This is funny but cool from 1975. Didn’t know there was a Ghostbusters Saturday morning show in 1975. I grew up with the 1986 Filmation Ghostbusters. I was 2 in 1975 and 13 in 1986 : )
Cool intro. Now I'm more intrigued than ever to see at least one episode of this show. (All I've ever seen was the animated sequel when it aired back in the 1980's.)
and the FUCKING Nostalgia Critic says Speed Racer has an unexplained Chimp while old films like this has a Gorilla ghostbuster. Either way this is better than the 2016 movie!
kenji harima Yeah, but they were pretty crummy ones. And ya still saying it's better than something nobody's actually seen in full yet. Even though you'll probably be right after the movie's out.
I just watched a making of Ghost Busters movie. They had a battle with Filmation for the name. During production in NYC they had extras chant GHOST BUSTERS!! and then working title GHOST BREAKERS! over a pay phone call to Columbia Pictures offices. After hearing how bad the latter sounded they instantly worked like crazy to get the title we all know and love. Who ya gonna call?
The Virgin All Female Reboot: Women have the main roles. Actually angered people who like the original movies. Played right into the hands of feminazis. The Chad 1975 TV Show: Had a fckin gorilla. "We're clever, courageous, and strong." 1970s TV hidden gem.
I watched this for Tucker & Storch, the dumb groaner jokes, and that almost vaudeville intro song. Did anyone know that Storch voiced the very first animated Joker, with Ted Knight (who I think guested on this show) as Penguin? The Dynamic Duo, one of whom voiced Shaggy, versus Corporal Agarn and Ted Baxter!
Ted Knight also voiced Joker at least once in that Batman show. Along with the narrator, Gordon, and the rest of the villains (except Catwoman of course.)
I think it might be interesting if a Pulp Fiction-era Quentin Tarantino did a film remake-adaptation of this "original" Ghostbusters 👻, using a somewhat *grittier* style of capturing and/or exorcising ghosts. Maybe including a running theme of a mafia-style war between the two different factions of Ghostbusters...
Jake Kong-The tough, daring straight-man Eddie Spencer-The cowardly, middle-man Tracy the Gorilla-The comedic, bumbling foil Ghost Buggy-The antique car, before it became interchangable and the "ornery old man" type!
To add to the confusion of the "Ghostbusters" franchise, Kong was the name of one of the humans.....the gorilla was named Tracy. They really should have given the other Ghostbusters franchise a different name, like Ghostchasers. Or maybe make the first Ghostbusters movie a direct sequel to this original series, with the four Ghostbusters of the movie being trained by Spencer and Kong to replace them after the original ones retire.
Is this the same Bob that 'houses' that incredible movie prop collection including a lot of the Nostromo from Alien and heads from An American Werewolf in London.
DerekBayRoberts1 Hell no! . .. absolutely nothing related or in common but the name. The popular 1984 movie was made in the wake of Poltergiest ( by which it was obviously influenced and was a little bit of a satire of ) and had a modern setting. Interesting that the animated Filmation version of the mid 1980's was just an next generation from the original, being that the two main guys in the series are the sons of Spencer and Kong.

The 1984 movie isn’t a remake, it’s a completely different property than this 70s show. They even had to pay the rights to the owners of this show to use the name for the 1984 movie.

Believe it or not, Columbia Pictures did have to get permission from Filmation to use the "Ghostbusters" title.
Rightly so
If they didn’t get it, perhaps the movie would’ve been Ghost Chasers.
@Joe Nesvick And that would have led to other problems.
