I have remodeled many kitchens. I sell cabinets and also work with the countertop suppliers. I assemble and install the cabinets. All great quality with premium hardware. Most kitchens remodel I do range from 15k to 20k Pricing varies mostly based on the counter selection. This also includes sink and faucet materials and install. Backsplash depending on size of kitchen another 600 to 800. Homeowner provides faucet and tile. I see alot of way overpriced cabinet companies out there charging crazy numbers. I do agree with the statement made in this video that you'll see the difference in quality vs DIY so if you don't have the skill set or time then hire a pro and save yourself some big headaches😊
@stellohomes I'll give you an example of one kitchen I redid had to knock a couple of walls down, too. Repair drywall, etc. Retail cost of cabinets plus install and wall demo etc = $10500 that's for a U shape kitchen with no uppers on middle section so similar to alley kitchen but with base cabinets in middle of U shape. Carrara Quartz 3cm $4750 with sink install etc. Faucet hookup and backsplash $1200. Tiles and faucet provided by homeowner. Based out of Port St Lucie, FL. So the entire project about 16k
Yeah 40k for a 100-200 sqf kitchen isn’t happening here in NYC. There’s almost nobody out there willing to pay that to remodel a small kitchen. You’ll get around 25-30 for a reconfiguration and about 20 if they’re going with an appliance package separately. There are exceptions but 40k is above average here.
So I just remodeled my up stairs, kitchen, living, dining, laundry room and half bath, walls came down everything was reconfigured, all new furniture, all new wood flooring throughout, I spent 250k and I didn’t really have any value engineering (except my cabinets I originally got the 70k bid for my cabinets and was like nope can’t do that) 😂, but we hired everything out as we are contractors. It is pretty sweet! It was worth it!
My house is so small that for me to gut and renovate with high end everything, it's looking like $20K max. I was bummed that I couldn't afford a bigger house in the area where I moved, but now that I know it'll cost way less to have my home made into my dream house, I feel a lot better. I don't know how I would cope if I was looking at $250K.
This video makes me beyond happy about my upcoming kitchen remodel. When I first contacted my contractor, I told him that all I wanted to do was switch the built in oven/microwave with the refrigerator and paint the cabinets. Then in subsequent years tackle more kitchen improvements, knowing how expensive kitchen remodels can be. He asked me for my vision of my dream kitchen. I told him it included a new kitchen island with more cabinets and a larger cooktop. A new wall unit with upper and lower cabinets. New countertops and backsplash. He drew it all up, told me that I would be happy with the price even though I was skeptical. He sent me to his showroom to pick out the cabinets, countertop, and backsplash. I picked out a quartz countertop. A few days later, I got the price and I was shocked. $28,000. Let me also tell you that my house is very large (5000 sq ft) and so is my kitchen. Sounds like I'm getting a great deal with him! I live in PA.
Thanks for commenting. That seems pretty low though. Are you sure this includes all material? For a large kitchen a cabinet order even at $10,000 is low. What type of countertop? Are you doing any new flooring? How long is it going to take him? Does he have a crew? Honestly this price for a large kitchen seems too good to be true.
Yes, it includes all materials. My countertop is being upgraded from granite to quartz. No new flooring. I have hardwood floors throughout my entire first floor so eventually I will just have them refinished and re-stained. The project should take 4-6 weeks. It is a crew who are licensed and bonded. I've used this contractor before who finished my basement and did a great job (inspections and everything). Because I am a repeat customer, the contractor is giving me a great deal (He deducted over $8000 from the total bill).
Costs have definitely increased this year! These same kitchens, at least for us and with standard features were in the low-mid $30K range. We even did some in the high 20K range a couple years ago for smaller-ish kitchen that didn't floors, for example. Let us know if you have any specific questions! Here to help and be a resource!
These prices are waay inflated. He is out of touch. Long island NY. Brand new high end Kitchen Masters kitchen. 500sq. $67k. Includes installation, backsplash, material and molding.
We do over 20 kitchens a year, and have for the past 5 years. We aren't out of touch. A "high end" kitchen for $67K ? We've had customers spend more than that on their cabinet orders alone.
@@stellohomes again..read the comments. That is not normal anymore. As of 2023, material prices have dropped substantially.. labor is still high. Cabinets for 10x10 is now half the cost and these are for high end kitchen masters cabinets that are custom. Multiply that for a standard high end 30x10 kitchen with an island. Materials should not be above $40k. This includes crown molding. Just include a link to a photo or your orders. No way that price holds up in 2023. We both can agree definitely does not hold up in 2024. I say this with love ❤️
Contractor work through a project manager involves another person to get paid. Theses costs that he is stating allows him to keep his hands clean while making 20% (low-end) of profit on these figures. These are not valid numbers across the country. If you want to be hands-off with a remodel, expect to pay double to triple compared to hiring licensed independent contractors yourself.
This is general advice but we’ve seen these numbers to be consistent working with a contractor who has project managers and designers on staff without a ton of overhead.
For price of one kitchen in America, in my country You can make entrire bathroom from scratch, tiles to the seiling, kitchen with qualitly tiles, all over, not just between elements, kitchen from the best matherials, and furnish living and dinning room, all after prices jumped up to 30% for building matherials and furniture, that is how expencive America is, just the fact We produce ceramic tiles in our country, and most of building matherials, fact that Italy is close, makes all this stuff that costs 10 times more in America afordable here out of EU.
Think people need to reevaluate what "small" means. That first picture, you have a 7ft island, two pantries, and a double oven, with 42 in walking space. 40k is totally reasonable for that, but most people can barely fit an island in their place, let alone have space for two pantries. 15-25k is more in line with what the kitchen would actually be for a normal sized small kitchen
In our next house, all we'll have to do with the kitchen is clean it up, change a few little decor details, and get new appliances. We're getting off super easy 🙂
I had an estimate the other day for a kitchen replacement. Almost took my breathe away. They did good, better, best design. They did line items for materials but they were gc with their subs and just put labor almost 60,000! So over 100k for a kitchen. They use dealers for cabinets states away. I am getting other quotes now and checking with builders who have cabinet makers close to where I live. I am hoping to get same quality for lot less price with local cabinet maker shop. The master bath they quote 80,000 and just replacing items not even much moving from current places. The fact they would not be transparent breaking down labor to subs and what they are charging for a GC fee makes a customers feel like they are heavily padding costs and overcharging. The people were extremely nice and professional but what they were charging you could almost build a whole freaking house! They had almost 300k for 1 kitchen and 1 bath remodel.
Hey Emily, great question and we should have clarified. These would EXCLUDE appliances. We normally have our customers purchase their own and have on site when we start the project. It’s better for the customer to have their names on them for warranty or maintenance!
That’s what I’m trying to pay I’m living in a condo that’s barely a 1,000 sq ft and I’m trying to renovate my kitchen and bathroom I’m tryna spend between 7-10k anything more I feel Is a ripoff
Hello. We can’t speak for other contractors but we strive for a 25% gross margin (before overhead, operating expenses, etc.) on all of our projects. Most end up in the 18-22% range. If we do this our business can be profitable and we can continue doing business into the future :)
I get it, that saves you money. But 99% of the time (there are exceptions) you can tell the clear difference between a professional and DIY remodel. DIY on social media is like entrepreneurship on social media, looks really sexy in a reel or video but much harder and not as sexy in reality.
I would rather do it myself. Contractors are money gorgers. no different than politicians and scammers. eventually everyone should do their own renovations 2024 etc,,...
I don’t know what contractors you are working with but you can’t paint a broad brush over the whole of contractors. Sounds like you haven’t done business with a good person.
There is a very small amount of people who can do it themselves safely and at a high quality level. The reality is you’d still to hire trades: plumber and electrician to do it safely. Learning how to remodel on RUclips from DIY accounts isn’t realistic
What would you expect it to be? $40k is that much if you think about it. A cabinet order can easily be $10k, countertops 5k, plus you need demo, plumbing, electrical material and labor, labor to install cabinets and maybe flooring. Appliances. Minimum you are looking at 4 weeks, think about how much you make per day at your job and you need two or three guys working together plus the tradesmen. We think most people don’t fully understand what it takes. Also, contractors ain’t getting rich off one kitchen lol !
