Jesus said Belief is work, so belief vs work is another false dichotomy. Why are people so angry about obeying Jesus? we are not saying to go back under laws of Moses.
John 6:28-29 - Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? 29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. Jesus only says the work of God is to believe in response to these unsaved person's question "What shall we do that we might work the works of God?" But when it comes to our own works, the Bible says they cannot save us. Ephesians 2:8-9 - "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast." Romans 4:5 - But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. According to the Bible, salvation is a gift, not of works. You cannot earn it.
