What a fantastic player. This keyboard sounds awesome. You guys gotta help me. What is he playing around 13:18? It's beautiful! Is that just improv? Thanks, Mitch

Hi Brian, No it doesn't get deleted. Yamaha specifically designed it so that traveling musicians/producers could just bring their flash boards and a thumb drive with the program data without having to drag their MOTIF XF with them. Thanks for watching!
hey ive had a question that nobody seems to want to answer and its getting annoying, how much voices can i store on a 1g flash board. and also what is the difference between waveform, waverom, samples, libraries, elements etc. its all so confusing!
It all depends on the size of the voices. Some voices use the base sounds on the keyboard itself and merely tweak parameters, these are of course very small because they only have settings stored, the actual voice data is used on the keyboard. Other voices can be very large, such that you might only be able to fit one voice in a 1 gb expansion. I believe there is a Steinway piano font for a few hundred dollars that is just that. Of course, now with the Kronos, its not unheard of to have significantly larger size soundfonts, but since the Motif only supports 4 gb of on board storage (you have to buy off brand expansions to get 4 gb because Yamaha only produced 1 gb boards, other companies have produced 2 gb boards).
Upgraded the firmware from my XF6 to the newest one. Now i've lost all my user sounds like the S6 piano and all the performance patches are gone.. Does anyone know how I can get those sounds back?
some sounds if you close your eyes, you can't imagine it's a keyboard... they did a really nice job on this synth!
Amazing sounds. I'm especially impressed with all the guitar and bass sounds. Great job Mr. Fisher!! Say hi to Charlie Davis from David P. in Iowa!
Who wouldn't love this?
It may be the best keyboard ever, along with the Tyros and the Kronos.
White Lion, CCR, Boston, Cinderella, list goes on and on. Roy Clark, Flea, etc...
Thank you. That's great
I like FarEast sound. Is this special for a XF8 also?
I see that Yamaha is including the new cd's of sounds.
Guitar, guitar and more guitars and guitar

Does the information on the flash drive get deleted if you take out the flash board and instal it in another machine. Thank you

Hi Paulao. The MOTIF XF Anniversary Pack was available back in 2012, but we ran out of them sometime in 2013. Thanks for watching!

Did you do a backup before you flashed the firmware?
Filthy McNasty No.. sadly I did not. Is there any way to get the voices back?
Not if they were custom User Voices.
Are you talking about your own sounds or those that came with the unit originally?
Filthy McNasty The sounds that came with the Motif like the S6 grand and all those great sounds. :(
fun
they need to make a xf rack does anybody know if they will
I wish he spent more time on actual piano, synth and other acoustic sounds rathsr than most of this video featured on guitars,by golly..
after a while it gets tiring that he only plays bits and not even a single melody phrase.
Sounds good but why not just buy a guitar instead of going to all the trouble of recreating the sound of a guitar with a keyboard?!
Grantburgh1 it's for keyboardists that want to play guitar on their keyboard
