    I have the plat card. The 5x MR isn’t really useful for hotels though, only flights. Booking non-refundable directly with hotel is 30% cheaper but carries only 1x MR. Booking through Amextravel to get the 5x means paying couple hundred more and your Elite Status will NOT work during that trip. You won’t be able to upgrade your room or get free breakfast (eg. Hilton Gold). Kinda ironic that the Plat card offers elite status but using the card on amextravel renders the status useless. I use Chase Reserve to book hotels for the 3x.

    Maybe the Blue Cash Preferred card should be the third member of this trifecta. 6% cash back on groceries up to $6000 per year is hard to pass up. This is something EVERYONE can and probably will use their card for, so you don't really have to buy non-essentials to cash in and pay back the fee. $95 annual fee, and a potential $360 back just in groceries (you get 6% back on streaming services and 3% back on transit and gas as well) makes this card pay for itself many times over. Seriously considering this one.

  • @jeanpremier4
    @jeanpremier4 4 года назад

    The amex 200 dollar fee credit is actually very easy to understand. As long as you're not trying to move from basic to business or first class or out right purchasing the airline ticket then its probably covered. You just choose the domestic airline and charge those incidental fees. Reward booking fees, airline lounge yearly fee, baggage, cancellation fee, change fee, drinks and food while flying. Even if the airline adds these incidentals to your airline ticket just call amex platinum and explain...9/10 they take your word for it...oh, and dont try buying gift cards with the airline..they can tell and those are not covered

      Daoud Ahmed not to mention that AE “benefits” are always much harder to use. He starts the video by complaining the new CSR benefits only benefit 20% of people but the AE trifecta is “worse” for 90-95% of people unless you really go out of your way to extract all the benefits, travel all the time to/from places with centurion lounges, stay at fancy hotels, etc. The AE ceiling is higher but much harder to extract the value for most people.

    I thought AMEX have a “once in a lifetime“ bonus rule so that you can only get a sign on bonus for one of their cards once in your whole life. So you can’t sign up for the gold card and get that bonus and then sign up for the platinum card and get that bonus too. It would just be one or the other. Isn’t that true?

    Also question do a video how to Utilize both Chase and Amex Trifecta when you have both. when do I pull out chase and when do I pull out Amex? about the same. Travel always amex. Food always amex gold. Gas now is freedom when Do I use the unlimited? or the Preferred ? I fought hard to get these chase cards. now I feel I don't use them much! I'm new both haven't spent or redeemed any points yet have about the same 100k in UR points and 130k in amex. 94k in delta sky miles. what now? no more SUBs . feel like the fun is over.

    Hey Brian, love your videos. quick suggestion, if you put things like the flowers in the last video, or a painting or something, that would really spruce up the room and help with the video ambiance. You already do a great job with the info and your talking, but the background could use a little help imo :)

  • @TheRobSJ
    @TheRobSJ 4 года назад +1

    Can someone clear this up for me. One of the benefits of the Platinum Amex is a complimentary additional Gold card.
    Does that mean you can use that Gold card for the 4x for restaurants and grocery stores in addition to getting all the benefits with the Platinum card when you use that one?
    That can’t be right can it? Other than not getting the welcome points, you’d be saving $250 a year for the AF for having a separate Gold account.

    • @DalHarpJr
      @DalHarpJr 4 года назад +2

      @TheRobSJ... Nope! The Gold Card you get with the Platinum Card is for authorized users you place on your Platinum account. It functions like the Platinum Card. It will not function like the stand alone Gold Card with 4x back at restaurants and grocery stores. Hope that answers your question.

    • @TheRobSJ
      @TheRobSJ 4 года назад

      DalHarpJr Thanks. Well, so much for getting two for the price of one. I hardly travel, so it’d be tough for me to just break even on the AF of the Platinum with the other credits it comes with. The $550 would have been totally worth it if the additional Gold also came with the Gold benefits.

    Hey Brian, quick question!
    Can the points earned via AMEX Gold be transferred to AMEX Platinum (say the CB version)? How does that thing work ? In India, AMEX Platinum AF is near to $1000. So no-go for me, but curious.

    • @Eugenewhatt
      @Eugenewhatt 4 года назад

      Mr. Roy yes the points from Amex gold is in the same pool of pointed earned in platinum and the blue card. That’s why it’s called the “trifecta” as all 3 cards point earned will be in the same pool of points.

    • @Eugenewhatt
      @Eugenewhatt 4 года назад

      The Schwab plat card Brian mentioned can help you cash out 1.25 cents per point so all the points you get from the trifecta can cash out via Schwab. All you need is to put $1000 to open a Schwab investment account and then apply a plat card again. But then in the end you will have 2 plat cards. I kept the Schwab plat and cancelled the regular plat card last year.
