Thank you guys for your great reaction. Do check out on their other songs which are all great to listen to
For those who are new with wagakki band i like to say that they play almost every music style and mix them together. I strongly recommended listening lot of they songs, most people will find something what they like. For me, i like them all, no matter style. They always sound amazing and nowadays i hardly ever listening any other band. Wagakki band hit me so heavily, 50 years listening music and finally i find wagakki band what is totally special. Also, live versions sound better than they records or music videos. Its lot abt mixing i guess. So i listening mostly live versions.
Beni Beni Beni!
❤Beni🤘
"Homura" (flame) is an instrumental song Machiya (the guitarist) had with him from previous solo projects, he uses "Noh mask" from Noh theater on those songs. "Akatsuki no ito" (thread of down) is also written by Machiya. The song has become very important for the Wagakki band, since the audience uses it as an encore chant. Machiya is responsible for at least 50% of the songs and is responsible for the arrangement and has the final say, even though it is Yuko Suzuhana who is the founder of the band.
Wa = Japanese, Gakki = Musical instrument
Beni plays a Shamisen. Tsugaru refers to the style of play and the area it comes from. I guess Beni is playing a "Futozao". A shamisen type which is slightly larger with a longer and thicker neck. It is the type used for Tsugaru and Gidayu style
Can recommend "Hakushu Kassai)" from Daishinnenkai 2018
Thank you for the information and the recommendation!
Akatsuki no Ito... since Ito is a hot-spring town in Japan, i wonder if a better translation might be (literal) Ito of Dawn, or (grammatically) Ito at Dawn.
@@bwcbiz Do not think so
Ito also actually means yarn
Well you are a huge fan ! And also you know a lot about the band and insturments ! Tell us more as often as possible ! Thanks
Dear Kevin and Tim!
Greetings again!
Really enjoy your reactions!
Wagakki Band (Japanese Instruments Band in Japanese) Have already been on the music stage for quite some time (2012~).
They have a very wide repertoire from Japanese traditional to Rock and even jazz (Check "Sinchronicity!)!
Do get me wrong, but I prefer to add some information:
-The traditional Japanese drums (not bongo, although they are very similar) are called "taiko/太鼓" and are played in all Japanese festivals. Actually Japanese lore tells that thunder is produced by "oni"/ogres beating giant taiko in the clouds!
-The bass guitarist (who goes by the sole name of Asa), for all his somewhat effeminate looks has a deep male voice!
-The lead guitarist (who goes by the sole name of Machiya) actually lectures at university, His mask is neither a Kabuki mask (there are actually no traditional Kabuki masks!), nor a Noh Theater mask . It is just a a fun mask. He wears other masks including that of a Japanese devil at live concerts. It took him quite a while to publicly reveal his face!
-The singer, Yuko Suzuhana is the original founder of the band with shakuhachi (traditional Japanese bamboo flute/recorder) player Daisuke Kaminaga and koto (Japanese Traditional flat harp) Kiyoshi Ibukuro. Yuko, who can play the piano, was already a veteran (she is already 40 of age) when started her new band, She is a noted shigin/詩吟 singer (traditional Japanese "opera").
-The drummer (who goes under the single name of Wasabi, true!) joined them soon after Machiya and Kurona, the Japanese drum/taiko player.
The bassist, Asa, joined them soon after and finally the shamisen (Japanese three-stringed "banjo". More precisely tsugaru shamisen, as there are many variants of that parcicular instrument) player called Beni Ninagawa approached them in a bar in Shibuya, Tokyo, during one of their gigs. The shamisen player, usually referred to as "Beni", is arguably the best lady shamisen player in Japan and is probably the best addition to an already incredibly talented band.
Enjoy!
Best regards,
Robert-Gilles
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@GLIMPSEINTOTHEETHER Cheers, mate!
Don’t forget the koto player.
This song is about a future where we can respect each other, be at peace and laugh with each other! I hope you get this song! It is a song with that feeling. I think there are many people who agree Japan this interpretation.
Absolutely fantastic reaction. I'm hooked and glad to subscribe!!!
Glad you enjoyed it! Welcome!
As far as the drummers. One use's a regular drum kit and the other use's a more traditional Japanese drums set
Also, Beni is awesome!
...and then, Beni steps up with her tsugaru shamisen and the world changes.
This is my favorite part of each time I watch a reaction of these songs, I get chills every time
that was when the boss music started.
Indeed ! I liked that part immediately, and now I listen to every video of the band 8 can find
The Wagakki Band is made up of eight members and is a top-notch specialist in musical instruments played by all members.
