They're very similarly voiced. I'd be happy with either of them. The only down fall of the Tex Mex is they tend to 'squeal' on high gain settings. The Lollars are wax potted, so they don't 'squeal'. But either is a good choice.
Dropped a set of Fralin Blues Special into a Squier CV50's Tele a few months and thought I won the lottery!! Great video and playing! I'm between the special t and CS Texas special, the special t Bridge is killing it in this video, its almost like p90, what a tone, you should do a video with some overdrive for the lollar pickups. Thank you so much for sharing this.
Oh thanks so much. Yeah, i love the Lollar tele pickups. Very P90! I was actually planning on doing another comparison video with different aged Roadworn Tele's with Lollars and TexMex pickup's. If i ever get around to it, i'll be sure to make some OD tones too. Thanks for the comment ;-)
Great question. The truest answer I can give you is I don’t know. I’m almost certain is it hum cancelling, but if you can hear some hum in the video it might be coming from cameras/lights/recording gear/etc. But I’m almost certain they are hum cancelling in middle position
Maybe you’ve wired something wrong. Try to swap the black and white wires on your neck pickup - that might work (but I’d double check a schematic first.) Good luck with it 💯
Thanks! Problem is middle position is not out of phase so switching white and black might kill the hum but will result in an out of phase sound. I can’t find anything on the TexMex Tele about RWRP. Only that the Strat pickup middle is reversed. On the other hand the TexMex Set is so popular I cannot believe people don’t care about hum cancellation.
Hmmm - good point. It still might work. Can’t hurt to try, even if it just rules it out. I’ve had similar problems with guitars like this. You can always take it to a guitar tech and let them figure it out. Hope you get it sorted. Good luck with it
@@justinpaquette224 I spent some time looking for this kind of tone cap for this set up. Sounds great and honky when it's wound down into an overdriven amp.
