"I only trained her on a whim," is Serie's, "We only traveled together for a mere ten years."!!! 😭

Yeah, Serie just refuse to admit that that one meaningful relationship, as short as it was for her, Changed her. Frieren on the other hand is in a process of discovering and accepting that those short relationships changed her and is willing to learn from those experiences.

yet of all the Apprentice she had Flamme is the most memorable one.

This episode gave Serie so much characterization. That whole scene as they're walking through the woods and she's making fun of Flamme's ideas to Frieren but at the same time smiling fondly remembering baby Flamme holding her hand as they walk together down the same path was a beautiful way to show how Serie might have raised Flamme and taken her as her apprentice on a whim as she (repeatedly) says, but that doesn't mean that they did not love each other. Tiny Flamme smiling and looking up at Serie as she walks at her side holding her hand shows she was nowhere near the unkind and uncaring master she claims she was. Hell, she basically asked Frieren to stay so that she could gush about Flamme's childhood dreams, her favorite spell, and her many accomplishments as a grown up with someone who loved Flamme as much as she did.

The way Frieren explained it, it's less about talent and more about her having baggage of a thousand years of magic spells that interfere with her casting Zoltrak faster. Like when a boomer was used to faxing things for 40 years at his job and now is suddenly forced to mail on a computer and can't deal with it as fast as a Millennial who had a computer since he or she can think.
Like Zoltrak is 100% part of Fern's life but only 0.1% part of Frieren's life so she just can't deal with it as much because there are other things she is used to.

another analogy would be like zoltraak is fern's first language, but to frieren it may as well be her tenth

"Weak times create weak people. Hard times create strong people". I think THIS is both why Serie didn't want herself to defeat the demon king AND why she does this first-class mage exam. The demon king being alive, it WILL create an era in which strong people are gonna have to step up. Flamme allowing everyone to learn magic would make this idea non existent anymore, since almost every person would be able to learn magic.
I understand due to Serie's behavior and rudeness, some people might not like her, but that doesn't mean she is not important. Deep inside, she cares 🤣 she's a big tsundere
I think Serie's true self might be: she, being way older than Frieren herself, was around even before humanity started civilization. She probably must've had so many lost (Flamme included) that her harsh words and behavior is just her demonstrating (or trying to demonstrate) that she remains unfazed to these situations....but she's not. We all know she liked Flamme.
Serie and Frieren simply think different. In the end they're all on the same side of the story (against the demons)
In the end, she DID end up doing what Flamme asked her to (this whole first-class mage exam and her reward for those who pass it). Ngl if she wanted, i think she could have prevented humanity of learning magic, but she did love Flamme, and we all know how tsundere are LOL

this show cheers me up every week 🥲 the way Frieren finds joy in the little things after all these years, the way she can remember the good times and smile despite the time that's passed. if i can smile like her at the end of the line, i'll consider it a life well lived. i wish good health and many more good times for you chewbacca ^_^

It is actually pretty cool story telling regarding Fern's (and humans) Soul Track in general. Frieren said that Fern's Soul Track can kill her due to humans (in that era) were born with Soul Track that already existed, the basic offense magic (and yes, Fern is also talented in that regards). While for elves, it is relatively new for them. So elves can't just attack or defense against it by pure instinct, like humans would do.
I guess that is what we call a good story telling~

Ay remember that fire tornado thing the old man cast several episodes back..
After looking what Frieren just cast now, NOW that's a fire spell.

Nope, they are different spells (different names too), but Frieren's spell is more destructive since it literally disintegrates a large rock.

Hello, I like Serie, 'tsun-dere' the great mage. despite her bitter words she missed Flamme.
She also likes Frieren as at her first impression, despite her present was denied.
Maybe Serie holds a grudge to Frieren but still does not dislike her.

Serie said how short and how small the amount she put in Flamme
But when she thinks of her as a child grabbing her hand
    She's smiling
She called her stupid and what she was doing was stupid
She's calling Frieren out just so she wouldn't be alone processing the information that she lost Flamme
She's just a parent who couldn't understand that she lost her child and slowly trying to make sense of it

And she told Frieren elves can take a century or two, and even a millennium, to make a decision. And here she is one thousand years later honoring Flamme's request and running the Continental Mages Association whose members are basically all humans despite the fact that she tore up her will and refused to do it when Frieren came knocking after Flamme's death. She just needed time to process Flamme's death and come to terms with their opposing view points regarding some details, and come up with a compromise that would allow her to honor her beloved apprentice's final request without compromising her own values. And she did just that.

I'm not always well or good
This anime taught me how to be a better person, especially Himmel
I would be so upset with the person who has known me for 10 years and doesn't know what food I like
Himmel didn't blame Frieren for it, he took the responsibility to change her mind by working harder so she could know him better
He accepts Frieren and her flaws and tries to work around it
I find that to be super inspiring
I'm not going to say this show changed my life but I think I did a little bit and I will remember this for a long time
A hero is a person who will inspire people
And Himmel is the hero that I think will inspire people
It's not just Himmel that shows me how to view the world in a positive light
The show is special not because it's a passion project or how well it's animated
It has messages that want to be expressed, meaningful teaching.

A hero is a person who has lead people to millions of deaths throughout history. Because people idolize them and put them on a pedestal, romanticizing everything they've done and stood for. Everyone in a war/battle wants to become the hero who killed as many people as possible

Me too bro, but if your character is himmel and My fav character is Eisen. Eisen told me it's okay to be afraid and not give up easily. And in this episode we learn that humans don't have as much time as elves, so don't waste your little time.
Im very lucky that Im live at this anime era (Frieren). This will be anime of the year for sure
