indeed i was there in the 70's when that PRR tuscan red E-7 was outside and painted a faded PC black. there was also a blue/grey/blk B&O rpo that was giving off some very BAD vibes, i absolutely refused to go near it, let alone sneak inside, the only other place i felt those weird hostile 'stay away' feelings were at ampere depot in east orange nj while working on NJT in the 80's before they finally tore it down... VERY bad place. always finding bodies in the old baggage labyrinths below. usually addicts who broke in to get 'high' . . MY job as a B&B carpenter was to board it back up. that was the only station i always went armed to. every time. but i digress.

Hi, it's a 86' boxcar and still used today. In Buffalo,NY. Norfolk Southern builded (1) even bigger than this but never put it to service. Been going here over 27 years now and over time the museum has let some locomotives go. There behind a couple years now because a 3-5 roundhouse is going up. Make sure if you go to there again, you eat at Dienner's restaurant on route 30 next to Dutch Haven!

Absolutely outstanding. Beyond well presented, we were last there back in the early 90’s with our 5 year old twins, stayed in the Red Caboose lodge, and it was magical!
As a child back in the 50’s, my Mom and I rode behind the N&W J class between Suffolk Va and Western Va, and the fondest of memories!
For whatever reason, my wife and I began to discuss this at dinner tonight, I went on RUclips and found your video.
Great use of music, narration, sharing of operational details, and just an absolutely fun time spent on our big screen, with a great sound system.
Many thanks for your passion and gift of media orchestration!

I also love the Conrail engine, so beautiful. Every piece is restored so beautifully. Can't get over the admission of 10 dollars, what a deal. I'm very familiar with Conrail who took over for CNJ. A line went from Ashley Yards up Casey Ave back of old Kmart right to Sheetz years ago. I moved from there tho enjoyed when the train came sort of often in 60s and 70s. Really enjoyed the video!!

The HO scale layout at 33:30 was featured in Model Railroader a few years ago. It was someone's layout that was donated to the museum. Some of the places featured on the layout are Lewistown and some of the PRR bridges over the Juniata River. The coal warf on the layout is a representation of the one at Denholm, it was similar to the one you did a video on a few weeks ago near Amtrak.

I've been a member there for years. Tip for the serious photographers, it's VERY dark inside especially on the west end of the building. They do allow tripods if you are considerate of other guests and that helps with the longer exposures that are encountered there. I've shot 35mm, medium format and large format film there with no issues. The outside rolling stock yard is a photographers paradise if you like texture, rust, metal parts, etc.

Great video, and I'm glad you got to visit the museum! That's still something I need to do on a future Strasburg trip. They've got a great collection with a nice variety of trains. It's a shame the rain cut your time in the yard short. That Lehigh Valley RDC is one of my favorites that you can see from the road, and it's like the one we rode in last year. #860 is a Metroliner. They used to run on the Northeast Corridor at 100+ mph. They modified some of them as cab control cars that run through Paradise now. Speaking of which, can you imagine an old steam engine running through there even faster than today's Amtraks?! Must have been quite a sight to see! Love that Conrail diesel too! Conrail blue is seriously the most perfect color in the known universe. Glad you got to see that one firsthand.

A great video - I will have to make a visit from Canada later this year. However just one small point - the "officially recognised" fastest steam loco in the world is the Mallard pacific in the UK, not 7002. Apparently, near Elida, Ohio, the #7002 and her train was reported to have covered 3 miles in 85 seconds, and was clocked at 127.1mph. This would make the #7002 the fastest steam locomotive. The issue is that this speed was calculated by two separate observers at Elida and AY Tower. It is very inaccurate to calculate time and speed just by the signal registers. Also the average speed from Elida to Fort Wayne (the train's final stop) was only 68mph. So, it may be possible that it went that fast, but very dubious.

They use to have a central railroad of New Jersey camel back, it's a shame they are letting that k 4 stay out side and rot away that and the New York Central Hudson had history behind them!
