Love it....... absolutely love it. It's current, upbeat , classy and it's British. I'm proud as punch. Great catchy song and a wee dance routine. Surely nobody can complain but of course it's Eurovision so don't go popping the champagne quite yet. You have Shane's thumbs up and that is terrific and means a lot so good luck girls. This could be the start of something big for you whatever the outcome on the night in France.
Yes! I thought that as well! The BBC seemed to do their best to continue supporting Freya after the show...I hope they do the same with this girl band. It would be great to see them continue after JESC!
Cheers for the reaction Shane, so glad to see you so pumped for our british entry again this year!! Hopefully we will have a good result this year, top 5 fingers crossed!! 😊
Had a grin on my face before I pressed play 😂 Knew this would feed your Little Mix needs! I like it too - feels just like the sort of thing you’d have at the y7 disco. BBC have done very well again! I’ve seen Yasmin (I think) on possibly The Voice. It’s on RUclips ❤
Knew you’d absolutely love this, was so excited to see this reaction!! Just soooo impressed with this, and love that this is another British entry we can be proud of. We know these girls can sing well live, they were all on The Voice Kids earlier this year as individuals and are all fab. This will stand out a lot from the other entries this year, is super catchy, and is just such a slick package. And agree about the video - to me, this is just like Freya, in that they’ve produced a video that is more or less stage ready, I feel like we’ll be seeing a lot of that in Nice, which is only a good thing. Are we becoming a Junior Eurovision powerhouse?! (Also I strongly believe that if Freya had been well, the UK would have won last year - she’s an absolutely insane vocalist, so it was just bad timing)
Great reaction, buddy. I really like the song. Its definitely british sounding which us in Ireland are very used of. Not as adult-sounding as last year which is a good thing (but i did love Freyas entry too). Sam Ryder (I was with you on SpaceMan) has done a lot for UK ESC/JESC. Staging is sorted too.
This upbeat song is sure to stand out among this year's songs. And if anything, the UK sure knows how to make girl group songs. I loved your reaction when you heard the first part of the song 😊
I'm loving this song! It kinda reminds me of Armenia's song DANCE! from last year with the dance breaks and the high whistle(?) sound. Hoping UK will bring something this great to ESC next year too, right now they are killing it in JESC ! 🤍
Yea had the exact same thought 😅 also I remember lose my head had a qami qami ish beat to it and the long note but these are just minor similarities i love all those entries so they're doing something right
Couldn’t wait to watch your reaction. Such a great song! Love it 💜 great produced video as well… I now need a houndstooth jacket. Do get animated, Shane!
Very impressive to follow up last year’s Lose My Head with another high quality effort that for sure will do well in Nice👏 Only criticism i have is i’m not sure i’m a big fan of that drop but maybe it helps with making it more kid friendly vibes and in turn appeals to the masses more than i think
So mad that we’re here a year later from Freya coming out and the hype around the UK’s return. Although this isn’t as immediate for me, its definitely growing and definitely feels more child appropriate. Here’s hoping for another great result! 🤞
Ive been waiting for you to upload yr comments i said it was good 😉 Yasmin was on the voice kids. They will perform live on Children in need too so watch out for that,
The only birden of this song is not the existing chorus. It is almost perfect, but a drop instead of a chorus may impair the winning chances of the UK. But I really love this song so far ❤
My thoughts on the UK's entry: Shane, regarding two points you've made, even if it's your home country you absolutely can get hyped, dont worry about the response, its a really good song. Secondly, especially in the chorus and the bridge, I think this really does have a Little Mix sound to it, not just because its a girl band but the harmonies and the style of song reminds me almost of the type of music in lm5 or confetti. I think this is a really good effort, personally its not as instantaneous as last year because last year was quite intense and in your face (loved it btw, my joint 1st of last year) this seems to be focused more on having a fun yet current song thats suitable for a younger generation (like you mentioned, last year felt more mature). The Uk have shown once again they mean business in jesc and its a very respectable effort, reflective of music in the UK charts. One of my questions about this entry is, and idk if its because its the studio version, there seems to be a few lengthy sections where theres no singing and I feel like I might've expected some singing in those parts. I'm guessing they'll do choreo like in the mv which looks great but my first thoughts aside from the positives was, oh, theres a good few sections where theres no singing. Saying that I still really like it, I hope it does well.
You raise such an interesting point about the instrumental. I have been known to be critical in the past of replacing lyrics in a chorus with an instrumental. I have made this point a few times...but sometimes... SOMETIMES...I eat my own words...Natalia Gordienko 'Sugar' for Moldova is a perfect example...as the chorus is pretty much a dance break BUT I love it! And I love this! As you said they will zone in on that choreo! There's enough vocal singing in the bridges and the final bridge so hopefully won't be penalised!!!
in the JESC world, only the Netherlands are used to producing teenage girl groups over the years (Kisses in 2016, Unity in 2020 and many more who did not win the NF of Junior Songfestival), and the UK seems to want to follow the similar recipe. but, even though the concept is similar, the genre is very different. this looks more like a combination of Little Mix and OG3NE (Dutch representative at the adult Eurovision in 2017). the attitude is very Little Mix, while some parts where they sing together rather remind me of OG3NE.
I am not totally sure on this yet, I’ll hold judgement until we see an actual live performance. It’s a decent song, but as we’ve seen with others, a good song doesn’t always mean a good live performance or result. If they can do the vocals without backup then perhaps get them dancers rather than have them do it all. It will stand out as being different but it will depend how it resonates with others. I do think it’s more appropriate than Freya’s song last year, which I think they spun as being about friends having a disagreement maybe? But, yeah. I’ve seen mixed responses to this in terms of it fitting in peoples tops - averaging out around mid table I think.
Yeah I checked a couple of top14 videos and your right is averaging middle...which surprises me actually! I thought people would love it. There seemed to be more love for Freya last year!
Howdy Shane 🤠 Now as you know I am no big fan of Junior Eurovision. In fact, I've not even listened to any of the other songs. But like last year I made an exception for the UK song, and I do in fact really like it. Perhaps not as much as Freya's song last year, but it is still pretty strong in my eyes. You made an interesting point about people commenting on the lyrics of last years song being too grown up for Junion Eurovision. I have seen some people comment that this song actually feels too 'adult' for Junior Eurovision. But more in the general vibe of the song rather than perhaps the lyrics is what I took from that. Anyways my overall take is that if there is more stuff like this in Junior Eurovision I could be tempted to give it a try again, as opposed to lots of songs about how great it is to be best friends and have tea parties and ponies and whatnot 🤣 Anyway I digress, and as you mentioned here, when I heard the song I definitely knew straight away that you would love it. You are too easy to predict Shane 😜
@@ShanesEurovisionReview The dark side? 🤣 I will give it a think. Maybe if I get time I will listen to all the songs and maybe do just one big reaction/ranking video. 😁
Oh Shane, I never liked Space man but I think it took us all by surprise his amazing performance at the final, this song is so good and I know what you feelings are
This is why i listen to your opinions Shane. You are spot on with this review. Freya last year was good but imo not lyrically suitable to JESC. This however, totally is and i applaud the UK for choosing a "young adult friendly" song. Great production and confidence in abundance. This has a "British" sound and i applaud the BBC for their choice. I now have a Top 3. In no particular order......The Netherlands, The UK and Germany and an honourable mention for Portugal. Bring on Ireland! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🇮🇪🇮🇪
As soon as I heard this I thought of you !! Good song , the drop is a bit lacking for me but everyone else seems to love it . Think it will do as good as Freya if not better
I really like this song however personally I preferred Freya's loose my head last year and think she could/should of won if she was well. I enjoyed the dance break and that it is a catchy tune however I hope the UK perform after Spain as I think the Spain song is really good and will take votes away from the UK.
For me, who did not get any adult feel from Freya's last year, if thats how people feel, perhaps they should add a 'teen eaurovision', it would feel unauthentic hearing 13+ year olds singing about kiddie stuff
Hahahahaha I think we are trying!!!! I still stand by Mae Muller was a great song and I was super proud of it...just ummmmm performance was ummmmm lacking 😆😂
So happy that you are proud of your country. I'm not obsseded with this song as opossed to "Lose my head". Still good. In a sea of ballad girls will stand out. Good luck
Hi Shane, great review again and I am happy for you that you can be so proud of your country's entree 🥰. But, though I like the originality, it is well done and it looks cool...I am SO sorry...I don't like it very much 😥. On the contrary of you, I am not a big fan of girlgroups, nor of the kind of music they make, so no Spice girls, Little mix, Sugarbabes etc for me, I am sorry 😇, please don't hate me now 🙏😂. Nevertheless, it looks great and I honestly think you are right and that youngsters and children might like it. It's orginal, it's well done, as you said it looks expensive, it sounds great, just not my cup of tea 🙃 However, I wish your country all the best in the competition 🥰🤗
Thanks for the good wishes ❤️💜❤️ Hahaha 🤣 you don't have to like every song...what a boring world would that be 😂 Despite that you picked some lovely things to say so thank you 😁😊
I can see this song being one of the favorites but does nothing much for me. Too familiar, done, heard, seen too many times. Sorry, nothing special. Also seems like chorus is missing.
No me gusta nada. Toda la canción esperando a que pase algo...y no pasa nada. Además llevan el autotune por las nubes. Quedará bien porque es UK pero sin más. Le doy un 6/10.
I didn't pick up on the autotune but maybe it's there! Apparently they came from the voice kids UK so hopefully that means they can sing live...and sing live well!!!! 😁
So what do you think of STAND UNIQU3 and the United Kingdom's song for JESC 2023? Let me know in the comments 👇

Didn't know they were all on the voice. That's good to know...and a relief to hear!!! 😁
Love it. Hope it goes up with the TOP 5. The girls are smart, sweet and seem to have a great personality. A good combination. Terrific job UK.

Congrats to your country! I really like it, it's fun, upbeat, memorable, a good result for the Uk I guess this year 😉

Get In There UK!
Loving this - it’s a proper bop! This is the sort of the thing we (UK) should have in Adult Eurovision! Winning vibes
I thought EXACTLY this!!! 😊❤️
