I'M canadian, came here 6 months for 6 years....Wounderful place, nice people, low insecurity, cheap bus fare available everywhere to anywhere, best fresh food, nice beaches, inviting cities and full of historic sites but the best....Sunny most of the time... Doctors come to your house if you need. Low prices everywhere except for gaz...1$/liter actually, kinda high for the salary they make.
If you love everybody so much, why is your immigration policy soooo strict. I thinking you love the gringo money. When the dollar stops the love stops hey Mexican.?
It was a great short video. Only wish it was longer. visited San Miguel many years ago and loved it. I'm heading soon toward Merida and hope my paradise will be in the Yucatan. Bravo to you for taking the leap when you did. I'm 65 and just wish I'd gone sooner. I want to live my life by the position of the sun in the sky rather than watching a watch. Bless you!
I traveled to the Yucatan in the early 70's, I was in my twenties. I went there several times, 5, 6 mos. at a time. This was WAY before Cancun or any of that stuff. It was undeveloped, virgin. No tourists. Very few people visited there (I'm talking about Quintana Roo) because of its remoteness. Merida is one of my favorite places but the Yucatan is not the "paradise" it once was.
MEXICO is UNIQUE AND EXTRAORDINARY!!! The country where anyone can be truly happy!!! As a proud mexican that loves his country I only expect for all the foreign people that comes from the US and other countries that if Mexico has given you the life you enjoy right now then you love, respect and defend it against all media that describes Mexico in a way that is totally false! Yoúre living the REAL MEXICO!!! and now you know THE TRUTH!! VIVA MEXICO!!!!!
I have been living in Mexico for a year now and love it! The Mexican people are warm and friendly. Always eager to help those of us that speak little Spanish. The culture is different and not as fast paced as in America. Local food is outstanding and reasonably priced.
Don't stereotype white people...Most of the people I know ,Love the Mexicans. But in our society we are taught by the different media outlets to make fun or dislike anyone that is different than we are. For example...most of my adolescent years, I watched T.V Westerns, and my mind was ingrained into believing that { All Mexicans Wore White Clothes, Drank Tequila, had Burros, and Slept sitting against an adobe hut, While wearing a Sombrero } And the News never had anything positive to say about Mexico either { and they still don't } You're going to have people on both sides that dislike each other. I married a Mexican and we experienced the Love & Hate from both sides. Racism & Hate Will Unfortunately--Never End...
Finally someone notices the same thing i did, and YES thats why i respect other latin countries like puerto Rico or Bolivia because they actually LOVE their people and culture
Estas personas viven en un bello pueblo llamado San Miguel de Allende en el estado de Guanajuato en México. Un bello y tranquilo lugar. (Solamente que es muy caro por lo cosmopolita que es).
I find it very lovely that american people (or any other country) find the peace and simple lifestyle of Mexican traditional living inspiring and healing. I don't believe in boundaries/borders and Mexico IS a welcoming country, which is one of the reason why foreigners not only go to Mexico but decide to stay. I find it even more interesting that when they do decide to stay, they don't take the time to learn about the culture, the language and the political/economical system, which is an essential part of becoming a local in their new chosen community. Mexico IS NOT a third world country! And I don't say that because I was born and raised in Mexico. Learn about the differences between a third world and a developing country. They are infinitely different.
mexico is not a third world country their people enjoy universal health care and has a strong and growing middle class their quality of life has improved, mexico has security problems related to the drug war but is working on reducing the crimes and stabilizing the country hell if this problems make mexico a third world country then the united states is a third world country too with all the shooting going on lately in public places like schools ,churches, night clubs, movie theaters etc also the united states citizens doesnt have a universal health care system some of the Nordic nations like Norway ,sweden make the united states look like a third world country with higher standards of living.
en México son bienvenidos todos los extranjeros que quieran hacer algo de probecho y gozar de la hospitalidad de su gente y de los privilegios y recursos con los que cuenta este gran país ! ...mi casa es su casa !!!

Indeed, there's a lot of that, But Brownsville 5 years ago was one of the safest places on USA, today not so much, but the place still is a pretty clean and safe.
fascinating! my wife is a native speaker and my Spanish is pretty good, We will be spending most of our retirement in Latin America, hopefully several months here.
I live in Southern California, we have many Mexican people here too, they are very nice. I would like to visit your country more, but I would live in my own country.
I've lived in San Miguel de Allende off and on over the last 4 years. It starts to feel like a very small town after a while. The thing to remember about living in a town like SMA is no matter how gringonized the city might feel you are still a foreigner, you need Mexican solutions to Mexican problems. You are going to encounter some anti-Americanism here and there but no more than you would find in Berkeley or Portland, success breeds contempt.
+Al Barcenas I live in Texas, and I love the Mexican people. They are my neighbors, co-workers, and friends. My roommate and best friend is Mexican as well. I wish I had the money and opportunity to move down there-I would do it in a heartbeat.
Your always welcome Mexico may not be the best country but it's not bad either the news tends to attack us all the time but you will will never know until you come here and experience it for yourself I am from celaya guanajuato about 30 miles from San Miguel DE allende where 20% of the people are Americans and they help the community a lot and are very friendly people
Al Barcenas I know the area you're from. My roommate is from Juventino Rosas . Sorry I probably didn't spell that right! I've seen lots of videos from the area, I really like it! Well, most countries have problems, none of them are perfect. It's the people that count. I really like the people and the culture of Mexico. I'm working very hard on my Spanish!
@Love2TravelAway I'm often surprised and ashamed by what people from my country say. We don't all feel that Mexico is 3rd world (I don't like that expression at all). I LOVE Mexico (the people, the culture, the land) and hope to live there one day.
Its very easy to get a work/ residency visa. Takes about 7 to 30 days and about 230$ US. Google "FM3" and "FM2" FM3 lets you live and work for a year. Then you renew it every year for 5 years. Then after 5th year you may apply for FM2 which is good for 5 years. After you apply for another 5 years you will be offered dual Mexican/US citizenship. So do your visa stuff for 10 years and become dual citizen....Or marry a local lol! But seriously, easy to get. Lived there for 4 years : )
@shwtym1 Move to Mexico city or the State of Mexico, I grew up in Cuidad Satelite, there's acces to everything ,shopping malls, restaurants and lots of recreation, and just a few minutes from Mexico City, but it's an older place similar to Seattle. To work there you have to speak spanish and get an appoiment with the mexican embassy. Housing can be pricey, but usually about 150-200k USD, it's one of the safest places.
I have been to Mexico many times and I loved it. The REAL Mexico, not the resorts. But the idea of permanently moving to ANY other country is just foreign to me.

Caren Cross you are so lucky to be living in San Miguel , I would give 2 legs to leave the northeast U.S.A. with its very long winters and brutal 90s summers All winter long the pain is umbarable with the cold and arthritis and I can't get pain medications due to peptic ulcers. It is awful here with the weather and living here without a car is being homebound their is no transportation and too poor to afford a car on a fixed income . Too poor to get out of hell.
I am a European and i can say Mexico reminds me more of Europe then the USA does....i really don't understand this.. maybe its the climate similarity's of southern Europe and the Spanish Guitar...here in Europe we have siesta at 12 o clock and everybody stops working to chill out because its to hot..And the houses are all painted a bright color with the old wooden doors just like in Southern Europe...The people of the US forgot their heritage and should be more respectful to other cultures.
@Jdc73112 That you need to be more aware of what your country produces when it comes to Mexicans. You think it is because Mexicans "are a certain way" that US nationals perceive Mexicans badly. What I'm telling you is that that is ignorant, USA has been taking advantage and trying to produce negative images of Mexico for MANY years. Go to any tourism sites and notice how many foreigners (in and out of USA) say Mexico isn't what USA makes it to be.
Hello from Michigan, US. Our rental lease is up in August. Thinking seriously abbout moving to Mexico too. We both are on disability with an combined income of 1750.00 per month, I know we can make it there, but in the future I did to make it on my own. can I do this on $1100.00 per month down there. Been watching your videos for a few days now. Good tips and awesome information. Do you know if I can collect my disability down there

Interesting video. Don't the Mexicans resent the presence of Americans or are they friendly towards 'foreigners'?
We respect everyone we feel honored when people from other countries visit mexico!
Al Barcenas They're not visiting - they've moved there permanently!
people from USA or another country, they will be welcome. It does not import if it's for visit or live :)
