      Struggled to find / couldn’t find a block in time for this weekends (now postponed) event. Alloy block will do fine for my current power level

    Ok so I seem to do a lot of vmws and turbos there's a place in Germany called shaper automotive and they do the 535i or the 120+kw big 6 that goes in alot of builds in smaller built cars why not have a go a mad build like a 535 that all ppl right off as too hard as you can get over 800 or 900hp are superchargers I thi k it's stage 4 and it goes to stage 5 or 6 in turbo so over 1000hp big screaming 6 with a good cam and a 24v head with bigger valves and titanium where needed and so on even rod the. Block I mean 1000hp at wheels in a bmw big 6 would cost what the parts car will cost approx about 10-14k but you have a totally bulletproof engine with cams and crank and pistons and fowled block and make sure you make the water gallery's deeper and you have the dream 6 cylinder super harged or turboed with all of it it's an actually kit as I don't know where you get all these blocks and stuff but I'm trying to basically get a 330 or 530 6cylinder sport engine and putting custom crank and head and all theT sort of mallarky basically fully built engine and put it in my 535is so I can rebuild the original engine plus it would put you in elite builder stays as most people think it's far to har to make poer past 170kw in a 535i cause that all ac shnitzer managed as did alpina when they had a go so all the build houses back in the day couldn't get past 170-200kw engine now with today's engine building tech and all the other goodies we have access too we have a plethora of hybrid builds from eBay cheap to4kits to full Cranston turrbos and part m5 part b25 part b35 and as long as you can get a duel cam head on top and put in a custom crank and forged Pistons and if going over 500 dowel the block around the piston walls for strength and whalla finally you put the built 535 or as I dubbed it 567 engine you have it going so you have a engine no one else has that's mega strong and is a unicorn for high power builds and if you can get a m5 engine then go hard ether the V8 or 6 3.6-3.8L then you will get some people looking at the page as no one does anything to them except cheapo stock 9-12psi turbos and pretty manky I know at least 10 people in WA who would be interested to see some one take it on and go hard with the unicorn of power ups on a 535 6cylinder engine in a 3 series 5 series 7series even an 8Series

      Cutring in my current motor. They're the best!

  • @AdilAaronAkhtar
    @AdilAaronAkhtar 3 года назад +1

    65 ftlbs is way too low on those ARP head studs, that will almost definitely leak
    They stripped out at 75 because the threads were likely already weakened from a previous head gasket failure or due to overheating.
    It's actually fairly common for people to push to 85 ftlbs on the head studs as they've been known to leak at 75, and this is supported and advised by CES, as that is the original toque spec that ARP advertised.
    Another tip is that you can tilt the engine on it's side when it's on the engine stand, to fit the cam trays and lifters without any risk of the lifters falling out

    • @AdilAaronAkhtar
      @AdilAaronAkhtar 3 года назад +1

      Also if that head had everything done to it, you should have got it skimmed along with decking or at least hand decking the block to get a somewhat decent seal on the headgasket.
      Poor prep of the surfaces will lead to premature failure

    • @itsmikelake
      @itsmikelake  3 года назад +1

      I have a friend who torqued his down to 65ft lb with 0 issues. I think it comes down to how much boost you’re running or planning to run. I’m only running 10psi at this stage. As for the head, I completely cleaned the surface before fitting it. Thanks for the great advice!

      And why not put time-serts in the whole block anyway? The alloy block strips so easily. Time-serts and studs should be really solid. Or maybe even the S54 thread size, but that's taking more material out of the block.

    Dont know if i just missed it, but was the head and block decked? is that why it was apart?

    • @itsmikelake
      @itsmikelake  3 года назад

      Yep sure was! I took it apart as I wanted to put a brand new gasket and arp studs in it & inspect the engine with my own eyes to make sure I was happy with it. I don’t trust anything anymore haha.

    • @gunchars6604
      @gunchars6604 3 года назад

      But ARP dont produce studs for m52 alloy block!
      Did you use from Nissan VQ engine mains studs?

      It has been used, heat cycled etc. It will not be flat. Get it resurfaced or end up have the same issues again.
      Not hating btw
