I have not tried putting some flavourings but Puto Calasiao vendors have become diverse in their flavour selections like Pandan, Ube, Strawberry etc. You can try Pandan should you wish to.

So much easier than the traditional way, and yet pareho ang lasa at texture. Malapit lang po kami sa Calasiao Pangasinan kaya eto po talaga ang paborito kong meryenda or almusal noon sa Pilipinas
Calasiao puto. The mixture is placed in stone containers fermented overnight. The stone containers develop bacteria which gives rise to the puto without using yeast.

Yes, pwede po mag add ng cheese sa ibabaw pero po mga 1 minute bago mo iswitch off yung flame. Ang ginagawa po namin sa Pangasinan is. Nagi-grate na lang po kami ng cheese pag malamig na yung puto. Mas masarap sya.
