I'm just about to turn 43 years old. I have to say that Eric Dickerson is still the best RB I have ever seen. Nearly 4000 yards his first 2 seasons. Simply the best IMO
@@jonassacharko2869 Yes and Dickerson was a better pure running back. He was 6”3 230 with breakaway speed. Sanders was great but had more runs for losses and Peyton was the best all around - blocking receiving out of backfield whatever was needed
SMU was very close to not getting the Pony Express backfield, period. Eric Dickerson wanted to go to Oklahoma, but his mom didn't like Barry Switzer. Craig James wanted to go to Alabama, but his GF, now wife, was attending SMU, and Bear Bryant tried to get her to transfer to Alabama, which she didn't. As Craig put it, "If she had transferred, I would've been 'Roll Tide', 100%"
I am a Oklahoma fan it makes me sick to think he actually wanted to come to Oklahoma but because of his grandmother he went to SMU damn damn damn he would have been awesome in the Barry Switzer Wishbone.
to think if we would have got dickerson AND marcus dupree, it would nave been a embarrassment of riches. we would have owned the 80's. but i won either way, most of my family are sooner fans and my grand aunt worked at the theater dept at SMU. so boomer sooner my friend and pony up to all.my smu friends.
OU USC Tex a&m Were known for their football program for years. SMU for those few years suddenly were competition after being off the radar for years would draw suspicion but an ex player sang like a canary
