I've worked with AI for a number of years, though what I do is control systems and not robo investors. I think allot of people are putting too much faith in their power. Ultimately AI is just a complex algorithm, and algorithms can be gamed. For example some kind of garbage asset could be designed in such a way to optimize what ever buy signals it relies on forcing the algorithm to buy the asset. Billions lost in 401k accounts all over the world because of a stupid mistake made by the algorithm is just as scary to me.

Total conflict of interests of the global scale, definitely outright criminal dealings requiring straightforward anti-monopoly laws to be applied. Basic economics taught at a high school in the suburbs of Miami Florida during 1970s: The United States, antitrust law (mostly federal laws) regulate the conduct and organization of business corporations. That was generally intended to promote competition and prevent monopolies.
It's given me pause to ponder when large businesses have been buying up small businesses. I've noticed it since the 90s.
Also, I worked at Westinghouse in the 90s when the German company, Siemens, bought them. It took several years to complete that acquisition.
At the time I figured our government would protect us. Surely all that time was required to carefully consider how that would impact the USA.
Now that I see the vulnerable state of affairs, I wonder who was being bought off to make such a acquisition!

Hey Roger - super thought-provoking video! Got a question - at the end of your video, you imply that Blackrock will OWN everything. But don't they just manage (and control) the assets, and not actually own them? Or is there some detail that I am missing here? Perhaps there is not much difference in controlling an asset and actually owning it? Disclaimer: I know very little about financial markets and how they operate at this level. Would love to hear your thoughts on this!
Aladdin is what controls what gets bought and sold. Blackrock (which owns Aladdin) physically owns the assets that it then buys through its funds and ETFs. These assets (and Blackrock itself) are in turn owned by the investors of both. So for example, Vanguard is Blackrock's biggest competitor. But it's also Blackrock's biggest shareholder... Hope that explains it :-D

'Controlling' as used in this video, refers to (I believe) what is purchased with the investors' money (the investors meaning the investors in BR funds). BR allocates the money (capital) from its various funds into various assets (the money invested in those BR funds - by investors - is invested into assets). It's like me saying to you and nine other people "Hey, each of you give me $10 and I will invest that $100 on behalf of you ten people, and I'll take a fee for doing that, for investing your money, for you". That's what BR does. It invests other people's money (on their behalves) and takes a fee for that service. BR has a market cap (which means valuation) of $133 billion, while it has 21 trillion in assets under management i.e. it has 21 trillion of other people's money invested in its funds and its funds have invested that 21 trillion into 'stuff' / assets (instead of the investors having to do it themselves). If BR owned everything (in the traditional sense of the word - own), BR's valuation would be a minimum of $21 trillion. It's more accurate, I believe, to say that BR investors own 21 trillion worth of assets (at minimum, as only some of their money would be invested in BR) but because BR decides where that $21 trillion is invested, at any given time, BR has an incredible amount of power (monetary power). For example, BR could buy all the world's supply of gold (about $7 trillion in total.) if the price of gold remained constant and if all of the gold were for sale (it wouldn't remain constant as the price would go up as BR bought up all the supply and not everyone would sell) but it gives you a sense of how much $21 trillion is. $21 trillion is the about the same as the GDP of the United States - which is different from the taxes collected (the money the government collects, which is about $3.7 trillion). The U.S government spent about 6.82 trillion in 2021, so far, while BR has $21 trillion to 'spend' on 'things' (if it sells what it has and reinvests the money). It has about 3.5X the spending power than the U.S government has in one year.

A lot of people had no idea about blackrock or vanguard until recently. Myself included. But last few months so many things came out. Stuff that blew my mind. ive always wondered how "By 2030 you'll own nothing.." and how they would do it. ive since decided mortgage debt is the key with rising house prices and then high inflation and interest rates. my plan is to own freehold land but what's the next step to confiscate that and how will they do it?
Tax us into handing it over. My land tax has increased exponentially over the years and it is does not allow for bracket creep nor does it tax land on a single holdings basis. They lump it all together and the punishment is exponential.
I agree with Micheal, they will raise your tax & find new things to tax you for, super tax & add in intrest. Thats how they used to get rid of farmers to convert out lying farms into cities. In South Africa they would raise your rates & taxes to exorbitant amounts, when you start struggling & eventually you have to sell.
@@michaelparis5229 unless you go a route like changing status to a national private citizen, secure party process, or something like that to opt out of the tax racket. pretty risky business going that route with zero room for error. probably makes alot more sense just to play within the system for most people, utilizing different strategies to minimize taxes legally.

Sorry to be a bit slow but there were some things from this I'm trying to understand:
(1) It says that Aladdin owns 50% of all ETFs (or something similar). Does that mean that Aladdin owns 50% of the share capital of all ETFs? How does it do that? Is a robot even a legal entity which is entitled to hold assets? Or does it mean that investors, relying on Aladdin's advice, own 50% of the share capital of all ETFs? Or are you actually trying to say that Aladdin controls the ETF's decisions as to when to buy and sell assets (although that should be a largely mechanical process within certain parameters given that it is only trackiing the market)?
(2) Maybe I missed this, but is Blackrock receiving government money in order to buy assets (chosen by Aladdin presumably) and because it has access to so much funding it is forcing other buyers, including us, out of the market? So the beneficiaries are the people who own Blackrock?

As an ex IT professional what are they going to do when Aladdin malfunction and yes it’s software someone will be for programming in an update what are they going to do when Aladdin starts making bogus deals and crashes it’ll happen I’ve seen the best servers crash yes there’s back up and all that but when you rely on a super computer miscalculate can make A big screwup with the taxpayers dollars
It's already happened, albeit on a smaller scale. Look up the Flash Crash from May 2010.

@@Jaypipin An area that is very important that the Western World is losing is the Southeast Asia, more especifically Thailand, Vietnam and the Philliphines, those countries are important ports and markets in the Southern China sea, an region that has an incredible flux of products and cash, now claimed by China, along with it's neighboring countries and economies. 35% of the worlds products come through that place, and that's just an example. The markets in Africa, Latin America and Oceania have the very real possibility of being claimed by China, especially Africa.
Yes, yes they are, the chinese government makes extensive use of AI for a lot of things, from monitoring civil activities to markets, just like the West, the difference is that they use their own AI, Western forces use Aladdin or derivates.
If everything is lost and Western companies start losing to China, then yes, I'd believe there would be WW3.
