The story behind why he wrote this song really makes everything behind these lyrics hit so much harder. Shawn is an amazing person, I got to meet him at one of shows and he took the time too talk to me for a few minutes about my nephew who wants to get into the music business and gave me some advice too give him. Will never forget his kindness.

Can't believe I didn't see this before now. Shawn has an incredible voice with so much emotion. He has a bunch of great original songs along with many covers. If you ever want to get back around to some more of his stuff, I'd definitely recommend any of the Number of the Beast performances. He did an acoustic version of Iron Maiden's number of the beast in a live show.. You HAVE to check that one out. I'm gonna get a lot of flack, but I prefer his version to the original.

dunno if anyone in the comments has said it, but the base structure of this song is interestingly a paraphrased bible verse, Psalm 23: "though i walk through the valley of the shadow of evil i shall fear no evil for the lord is with me. Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and i will dwell in the house of the lord forever more." which is the 1st verse, then he improvs his own lyrics
