As a 10 year old kid I spent most Sunday afternoons at Bridgnorth as my Mum and Dad were volunteers and used to run the bookstall there. I had free run of the entire place! Could climb over the engines (started off with Collett 3205 and Class 2 46443 ) and the other stock. Could reset the points in the yard (hand levered!) and that hand cart you look at... me another lad had great fun up and down the sidings with that! Health and Safety? What's all that about? !!
OOH Jenny! Slip-up!! The Vulcan works were in Earlestown, just up the road (both road and rail) from Newton-le-Willows! I used to live half a mile frolm the Vulcan foundry. (It is now a housing estate).
Hi Jenny A great video, although you still need to visit the Diesel engine shed at Kidderminster, lots of nice things too see there! Including the Hydrogen powered Gronk, if its still there. Thanks
A great video, Jenny. Quite a place! Heh, got to get on one of the foot-plates! It's quite a place. The ROD 9F is a pretty loco, in that Blue, and a powerful machine for her day, I dare say. I do like the 2-6-4T's The Drummond one is my favorite one but the Riddles Standards are just as attractive. Highley looks like a good Day-Out as it's one of the lesser spoken and written about stops on the Severn Valley Railway. Thanks again Jenny. Keep well now. Cheers!
Boy do I feel old. Last time I visited the SVR, most …edit: ALL…of the locos in this shed were still in service 😮. 48377 was of course LMS 8233 back then too. In fact I don’t think there was a shed at Highley back then. Everything was at Bridgenorth, or parked up on the (disused) line to Kidderminster!
The ''Highley Mining Company'' wagon in the museum is a fake. Its a LNER wagon that the line has painted up for the museum. There is a real one at Kidderminster Town that is very rotten
You are a great presenter Jennifer, a natural. You always make your videos enjoyable to watch. Thank you.
