.
Picked up a Pentax 67 recently from Japan and I absolutely love the thing, although the shutter isn't exactly what you would call surreptitious
I hope to make film camera videos like yours in the near future, you guys are great!
this review came along at the perfect time as i am looking to buy a pentax 67
Your videos made me fall in love with film! I just bought a disposable camera for first time use
I use the 55mm f4 lens for portraits and general use.
My friend uses a 75mm f4 on his Pentax 67
Fly at 4:10 😅🪰
I regularly handhold my 6x7 at 1\30th with good results
The 55mm f4, the newest one is fantastic. I know people go on about the 105, and it is great, but there is so much more to this camera than the 105.
the quality of the photos are SO NICE it's actually tempting me to buy this but it is kinda expensive
That 6x7 neg is ridiculously sharp! Amazing...
important question was it difficult to use without the iso dial?
HES BACK
Useful. Have been looking seriously at the Pentax, but was unsure about which lens. 105 it is then.
My gosh, this thing is an absolute monster, and for sure it is intimidating. :D
Thanks :-)

These videos are the best
personally my fav camera atm
I wonder how you feel now about this camera since your workflow has changed up a bit. It would be great to hear your thoughts again.
"The camera is pretty modular"
SOUNDS LIKE MY KIND OF CAMERA
it doesnt go bleep bloop tho :/
such a good video - nice work!
i'm actually on the other side in that i just despise using rangefinders, i find it takes me longer to get my focus then other slr's. and that's with and without a split image focusing screen. and alos i don't always trust each camera i try that the focus is ajusted right, since it's not looking through the lens. but that's just my taste ^^ hope i get to test a 6x7 soon :D
I would say, handhold pentax67 at 1/30 or even 1/15 is possible. The massive weight make it easy to counterbalance the mirror slap . You should give a go, you`ll know.
love that snap sounds!
Just getting into this system. Had an rb67 before but it was too bulky.
I wish you mentioned about the mirror lock up feature. How slow of shutter speed is acceptable without the mirror lock up?
make a review on the Mamiya RZ67
I'd like to see a review of the fuji GW690 or GSW690 :~)
Matthew Girmon bump for this
Yes please
Second this
Does anyone recommend the GW690 II? I'm thinking of ordering one from Japan, the prices are pretty reasonable.
I am still saving money for it, and i think ill get the second one, I like that one more, than the III. and I saw one for £270 ish. How much for yours?
Have you tried shooting 35mm on a medium format camera? You can buy 3d printed adapters, and it could be a fun video idea.
Do you get the option of leaving the boarders on this camera ?
Where would you recommend purchasing film cameras from? I'm weary of making a large purchase, like the Pentax 67, on Ebay so are there more reliable online platforms that you recommend ?
Your channel is superb.
This camera is hot right now! Great video.
This is beautiful! Although I would have thought the 645 was better for portraits because it's vertical to begin with, and the 6x7 would have been better for landscapes. But it's good to know it can do both as long as you stay over 1/60.
Major camera envy 😍😍
beautiful shots! thanx :)
As more people try to their hand at film photography themed RUclips channels, yours continues to stand above the rest. Please keep it up!
Or the 6 or 7?
love pentax 67 and rollei SL66
Has it only been a week? Been missing this 🙏🏼
Did you use a filter for the daylight shots on your recent cinestill 800t episode? And if not, how did you get those colors?
The shutter speed shake is not true! I've shot as low as a 30th, with a 75mm (35mm equivalent) and its fine! There was this article about it where they interviewed an engineer who built them, who said the curtain is already closed by the time any shaking happens. Awesome video tho :)
Isaac Smith where can i watch the video about the engineer that u have just mentioned above?
Peter Cheung it wasent a video, and read about it on some forum somewhere. Long time ago, cannot remember where.
Good to hear!
Please may you review more consumer grade, accessible cameras too 👍 great video as always
What would you recommend between a Pentax 67 and a Mamiya RB/RZ 67 for portraits? I see you just picked up the latter. My eyes are not what they used to be and I do worry about focussing on the Pentax without the aid of a split prism.
Actually the best thing about this camera is the motion blur created by the mirror slam.
Could anyone enlighten me on the film shot for this video? I love the yellow and green tones and would love to test shoot a roll.
But SLRs typically have a patch in the middle as well? It’s different because it shows a split image but still, it’s the same concept.
