Who ever came up with the word, "skyscraper" did a fantastic job. That's like the perfect word for these buildings.
It was Adolf H who came up with it
@@blackdynamite_5470 no it wasn’t lmao
@@blackdynamite_5470 no it was not lol, it was originally a name of a part of a ship
@@jakub2631 Yeah, I think it had to do with tall sailing ships.
Very fitting word as the sky scraper referred to the highest yard or sail on a sail ship, which were usually the tallest structures in a port city or town at any given time.
I learned about these towers through a 9/11 joke during science class when I was 8 in 2008, I’ve been fascinated by them ever since. The scale, the eloquent facade details/ interiordetails were incredible
You must not be American
@@28430funny enough I am. They didn’t teach us about 9/11 at all
@@1stwonder788 Wow that is so odd to me. I was 5 in 2008 and not a year went by in school when we didn’t watch 9/11 videos in several of our classes. I can’t think back to a time when I didn’t know about 9/11.
What was the joke?
In another universe, they were able to film the real towers for this movie.
And make a sequel
@@elloowu6293 A sequel about what? The story is already told. What would the sequel even be about?
@user-ri1gq3ec2q He crosses the twin towers during a fictional terrorist attack.
"2 Walk 2 Wire"
@@user-ri1gq3ec2qpeople would probably of done it twice, or similar feats.
@@user-ri1gq3ec2qidk man, the empire state building maybe, they'd figure something out
This movie was a nice homage to the Twin Towers. They defined the NYC skyline in a way that young people will never understand. In fact, NYC hasn't been as popular or impressive in pop culture since they went away.
That's actually because shows and movies wanted to avoid the question. "Where were these characters on 9/11 and why is it never mentioned"
That's why a lot of sitcoms switched from NYC to Chicago after 9/11.
@@elloowu6293 That's an interesting hypothesis, but it's simply not true and not even remotely an explanation for what I've said. Do you normally spread random misinformation as facts?
@MrGriff305 How many comedy sitcoms took place in NYC after 9/11? Vs all the sitcoms that took place there before.
Even in older movies, scenes with the Twin Towers were removed for television, like in home alone 2.
Not misinformation
@@MrGriff305 you don't think an explanation about why shows avoided New York is an explanation for why NYC is in pop culture less...?
@@tanner4280 No.
1. I think it's a fake and baseless explanation regarding sitcoms ending to avoid discussing 9/11... Sitcoms moving to Chicago is not a known phenomenon
2. NYC only had a small percentage of overall sitcoms in America prior to 9/11 (And Seinfeld ended in the 90s, Friends ended a few years after 9/11, and it had zero relation to the terrorism)
3. sitcoms stopped being made in large numbers in ALL locations around the country in recent decades, not just NYC.
4. Movies, music, and drama shows were the primary media for NYC's fame. The movies have reduced in number relative to other places after 9/11. That's because the backdrop and cityscape of NYC is less powerful and impressive without the twins in my opinion.
Having said all that, the theory about the sitcoms was just plain wrong on a number of levels
This scene did such a phenomenal job in illustrating the absolute scale of the towers ♥️
2:05 anyone hear like a jet like engine…that gave me goosebumps…
Isn’t it the sound from machines in the WTC construction site?
In a parallel universe, they shot this movie at the World Trade Center's Twin Towers.
2:00 kind of eerie as the camera looks up at the towers you can hear the roar of a jet overhead
Seems like this was intentionally done.
At the very last shot of the movie you can hear a plane getting closer while the camera stares off at the towers
Premonition
This film is a visualization of anxiety
3:06 nice that in the reflection of the South Tower, on the right you can see the North Tower, excellent recreation
I physically recoiled when he looked over the edge
4:32 seconds sent a sweat through my whole body.
I'm legit scared shitless watching him stand upon that beam.
When he was on that beam my body felt like i was tipping over
this guy is the real life sky walker
I love this French Man. ❤
I wonder if he still has that model of the towers.
Read the book that this movie 🍿 is based off of : The Man Who Walked Between The Towers. Mordecai Goldstein wrote it. It’s a children’s book but wonderful! It got a Caldecott honor award for being a great book! I own a copy but have 3 away to family and friends
It would have been alot easier if they knew about the tracks that the window washers would ride on down the side of the building.
Remember that they were a thing just makes the setup hilarious 😂
BROOOOOOO I literally couldn't I was about to lose my lunch just being on top of the Empire State Building and that isn't even as tall and I was behind a bunch of bars from the edge...
It's too bad that this movie emptied theaters everywhere.
it emptied theaters? What do you mean?
@@divinemj3650If my memory serves me correctly, this movie was shown in 3D and made some audience members motion sick. I think that's what happened, but I'm not sure. 🤔
@sylvianapalma958 oh, jeez that's really tough. But that makes sense
World Trade Center were Titans
I don't know what I did, youtube start to recommend all these The Walk and 911 related videos to me in the past few weeks.
September?
this inspired me to also walk between..
I wonder what Mr. Petit thinks about what happened to the towers later.
ruclips.net/video/fzRffFXKAZY/видео.html&ab_channel=InsideEdition
I'm sure he thinks it's totally great? More likely, he thinks the same thing that any decent human being does.
He wrote in his autobiography, "My towers became our towers. I saw them collapse - hurling, crushing thousands of lives. Disbelief preceded sorrow for the obliteration of the buildings, perplexity descended before rage at the unbearable loss of life."
@@highlanderwins3328Thank you
Imagine if that was china steel 3:59
I would trust any beam that size, even if its made in china and very rusty.
Amazing buildings.
they are pretty cool
@@circleinforthecube5170They were pretty cool, weren't they? It's really sad that they're gone because I've always wanted to visit them when I was a kid, but 9/11 occurred and that dream went down the toilet.

Ironically enough if he had a safety wire on i reckon it would have caused him to fall off
Joseph Gordon Levitt actually met the real Philippe Petit, and ( the real Philippe ) taught Levitt how to wire walk ! They went over to The 9/11 Memorial Park and Petit had Levitt wire walk between the two foundations of The WTC Foundations to get a good idea of what it was like!

Heath Ledger ❤❤❤
They look similar but that isn't heath.

That’s Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
Interestingly enough, he starred in 10 Things I Hate About You alongside Heath Ledger

back when america had freedom
I visited America last year and was shocked to learn everyone had died in their homes as moving an inch and breathing oxygen were both made illegal. WHY DIDN’T I VISIT BACK WHEN THERE WAS FREEDOM?
What freedom is it lacking now, because you guys still claim to be the only 'free country' on the planet?
