Car Share is a brilliant piece of comedy. Such a simple formula of the two essential characters driving to work & then returning home at the end of the day, with rarely anything in between. Also written by Peter Kay, it was just a phenomenal success, as is everything Peter Kay does. He really is a national treasure. His comedy is just so brilliant without being offensive or obnoxious.
That YAWWWWN! This clip is two sections of the show glued together: The trip to work when Kaleigh drops the revelation that she goes dogging, and the return home when she gets John to stop the car to ask the stranger to settle the argument. Hence the end-of-a-long-day yawn....The whole show is a delight and illustrates how the friendship and possibly more develops between John and Kaleigh as the series continues. Each show has a musical fantasy spot around halfway through - the local radio playing in the car has an important part to play throughout. You never see them at work - there is a quick fade out and fade in halfway through each episode between the journey to and from work.
Episodes were half an hour with the first half covering their drive to work and the second the return home. The show begins when the two first start car sharing to work and they don't really know each other well, and progresses through their building relationship, which is done in a really clever and subtle way. Always funny (it's Peter Kay after all) but so superbly done in the way they interact. The chemistry between them reflects a strong friendship in real life as they have worked together on other projects. The performances are brilliant and made so special because there were only a limited number of episodes (two seasons of 6 shows each). It arrived with no fanfare and just became essential viewing. It hasn't been repeated, although is probably available to stream. Utter brilliance, and VERY British.
This was a shortened version , the episodes are about 25 -30 mins long . You should watch in order from episode one (series one) Peter Kay plays the manager of a supermarket who gives a lift (ride) to one of his co-workers every morning while they chat about their dull and sometimes interesting lives during the journey.
This is a bit from an episode. Each episode is 30 mins long. (And as a side fact, shows from the BBC have no advert beaks as the channels are state funded and paid for (mainly) by British households having to pay a TV Licence fee each year). It's a really funny and sweet show, and very much worth you both watching. The premise of the show is Kayleigh and John being paired together as part of a new car share (pool) scheme being rolled out by the management of the supermarket they both work for. Kayleigh and John are both such loveable, and funny, characters.
Lovely to see that you enjoyed this clip. The episodes are about 30 minutes, which is normal for U.K. Comedy series. The premise of Car Share, is Work Colleagues sharing a car journey to and from Work. In the case of Peter Kay and his passenger, Kayleigh, they are both unattached and through the series discover each other.
You really need to watch and react to this show from the beginning. It really is a perfect show and will having you laughing, smiling and crying. Full of heart.
Good Reaction. This is a clip from a 25 minute show. Most UK Sitcoms, deliberately, only last 2 or 3 Series,to "get out at the top" and leave their audience wanting more. They, rarely, continue for the £££$$$. The Office, Extras, Fawlty Towers,Fleabag and this are just a few examples.
Are you sure about that 😯My parents used to have Pampas Grass in their front Garden !! But they were nearly 60 ... though it might explain why I once caught someone in the front garden trying to peep in the window
I joked with my cousin about this as he has Pampas Grass at the front of his garden that he's tried to destroy over the years. The pineapple is meant to be an upside-down pineapple in your shopping trolley at the Supermarket. This came up in an episode of Gogglebox in the last couple of years.
The is a brilliant episode with Reece Shearsmith as a fishmonger who has a lift, and a separate video on RUclips with superb outtakes where Reece is deliberately trying to make Peter corpse 😂😂😂
Car share is brilliant, all the music played on the fictional radio station Forever FM, that they listen to in the car is a on RUclips. A lot of the outside shots of the car driving around are shot where i live, and there are lots of signs on shops that are false but are funny that you might not get they are quite Northern British orientated. I do highly recommended you watch more. Loved the pineapple story. Keep the good work up 👍
There 30 minutes long and 12 episodes of pure brilliants. It great in fact i think i might watch them again it's been about a year since i last watched them so it might be time to get the Blu-rays out and watch them again.
Loving the soft kitty/wookie big bang shirt Nick. Glad you were able to stick with the northern accents, some good 80s 90s music in care share as well.
He is a supermarket manager and she is a shop floor assistant at the same supermarket so they have (theoretically) been at work all day and he gives her a lift to and from work everyday. So the yawn is nothing more than an end of day tiredness yawn.
Gentle much-loved beautifully written and probably the funniest TV comedy of the past ten years. Incredibly every episode is filmed from only inside his red Fiat and it's basically a love story, they're an all but married couple yet don't yet know it and at the time the general public wanted John to ask her to marry him though it never happened, viewers were SO upset he had to write one more episode where they finally became a couple.
Peter Kay is a genius, he takes everyday stuff and makes it funny (watch his stand up shows). Car Share is about 2 people who join a care share scheme at work. Peter Kay is a manager and Sian Gibson (Jenny) is just a store assistant. They didnt know each other at 1st but as the series goes on they become best mates and start having feelings for each other, which both try to deny. Its funny but at times very touching stories. It all takes place driving to and from work. Occasionally doing outside scenes like in Cafe's or one funny episode at the Zoo. Sian and Peter are actually best mates in real life, and the reason she was chosen for the show. There is one episode where they had no script and just did the whole episode without any story or idea. It did not seem out of place as both kept in character and just followed the topic the other one started.
Some years ago I was at an 80th birthday party for one of my aunts with the whole family. One of my uncles, in the middle of family lunch suddenly blurted out that he and his wife (a different aunt) that he and my aunt had been dogging. There was a stunned silence for a couple of seconds then we all erupted into laughter (including my 80 year old aunt) while my uncle sat there looking totally bemused and the relevant aunt was desperately explaining he meant dog walking.
I could be wrong here, but as far as I knew. The pineapple thing is just if you are in someone's house, and they have an actual pineapple sitting upside down, it's to signal they are into swinging.
Car share is totally brilliant comedy, 30 mins an episode where they drive to work and back, nothing much happens but its hilarious and has a brilliant soundtrack
The idea of Car Share is that everything occurs during the journey to and from work. This segment is part of their journey home from work, so you might notice that it is dusk when they arrive at Kayleigh's house. I think that is the reason for the long yawn - to illustrate how knackered they are after a long day at work.
The yawn is an interesting observation. So much of Peter Kay's genius as a performer, both acting and stand up, is the small recognisable nuances. In this scene, the first part of the story is the drive to work in the morning, and the second is the drive home in the evening. Kay's brilliance is that he can tell the viewer two important plot points, with just one casual gesture. First, that the scene is later in time because he's tired after a day at work. Second, that he's comfortable in Kayleigh's presence IE he's comfortable enough to yawn as though they were a long married couple.
This is an absolutely brilliant show, Peter and Sian have been mates since college, so they have natural chemistry which makes it even better! 😊 The premise is so simple, but it works so well - it's hard to tell which bits are done with Peter actually driving the car - and which bits were filmed with the car on a trailer!
A pineapple doormat or a sculpture in the porch or door knocker is a sign of welcome in the US. An upside down pineapple is a code to say they're swingers apparently.
The genius of Peter is that he stopped the series at 12 episodes before i became to tired or formulated and left the public hungry for the next thing. The partnership was a dream and in trus Kay style she got the greater portion of the best lines but lead to some great reactions from him.
It’s an amazing inoffensive but very funny comedy how they can make 12 x 30 min episodes and two Christmas specials out of two main characters sharing a car to and back from work it’s beyond me but they do and it works
That pineapple doormat thing had me howling, I worked on ships at first day on the job the Officer running my ship induction told me about it. Apparently another deck cadet once went ashore on a trip with passengers while wearing pineapple board shorts, many eyebrows were raised!
I heard dogging name was as couples and other strangers go to places people normally go dog walking but late since when they get spicy they also make a display that others can watch even if didn't plan others to watch it
Hi Jodi and Nick, enjoying all your reactions, that was funny. How about this one 'PETER COOK AND DUDLEY MOOR THE HORSE RACE', this is also hilarious, three cheers to you ooo cheers for the race
Where he drops her off is outside my old house .the term dogging comes from married men taking their dog for a walk as an excuse to go to a spot where outdoor sec was going on .
haaaa dogging good reaction the dog part in dogging it was used as an excuse for someone saying taking dog for walk as a cover just to go and watch people doing it in cars in the woods at side off road and watnot peter kay's care share episodes are 30 mins long this was just a small part
I didn't realise that was the connection. What I do know,in London, was a friend of a friend who lived with a Guy who used to take his fearsome dog for a walk @2am some mornings for a "good workout" and came home around 2/3 hours later and he showed on his return. Funnily enough, apparently, the dog looked like it hadn't had any exercise himself....
Yah car share was filmed all around MCR. It's weird watching it doe because one minute they're in Bolton, then in Salford next cut. Also the old guy I believe is the voice of Wallis
Dogging is where people go to a location and engage in public sex, usually in cars, while men gather round to watch. The spectators are usually walking dogs as an excuse to be out of the house, hence 'dogging'.
Still a long way off from working my way through and liking all your reactions so sorry if you have already done this but Peter Kay misheard lyrics is brilliant.
It's called digging because the excuse men would give to get out of the house was they were taking the dog for a walk. Or aswell as that, participants would carry a dog lead/leash with them so if they were stopped in the areas used as dogging locations by the police, they would claim they were walking their dog and it had ran off or some similar excuse.
Suggestion. Morecambe & Wise (comedians) with Andre Previn (world famous conductor and pianist). Greig’s Piano Concerto. M & W were huge in UK and could get many famous serious actors etc to appear on their show and who were happy to be made to look silly but all in good humour.
It’s a brilliant show, each episode is half an hour, sadly only 12 were made. Yes it’s basically two people, John and Kayleigh who car pool to work and back and the relationship that develops, the chemistry between them is great.
This couple.....Sorry I do not know their names.....are so different, the guy is really outgoing and not afraid to show it, whereas his wife appears to be more reticent. Together they are magic to watch, some of the clips that they have posted are REALLY funny and give me (a very old man) a great lift in my spirits. Long may they continue to post their clips.
would guess that the "better have your wits about ya" reminding you of something is probably Filtch saying it in Harry Potter when the children are being punished by going in to the forbidden forest
If they were caught late at night, doggers used the excuse that they were walking the dog or that the dog was missing and that was why they were out late at night in dodgy areas, and the name doggers stuck
Carshare is a brilliant show. If you watch it you need to do it in order as it plays through to a 'finale'. Love the 'soft wookie' t-shirt as am a big fan of the Big Bang Theory - was sad when it ended. 😐🐱
Over here in the UK swingers have pampas grass outside their houses, I have seen a few places with it and wondered if they have no clue about the connection and just like pampas grass. Not a fan of either myself
It's a very smart idea of yours to google what the term means in slang before watching the video and immediately find out the punchline of the whole joke. Excellent show. Funny as 😂
It’s written by both of them.
The writing is so natural, feels like Quinton Tarantino writing
The phrase 'dogging' comes from the husband, as an excuse for going out late at night would say "Just taking the dog for a walk, dear".
One of the greatest modern British comedies- 12 episodes of absolute genius.
Wonderful show. One of the best of the last few years.. The chemistry is spot on.
That YAWWWWN! Kayleigh and John are both such loveable, and funny, characters.
BBC NOT state funded, its publicly funded with a government law to pay for a TV licence.
My favourite is the safari park episode when they go home with more than they bargained for 😂
The safari park episode is the best! So funny!
Yes that's one of my favourites too. And the one with the cyclist 😂
Lovely to see that you enjoyed this clip. The episodes are about 30 minutes, which is normal for U.K. Comedy series. You really need to watch and react to this show from the beginning. It really is a perfect show and will having you laughing, smiling and crying. Full of heart.
Went to see Peter Kay last Friday, 05/05 in Glasgow. 2 hours of pure escapism with loads of laughs. Highly recommended show to catch

Pineapples!! back in the70s used to be Pampas Grass growing on front garden for swingers

Yeah especially the hotstepper outtakes, saying he was a very naughty boy to that track & the getting the lyrics wrong
@@markedmonds8694 indeed 😀😀😀
Car share is one of the best comedies made also the music in it is great as well
I think the dog part comes from the fact that some of the ‘spectators’ watching the ‘public exhibitors in cars’ are people out walking their dogs.
@mike c s Don't walk in the woods at night then!
Or the fact they have sex in view of people like dogs in the street or a reference to the nature of the women?
My guess is that it comes from the fact that 2 dogs are mating, the other male dogs will hang around watching with their tongues out
The way I've heard it, if they were busted by the police, they used to say they were all looking for a lost dog.
@mike c s Yes, you'll be in for a big surprise!
Oh my goodness about your front foor mat. That's is so funny. I love your reactions, especially to Peter Kay, you really appreciate his comedy.
Thanks!
Car share is brilliant, all the music played on the fictional radio station Forever FM, that they listen to in the car is a on RUclips. Another grerat reaction. As you liked this, you might check out the Benny Hill sketch 'wife swap'.

👏👏👏 brilliant, you would love the full series. Your story regarding pineapples was just as funny 😂
So glad you enjoyed it!!
There is a song which will explain dogging by fascinating aida a comedy group. Well worth a reaction.
It's about a 30 minute program, they split it between going to work and going home. When you watch it in full, it feels more like 15 to 20 minutes.
Peter Kay is a genius, he takes everyday stuff and makes it funny (watch his stand up shows). Car Share is about 2 people who join a care share scheme at work. yip! that was another fun video guys thank you!
Car share is totally brilliant comedy, 30 mins an episode where they drive to work and back, nothing much happens but its hilarious and has a brilliant soundtrack
The yawn - the episodes are in two parts, the journey to work and the journey home. The yawns are on the journey home.
Great reaction. More Car Share please! My favourite episode was when they had to give their store fishmonger a lift!

Peter Kay is great! When you first described what you thought dogging was after looking it up that made me laugh!!😂
Wonderful post! Put a smile on my face! ( BTW, What the hell is a pineapple doormat?). Keep 'em coming.🐕🦺😇
A pineapple doormat or a sculpture in the porch or door knocker is a sign of welcome in the US. An upside down pineapple is a code to say they're swingers apparently.
A doormat is a a way to greet others and allow them to wipe the mud/dirt off their shoes before entering your house.
I love the synchronised head shaking when she says There the same thing 😂
I should watch more and also watch the bloopers. They are epic
Car share is Peters finest achievement
The genius of Peter is that he stopped the series at 12 episodes before i became to tired or formulated and left the public hungry for the next thing. The partnership was a dream and in trus Kay style she got the greater portion of the best lines but lead to some great reactions from him.

It’s an amazing inoffensive but very funny comedy how they can make 12 x 30 min episodes and two Christmas specials out of two main characters sharing a car to and back from work it’s beyond me but they do and it works
The outtakes from this serise is amazing
Hi from England.. love your open mindedness.. willing to learn and engage in it despite it being foreign to you both... Loved your reactions.
Thanks for saying by this. It’s fun to react to but we do put ourselves out there subject to any comments.
The final episode of this wonderful show is still just magic to me.
That pineapple doormat thing had me howling, I worked on ships at first day on the job the Officer running my ship induction told me about it. Apparently another deck cadet once went ashore on a trip with passengers while wearing pineapple board shorts, many eyebrows were raised!
I heard dogging name was as couples and other strangers go to places people normally go dog walking but late since when they get spicy they also make a display that others can watch even if didn't plan others to watch it
He was yawning because he’s done a full shift at work… it’s called acting 😊
Hi Jodi and Nick, enjoying all your reactions, that was funny. How about this one

@@Isleofskye ha well now you know what he got up to when "walking the dog" at 2am
The pineapple door mat is funnier than the doging is for life not just Christmas bumper sticker, still laughing.
Yah car share was filmed all around MCR. It's weird watching it doe because one minute they're in Bolton, then in Salford next cut.
Also the old guy I believe is the voice of Wallis

Pineapple doormat , truth coming out now lol. 😂
I only have 1 word, WOOF!!
Great comedy the day they knock off work and go to the wildlife park is the funniest clip ever.
Which one of you found out about the Pineapple.
.... errrm! We need to have a talk Jodie.... is how I think that conversation started 🎉🎉🎉 😊
8:13 yawning ... he was trying to create a 'natural' everyday scenario
Still a long way off from working my way through and liking all your reactions so sorry if you have already done this but Peter Kay misheard lyrics is brilliant.

would guess that the "better have your wits about ya" reminding you of something is probably Filtch saying it in Harry Potter when the children are being punished by going in to the forbidden forest
Oh yes. That’s it. I was thinking of Pirates of the Caribbean after recording that day but you nailed it.
I'd heard of dog in from UK
But wow didn't know about the meanings regarding pineapple lol
If they were caught late at night, doggers used the excuse that they were walking the dog or that the dog was missing and that was why they were out late at night in dodgy areas, and the name doggers stuck
The yawn is just something at the end of a long working day.
Yes!! With over 100 teenagers!
Coming to a car park near you!! 🙈🙈🤣🤣

The episode where they had the monkey was the best episode
It's such a good show. I hope ypu guys get to watch it. You got to do it in order. I think it is 6 episodes in 1 series.
I wish you made the content main screen...otherwise i like...your lives could be entertaining...but you are genuine treasures...welcome to our culture
You need to watch the whole series.
Great series
Comedy Gold 😂
I highly recommend you watch, Max and Paddy's Road to Nowhere. With peter kay and paddy mcguiness.
You can't beat a good bit of doggin in the UK

Shameless, Father Ted , something a bit more surreal Stella Street. Peter Kay had another show Phoenix Nights. Allan Partridge (Steve Coogan)

The dog walk was the excuse, people would tell their wives they were taking the dog out and then "go dogging".
