Car Share is a brilliant piece of comedy. Such a simple formula of the two essential characters driving to work & then returning home at the end of the day, with rarely anything in between. Also written by Peter Kay, it was just a phenomenal success, as is everything Peter Kay does. He really is a national treasure. His comedy is just so brilliant without being offensive or obnoxious.

The phrase 'dogging' comes from the husband, as an excuse for going out late at night would say "Just taking the dog for a walk, dear".

That YAWWWWN! This clip is two sections of the show glued together: The trip to work when Kaleigh drops the revelation that she goes dogging, and the return home when she gets John to stop the car to ask the stranger to settle the argument. Hence the end-of-a-long-day yawn....The whole show is a delight and illustrates how the friendship and possibly more develops between John and Kaleigh as the series continues. Each show has a musical fantasy spot around halfway through - the local radio playing in the car has an important part to play throughout. You never see them at work - there is a quick fade out and fade in halfway through each episode between the journey to and from work.

  • @petergoddard1960
    @petergoddard1960 Год назад +7

Episodes were half an hour with the first half covering their drive to work and the second the return home. The show begins when the two first start car sharing to work and they don't really know each other well, and progresses through their building relationship, which is done in a really clever and subtle way. Always funny (it's Peter Kay after all) but so superbly done in the way they interact. The chemistry between them reflects a strong friendship in real life as they have worked together on other projects. The performances are brilliant and made so special because there were only a limited number of episodes (two seasons of 6 shows each). It arrived with no fanfare and just became essential viewing. It hasn't been repeated, although is probably available to stream. Utter brilliance, and VERY British.

This was a shortened version , the episodes are about 25 -30 mins long . You should watch in order from episode one (series one) Peter Kay plays the manager of a supermarket who gives a lift (ride) to one of his co-workers every morning while they chat about their dull and sometimes interesting lives during the journey.

  • @sarahwalton2662

This is a bit from an episode. Each episode is 30 mins long. (And as a side fact, shows from the BBC have no advert beaks as the channels are state funded and paid for (mainly) by British households having to pay a TV Licence fee each year).
It's a really funny and sweet show, and very much worth you both watching.
The premise of the show is Kayleigh and John being paired together as part of a new car share (pool) scheme being rolled out by the management of the supermarket they both work for.
Kayleigh and John are both such loveable, and funny, characters.

Lovely to see that you enjoyed this clip. The episodes are about 30 minutes, which is normal for U.K. Comedy series. The premise of Car Share, is Work Colleagues sharing a car journey to and from Work. In the case of Peter Kay and his passenger, Kayleigh, they are both unattached and through the series discover each other.

Gentle much-loved beautifully written and probably the funniest TV comedy of the past ten years. Incredibly every episode is filmed from only inside his red Fiat and it's basically a love story, they're an all but married couple yet don't yet know it and at the time the general public wanted John to ask her to marry him though it never happened, viewers were SO upset he had to write one more episode where they finally became a couple.

Peter Kay is a genius, he takes everyday stuff and makes it funny (watch his stand up shows). Car Share is about 2 people who join a care share scheme at work. Peter Kay is a manager and Sian Gibson (Jenny) is just a store assistant. They didnt know each other at 1st but as the series goes on they become best mates and start having feelings for each other, which both try to deny. Its funny but at times very touching stories. It all takes place driving to and from work. Occasionally doing outside scenes like in Cafe's or one funny episode at the Zoo. Sian and Peter are actually best mates in real life, and the reason she was chosen for the show. There is one episode where they had no script and just did the whole episode without any story or idea. It did not seem out of place as both kept in character and just followed the topic the other one started.

Some years ago I was at an 80th birthday party for one of my aunts with the whole family.
One of my uncles, in the middle of family lunch suddenly blurted out that he and his wife (a different aunt) that he and my aunt had been dogging. There was a stunned silence for a couple of seconds then we all erupted into laughter (including my 80 year old aunt) while my uncle sat there looking totally bemused and the relevant aunt was desperately explaining he meant dog walking.

The idea of Car Share is that everything occurs during the journey to and from work. This segment is part of their journey home from work, so you might notice that it is dusk when they arrive at Kayleigh's house. I think that is the reason for the long yawn - to illustrate how knackered they are after a long day at work.

The yawn is an interesting observation. So much of Peter Kay's genius as a performer, both acting and stand up, is the small recognisable nuances. In this scene, the first part of the story is the drive to work in the morning, and the second is the drive home in the evening. Kay's brilliance is that he can tell the viewer two important plot points, with just one casual gesture. First, that the scene is later in time because he's tired after a day at work. Second, that he's comfortable in Kayleigh's presence IE he's comfortable enough to yawn as though they were a long married couple.

This is an absolutely brilliant show, Peter and Sian have been mates since college, so they have natural chemistry which makes it even better! 😊 The premise is so simple, but it works so well - it's hard to tell which bits are done with Peter actually driving the car - and which bits were filmed with the car on a trailer!

It's called digging because the excuse men would give to get out of the house was they were taking the dog for a walk. Or aswell as that, participants would carry a dog lead/leash with them so if they were stopped in the areas used as dogging locations by the police, they would claim they were walking their dog and it had ran off or some similar excuse.

It's a very smart idea of yours to google what the term means in slang before watching the video and immediately find out the punchline of the whole joke.
According to your instructions, I have decided that from now on I will find out the endings of movies before I see them.
Why unnecessarily wait so long if there is a spoiler, right?😁
