- Hey y'all! Mariah's microphone may have been on, but mine definitely wasn't and I didn't realize until I started editing, so sorry this video sounds like it was recorded in a cave. We'll work on that. This was my reaction to Mariah's surprise performance of "The Art of Letting Go" for the Lambs on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon back in 2013. Mariah always talks about having to wear certain dresses that Tommy picked out and in the beginning of her career she was always in that Vision of Love little black dress so she’s mostly referencing that and the fact that Tommy controlled her career down to what she wore

8:26 it’s not necessarily a specific dress she just didn’t like when they made her wear those trench coats and church dresses in mostly music box to the end of daydream lol, in this era in like 2013 she usually wore No shade but stripper dresses 😭 well to be fair that was only in like music videos

She was not talking about American Idol… this was about her first marriage. The dresses she is referring to are the same dresses Tommy had her wearing over and over. They chose their on wardrobe on AI with their own stylists

I think She’s referring to her Tommy years. She says: and I stayed and I stayed and I wore them dresses and I did that shit that I hated. She was covered up to the neck, she was forced to sing bland ballads, etc.
7:53 So when her career first started, the record label and her soon-to-be husband (and later, ex-husband) the CEO of Sony Music, used to make her wear dresses that were to the ankles and up to her neck and flannel shirts and trench coats basically anything to keep her covered up as well as controlling a lot of aspects of her creativity and the type of music she did, not letting her collaborate with certain artists, etc. It wasn’t until Butterfly that she started being much more herself with her music and her image.
This was right after American Idol, she had been very vocal about how unhappy she was during her time with the show and had a few people pressed 😂 she wore many different gowns during that season

First one is her full concert in Melbourne in 2013 I think it was for the triumphant tour.
I'd love to see your reaction to Mariahs full concert in 2018 in Manila. She had some amazing vocal moments.

I think she’s talking about the wedding dress, perhaps all the dresses Motolla chose for her to wear. That’s isn’t anything about the AI era or neither stuffs about Minaj.
She's referring to the dresses she had to wear while married to Tommy. Her say was limited and her wardrobe was a board room meeting. She didn't want to be conservatively dressed and be "old" before her time.

i felt like it was her ex manager that push she thru many tv programs, did tv performances. when she's on american idol, beautiful released. the track reached top20 in hot100 plus she was in good shape. then she fell off the stage or something so everything delayed like a year. she wore long sleeve glove in that arm and gained weight a bit. people teased her like photoshop diva for album cover. beautiful could not push up the album coz it's too late. you're mine is only another music video as i remember.
this album should be more famous if there's no such thing happened.
