- WE VISIT TWO FAMOUS RUclips CASTLES IN ONE WEEK! What's better than an invitation to spend the weekend at Chateau St. Germain de Pres in the Dordogne with Steve and Sara? Receiving ANOTHER invitation the following weekend at the Chateau de Lalande from Stephanie Jarvis! Double the fairytale adventures, double the fun!! And even better, there were beautiful new chateau friends to meet from the Chateau Puy Vidal. I even squeezed in a little of my own Chateau DIY! It was an incredible week of festivities: Canada Day, Birthdays, Antique Shopping, Chateau Renovation, Gifts, Cooking, Sights, and Tremendous Silliness!!!

ABOUT US:
Hello! I’m Vivienne, the châtelaine of a small 19th century neo-Renaissance castle in the Loire Valley of France, which I share with my delightful (and wonderfully funny!) husband, Simon, our daughter, and -whenever possible- lovely friends and family.
This is not our first chateau! 20 years ago, we bought a much larger castle nearby, which we loved with all our hearts. However, nearly 18 years, many happy memories, countless renovations, and several small fortunes later, we made the very difficult, empty-nesting decision to downsize. With great luck and perseverance, we found our current petit château, which we are now decorating and updating with love, humour, comfort, and -of course- antiques and art!
We adore France and its many unique facets: its people, culture, landscapes, wine, food, art, and history. We also love being surrounded by châteaux, both public and private, which we can explore together! After 20 years here, we have learned many things about living in France, renovating châteaux, and appreciating the extraordinary riches surrounding us. We originally decided to make these videos as a way to share our lives with our loved ones worldwide during the pandemic lockdowns. However, we soon realised that many others are at home alone, and it is our privilege to open our home to you, our new friends. We hope you will join us on our adventures in this exceptional location, and we look forward to sharing a little Château Love!

The hallmark of a great Vlog is when you are disappointed when it's over. So much beautiful content Ms. Vivienne - we follow CD & M&M so have already seen snippets of you during their Vlogs but you have captured so much in these 30+ minutes. The architecture, landscape, glorious food, brocantes and most importantly the joy of being with good friends was a pleasure to watch. One of my favorite experiences was standing in Jeanne D'Arc's footsteps in Chinon so loved seeing your Bisque Porcelain. Happy Birthday to you and Merci!

Just lovely! It’s wonderful how as Simon said “ like minded people” come together and that the “ spirit of adventure “ is alive in France. My husband and I would love to take the plunge but we have 3 beautiful grandchildren that we would miss so perhaps for now we will just plan on visiting. Chateau hopping so to speak! Hi Vivienne, your antique white biscuit (or bisque) porcelain figurine/small vase is called a spill vase. These vases were used in the 19th and early 20th centuries, usually placed on a fireplace mantle. Spill is small tight wooden cones that were made from wood shavings, or thin wooden sticks. These shavings or sticks were placed into the little vase and used for transferring the flame from the fireplace to light a nearby stove, candle or smoking pipe. These spill vases were made in a variety of beautiful romantic figurine forms such as ladies, angels,
children, animals and flowers. They can be easily found online and at brick and mortar antique marketplaces. They are are charming reminder of the past!

I was unable to watch your vlog as soon as it appeared this morning Vivienne, so I waited until I could watch it at night on the bigger screen of my television. Thank you for showing us so much of the happy weekends and taking us along on the brocantes visits especially with all the lovely Chateau friends. What an unbelievable find you got in that fabulous gold clock, it’s absolutely gorgeous! I love seeing all the renovations you and Simon do but I can never forget the bedroom where you used the pale blue silky material over the bed. That material was stunning. I adored that episode (must watch again) and I also had bathroom envy in the white marble bathroom you both created, and your wonderful idea of hanging that embroidered linen as a privacy curtain on the window. But I just find it fascinating to see the events covered by various perspectives. One will see and notice things that someone else doesn't. Or they may get more up close coverage.
