Actually i have 2 gpz 900r . Thats my dreambike since i am 16 years old . Now i am 47 . Every bone hurts ... but when i ride it i have no pain .... awsome 😀
This video only just scratches the surface of legendary bikes from the era. It was a time of turbos, when 2 strokes reached their peek, race replicas, when superbike racing was big and there where lots of homoligation specials, frame design came of age, it was an exciting period.
I was there saw the birth of the GSX-R,fzr,rc30,cb1100r, katana, saw the first turbo bikes, saw the first 200mph street bikes,, no rider aids, worked in bike shops from 85 to 96, you could buy a new 1000cc for 10kau motorcycle rallys attracted hundreds of bikes,,great days-the best time of my life
You said it buds. We lived through the decade that saw the birth of the true sport bike, all starting with the Ninja 900. Today, bikes all from the same cookie cutter and dumbed down with riders aids that takes away from the learning experience. Great days indeed the 80's.
Had a 750 Turbo E1, then eventually a GPz 900R-A4, bought as a salvage, repaired it up and had Dream Machine paint it in the same lines but green over white. Looked amazing and went like it too.
My brothers friend was one of the first to get the Honda 500 interceptors when they came out , i rode everything I could get my hands on from gsxr's , ninjas , RZ 350 , FJ600, Fast Freddie Spencer and King Kenny Robert's, Eddie Lawson, Randy Mamola , my idols 👍👍👍
Great era for bikes, some gems here too… I have a few bikes from this era in the garage.. A 1998 GSXR750 SRAD, Kawasaki ZX12R A2, 1999 Honda Fireblade, 1999 Suzuki TL-R, 1991 Honda CBR1000F, and last but not least (my favourite) a 1990 Kawasaki ZXR750 H2 😊
@@No-timeforimbeciles I'm rock'n a 1988 GSXR750J probably had it for 20 yrs now. Rode it 850 km from Adelaide to Philip Island back in a day the year Kenny Roberts Jr won the 500's championship. Its a quick blast round the hills bike for me now at 59 yrs of age .
@@No-timeforimbeciles No not the slab side, I rode a mates slab side back in the day after jumping off my VFR750 and found the slabby very hard to get on with. Mainly the stiff throttle combined with the hyper active free revving engine. It required a lot of concentration to ride compared to my VFR which had a neutral feel in corners. It was probably that four into one engine note of the slabby that throw me combined with an on /off feel at the throttle which did not help my impression of its handling in the corners. It surprised me when I test rode my current next model Slingshot years later that I got on with it so well. The slabby is a milestone bike that with more time I might have grown to understand, but the Slingshot still has that race focus feel but is much better on the road I think and probably leads itself to a much better selection of modern radial tyres.
1984 VF1000F Interceptor Smoked Every GPZ900R Ninja It Came Across Very Badly! From a Dig..Roll-On...High Speed! The GPZ900R Ninja Owners Were ALL Shocked At How Badly They Were Beaten! They Intentionally Overlooked This Beast Of Its Time!
Cool video. Would be cool to see the 1983 VF750 Interceptor, 1987 CBR600, 1989 FZR1000, RG500 Gamma and RD500. Hopefully we see part 2 with more classic sports bikes.
the vfr 500 handled like a dream coupled with the power band, was a pleasure to ride WFO...the vfr 750 had a soft chassis; same softy chassis like for the gpz900 but extremely usable engine and extreme speed ( Kawasaki ) , although the gpz750 turbo felt better planted and was way quicker; my grain of sand...none like the gsxr 1123 on a 750 chassis.
I had a vfr750 and a gpz900r .I got them as it was all I could afford , they worth a fortune now lol . Think the gpz was my favorite ; nearly bought a duke paso as well .
Everyone forgets the Gpz1000rx and the Zx10 Tomcat 😪 Gpz900 is a powerhouse though. Great list. One day I will find my beloved bikes in a list somewhere. Everyone always favours the Zx11 over the Zx10 though. Gpz1000 was made from 86-87 and the Tomcat 88-89. Gpz is europe and Tomcat is the states. Believe both are capable of 170mph/273km with gearing and unrestricted carbs.
@@tombair1401 I like the looks of the gpz as well. I like the Tomcat though because it's a little bit more agressive. Bikes are great, I want one of those 750 turbos.

I had a red and silver 1986 GPZ900 A2 ( with matching red leathers ). I've still got the sales invoice - but sadly not the bike. It was wonderful.
Gpz900r is still a thing of beauty. I still have my 1984 gpz900r and its mint and going like a watch. I really love her.
Well, I had an 85! Ha.
My dad had a GPZ900 in his early years and he rode it everywhere, I think he still misses it a lot
