I'm new to JDM tuning and aftermarket installs and honestly you're videos are what made me get my 23 Premium WRX. You show what, where, and why and that's honestly what I needed. I'm a visual learner and I have a hard time just reading a paper and understanding what it means. I've only been a mechanic for 6 years and I'm still learning and this will be my first turbocharged import I've ever worked on. Thank you for helping us new tuners learn the right way to do these mods and giving us the confidence we need to keep this culture/lifestyle going without having to pay someone else to build it for us. You gained a new long term subscriber. I really appreciate what you do and hopefully one day I'll get to see you on the road. Cheer friend.
Jeremy thanks for much for your positive feedback. It's nice to you notice the level of detail and explanation I put into these types of install videos. So glad you find the video informative and helpful. Thanks for subscribing, lots more WRX and GTR content coming to my channel. You might see me someday at a car event or show. Come say hello.👍
So theres increasingly more folks buying and installing parts on youtube but your time you take to show high quality ahots of CONNECTORS, GASKETS, and some of the possible PITA steps of the install won you another sub. This is the type of content i truly dig!!! Thank you!
Charge piping + Intercooler made a huge difference on my car. The car can finally make power up top. The sound is awesome, the thinner metal charge piping lets you really hear the turbo working. Dmann tuned 340/380
Wow that is some impressive numbers. I would be more than happy with those power figures and the car would still be reliable. This platform is so good! I am so glad I bought this car and after 15k miles, still no regrets. Having so much fun with it so far. I am not sure if I want to go with a top mount or a FMIC. I love how aggressive the FMIC looks hiding behind the front bumper. I had a Blitz FMIC on my 02 WRX over 20 years ago. I am kind of leaning going that way again. I wish more companies would release their after market parts for this platform. Cobb and Perrin need to get their products released to market. Would love to see some HKS stuff as well. Thanks for watching and have fun with your VB!
@@momsbasement656 Cobb has been under the EPA's microscope for a number of years; everything they release is now going to take longer and most likely make less power. They have to submit all parts for Carb certification and the tunes can no longer disable or change emissions equipment or anything even remotely related to it. The sad thing is, many "die hard" car guys will still vote for the very people who pass bills that take away our right to modify our cars.

It’s in your head, the increased volume of those charge pipes will actually lower turbo response as there is now more volume to pressurize. However, the effects would be marginal.
Thanks man, glad you think it sounds good too. You got to listen to the audio clip for the Perrin Intake. Also installed the Perrin turbo inlet. I cant wait to show that video when product us released to market. Turbo makes sounds like a semi truck with the inlet. Thanks for watching.
when you pull off the original pipe and pull the o ring out there is a plastic tapered ring that will fall out as well that you dont need to use after but keep it with your stock pipe.i found it laying on the floor after and figured it out after cause its keyed tabs and fits in slots behind where the o ring sat
Nice video, love that you cover every aspect of the install....so many people are quick to say '5 minute install!' when that is hardly ever the case 😂 My 22 has a MASSIVE boost leak coming from the stock charge pipe connector. It looks like a gasket/o ring was pinched after installing my pitch stop. I've adjusted it 5 times now and it still leaks....just gonna go with aftermarket and eliminate that garbage connector entirely.
Glad it was helpful! I appreciate someone who likes to see the little details of the install. I try to show what I would want to see if I was watching an install video. I had the same issues with a boost leak after install my Cobb pitch stop, I had a leak from the intercooler seal to the throttle plate. My max boost was down 2psi or so. Thanks for watching, lots more to come, Perrin FMIC video will be coming soon.
Perrin says no tune is required to run this charge pipe. Personally my car run perfectly with the stock tune and Cobb stage 1 tune. Thanks for the sub and for watching. Have fun with your VB.
Glad you liked the video. If you look in the infotainment screen under settings, you can change from KPA to PSI or from MPH to KPH. Thanks for watching.
2022 Premium- does changing the charge pipe add any measurable horsepower? I am likely going to buy an AEM cold air intake and I am wondering what the cumulative effect of the charge pipe and the freer flowing filter will do to the overall horsepower increases. I spent some pretty good cabbage on the extended warranty and will likely not be doing any tuning - at least none that would void the warranty if I were caught😅 Thanks in advance for any responses. By the way, this is a really beautiful location!
I think the intake paired with the turbo inlet would give you more HP over the charge pipe. I am not sure how much HP the charge pipe adds. I could feel a slight difference, maybe 5HP would be my guess.
Perfect, thanks for the info on that one. I will most definitely have to reach out to Perrin Performance and try to be one of the 1st to get my hands on that, so I can make a full video review. Thanks for watching!
You could also look into Perrin's cold air intake! It sounds pretty sick. You could may be install both the TMIC and the cold air intake in the same video.

By the way, is the charge pipe for the top mount intercooler still up for consideration??
I love your detailed instructions! I hope cobb makes one or i might get the perrin. Are induction nosies increased? Also where are you located those views are so pretty.
Glad to hear you enjoy the high detailed install vids. That is Carbonado Bridge going towards the Carbon River Ranger Station on the way to the Mount Rainier National Forrest. Some beautiful scenery out there. and well worth the drive. I actually shot about an hour of video out there. I did not have time to edit it all this week. I will share some more of the driving footage on the Turbo Smart dual port BOV video next week. Thanks for watching.
So set up is slightly different now. Running Perrin FMIC, intake and turbo inlet. Sounds awesome and makes lots of extra turbo noises. ruclips.net/video/pPAvFHt6jc4/видео.html
Perrin says that no tuning is required. I am running the 93 octane OTS map. My AFR values are the same before and after the install. AFR of 11.25 at 15 PSI boost to redline. Car feels good.

Gary, that is the Carbonado Bridge. Its about 35 minutes away from us. Its a beautiful road and amazing drive. Lots of dirt, sand, mud, ice and snow on the roads out there right now. @@JDMRightHandDrive Thanks, so I just "drove" some of that in google maps. Man it is beautiful. Maps calls it the Fairfax Bridge. I would sure watch any footage of that road if you upload it.
Induction noise is slightly louder. If you really want extra sound, you need to add the intake. I also have the Perrin prototype inlet on my car and that thing makes turbo noises like a semi truck.
After I installed the Cobb Pitch Stop in my car I noticed the boost gage was reading 2 psi lower at full throttle than before. I had a leak from where the intercooler meets to the intake manifold or the charge pipe. That is why I removed the intercooler in this video was to make sure those seals were seated correctly before tightening everything down. My boost presser was back.
I took the fan out for this install video, but if you get the car up on ramps and remove the lower under tray I think you could easily do the clamp from underneath without having to remove the fan. Good luck and have fun with your VB.
The Cobb looks like a very nice option as well. I like that it has a bracket to secure the pipe to the timing cover area. Plus that once piece direct connection to the turbo should clean things up and make the install easier. I like how the Perrin tappers more smoothly where the pipe changes in size compared to the Cobb. Both would work depending on what brand preference you like.
@@JDMRightHandDrive yeah i wish the cobb pipe was mandrel bent like the perrin. Dont care for the welds on it either. Perrin does looks smoother. Also i thing the rubber coupler between the turbo and charge pipe on the perrin help as a thermal barrier too. Not to speed up warming of the actual pipe.
I want to change the perrin charge pipe like you. but I don't know if it has any effect on the engine? and do we need to adjust the map or do a dyno test? Please give me advice . Thanks !
