VERY nice looking shop, but not a fan of these stores with zero prices on various shelves. Means you have to go ask every time, and they can change them on the spot any given day.
@@TheGebs24 I don't doubt someone will come along and buy it, but I find it difficult to understand paying so much to own it in _that_ condition. Taking resale potential out of the equation, I probably wouldn't pay £20 for a box like that, nevermind £200. For me personally, the items in my collection are special to me, games that I enjoy looking at or interacting with. Opening that tatty box will never give me that feeling. I'll probably never own a big-box Super Metroid because the prices for a good condition one are far more than I'm willing to pay, but I'm fine with that! I still have a lot of other items to enjoy (tbh I'd rather own the Super Famicom version which has much nicer artwork!).
@@TheGebs24 Sadly it's not. But the fantastic Syndicate Wars is. So is Policenauts. It's still a good game, far more accessible than the original two which I never got into.
£200? No chance! The nostalgia for this stuff is going to peak at some point in the next few years, and the generations below wont have the affinity for this stuff that folk of our vintage have ... watch the pricing on things like this take a tumble then.
I hope you're right. I don't care that some games I paid £10 for are now worth £100 because I'm never going to sell them anyway, but I'd love to be able to pick up some of the things I didn't buy back then for a reasonable price
6:16 - Oh, the Logic3 Games Station! I've got one of these up the loft with my old PS1, forgot all about it until this video. They really worked a treat for sitting your PS1 and controllers directly underneath your TV.
I Used to pop in there on a regular basis many years ago, ages since I've been to Castleford though! Always has some nice rarities in the cupboards. There's a retro game shop in Scarborough that I've been in a few times, think its called the Game Pad, small shop but's it's packed floor to ceiling, one of those places where you really have to have a good rummage! Worth a visit if you're ever out that way! There's a retro toy shop in Filey too that stocks quite a few games, only a 20 minute drive away from Scarborough :).
Totally agree completely missed opportunity on the SNES advance. But it feels every gen there is some missed opportunities. But it be fair it is like 30+ years of history to try and pay homage to.
@TheGebs24 True. There's one on an auction for £100 with one bid that looks better (still not mint though )Was looking for the box only to complete your set but can't see one
I still have my cassette box, just like the one in your video, but in black, and indeed it once had Commodore 64 cassette tapes inside 🙂 Now I store my old 90's music cassette tapes in it, 90's music recorded from radio. Actually some of these cassettes are repurposed C-64 tapes 😆
Big box Metroid was in my local Electronics Boutique around the PS1 era for 3 years on the shelf and nobody picked it up. I was bamboozled by PS1/Saturn at the time so never gave it a look either. It was £70 if memory is correct. Mind £70 in 1995/6/7 was quite a bit of money then. I never buy games that are less than 8/10 condition. Just finished Wavetale on the switch, quite a good game for the 5/6 hours it takes to complete., very easy going and a good story. I have moved away from using original hardware pre HDMI except GC/PS2 including handhelds, A GBA SP standard screen is just so lame these days.
mmm populous on ps1, I loved it. I remember when i was sick like 25 years ago and i spent whole 2 weeks nolifing this game, still didnt finish but it was fun lol
@TheGebs24 OK cool on Axelay, I think that Pinky and the Brain is a Pal exclusive, we didn't get it in America. Great game, if you come across it, it's a hidden gem.
i'm glad you didn't pick up that Super Metroid, it's missing the inside lids, and has too much damage on the corners and otherwise, to me the fact that the lids are missing, means i would just throw that box in the trash, as it's broken and incomplete, not spending money on crap like that, that should just be sold as loose cart + players guide
I wouldn't pay 200 for a second hand game where no money goes to maker of the game. But I didn't know they did big box Nintendo so thanks for entertaining me
No, personally I wouldn’t even look twice at that large box Super Metroid in that condition. And regarding Silent Hill, Silent Hill 3 is my personal favourite of the franchise. Silent Hill 2 is my close second but i always liked SH3 more.
Personally I think 3 could've been really good if they hadn't packed every corner with bullet sponges. I think it actually takes away from the atmosphere. Reminds you you're playing a game. There's also a few another annoyances like those pits you can fall down. Really not.a great addition to a game that's mostly in the dark with awkward camera angles. It does still look fantastic on a CRT though. One of the best looking PS2 games.
@TheGebs24 Yeah, but you would only be gaining the damaged box that you haven't already got. As you already have the book and game. That is what Adam is saying I think.
I bought my big box copy Super Metroid from game station on the last day of my work experience back in 2005 for £20 which I got from the placement. I then sold it for £130 in 2020 just at the start of the retro gaming boom and mine was in much better condition than this one 😢 I was happy to let it go as I have a MIB super famicom copy 🥳
It was £200 for the ENTIRE game; not the box. I’m sorry if I was not clear. BARGAIN
probably a fair price. The condish tho

Always great to support local shops but you can get it complete on Ebay from £125 so a bit steep considering it wasn't in perfect shape.
