Hope you "Like" and share with all!
I have been getting plenty of messages from viewers already telling me videos I have missed along the way. Cheers, The Americans, Vampire Diaries, Take this Waltz... If I get enough I would love to make a second video!

I love how the writers for Friends think it's a 2 hour ferry ride from Montreal to Nova Scotia.
There was also the Episode of Friends where they wanted to do something crazy and were going to go on a fishing trip to Nova Scotia.
I wish it was a 2 hour ferry ride from Montreal to Nova Scotia!
You do know that Nova Scotia is not an island..right?
2 hour ferry ride from Nova Scotia from nfld
Obviously they've never been.Insulting Americans.
Nova Scotia isn’t a island bud..

Dan Sweeney dano

I literally was gonna mention thatXD
"Two Hour ferry ride from Montreal to Nova Scotia"? Man, I forgot how extremely imbecilic the writers on Friends were
I want to know what kind of engines that ferry is using.
To be fair they didn't have Google Maps then
Long live free Nova Scotia.
Free......lmfao.
Two more: Fresh Prince talks about a crib malfunctioning that launches a baby into the air, and another Friends' episode, where they're going to party with Gandalf on a fishing boat to Nova Scotia.
Fuckin right i seen that shit it was dope
Hey Ryan, thanks for the cool video. A prominent one you missed was another Friends episode, "The One Where They're Going To Party" in season 4, episode 9 when Ross and Chandler are waiting for their friend 'Gandalf' to show up so the fun can begin... Chandler explains to Joey why they're so excited: "You go out for a couple of beers and end up on a fishing boat to Nova Scotia!"
There were 2 references in Criminal Minds episodes about Halifax and Nova Scotia.
Nova Scotian here too! :) The movie 'Taking Lives' which most of the movie takes place in Canada anyway, Nova Scotia is mentioned. Also, Ethan Hawk has a house here.
Last season's American Horror Story Coven, a cruise to Nova Scotia is said in one episode.
Since Nova Scotia is referenced often on the movies, this province definitely has considerable influence in Hollywood, television, and North American media and life.
Even though I now live in Newfoundland, I'm proud to be a Nova Scotian.
There's a second refference to Nova Scotia in an episode of Fresh Prince. The one where they are building the crib.
I've been waiting for a video like this for a long time. I've been noticing Nova references for a while. There's also a few in 'Cheers'.
In vampire diraries, the cure to vamp purism is in Nova Scotia.
I was looking for this comment
I liked this a lot, thank you. I used to visit NS every year as I had I close friend that was from there. We always had a blast during spring thaw, lobster and bonfires on the beach were some of my best life experiences.
World War Z (2013) I dont think it was out when you did this video. The ending at ‘Freeport Safe Zone, Nova Scotia’ is the beautiful rocky bay of Lulworth Cove, south of West Lulworth on the coast of Dorset, about 12 miles west of Bournemouth.
So is my home province so well known only for its great sea food
So what yer sayin is, my province is the arse end of the Canada, and we known for fish! perfect little province
Thanks Laura! Already working on a second video. Getting plenty of suggestions so far and that will certainly be in the next one.
Pretty Little Liars, S4 E14 spencer mentioned nova scotia
Same too haha!
Dude I absolutely love this! Thank you so dang much for taking your time and energy all those years ago to do this!
Hey Roxner! Saw this video making huge waves on my feed, and was very suprised to see you pop up at the beginning.
Here's a link to another Friends reference, the episode with Gandalf:
Also, there's another Fresh Prince reference in the episode where Phil and Carlton build baby Nicky a crib. Ashley mentions it.
Nice work, make more of these.
Awesome job on the references! Might use some for my daily vlog, thank you!
There's another Friends reference.
Friends S4E9: The One Where They're Going to Party.
CHANDLER: Look you don't understand, Gandalf is amazing. Y'know you're never know what's gonna end up happening, you go out for a couple of beers and end up on a fishing boat to Nova Scotia!
Great to see Hollywood has heard of my home province. I haven't been home in many years, but I hope I will be soon. Really miss it.
2:58 best description of Nova Scotia
you need to make a part 2
Hooray for us! Apparently a lot more people know about our awesome little Province than we are told. Certainly, I can name quite a few big names of off the top my head who apparently love it here: Pierce Brosnan, Bruce Willis, Ozzy Osbourne, Keith Richards, Billy Boyd, Famke Janssen, Ellen Page (duh), Stephen King, Sidney Crosby (duh again), Gene Simmons, Dave Mustaine, Randy Blythe, etc. Certainly, a lot of those Musician ones could've just been saying it because it's the right thing to do when you're on Stage; and not actually remember us much. Pierce Brosnan has been here a lot though, and somewhat recently finished up shooting a Television Show or something on the South Shore; and Bruce Willis apparently has a big Summer Home only an hour or two out of Halifax. Also, that Archer Episode was pretty much the greatest thing ever; especially considering that every single Character in that Episode that wasn't a Main Character was voiced by the Trailer Park Boys LOL.
Hey Raoul, few people have made the suggestion earlier in the comments. Just checked out that part and it was really well done haha. Poor Jason Lee.
Season 3 of "only Murders in the Building" had numerous mentions of "upper" Nova Scotia. They were doing a play based there.
In the David Cronenberg movie SCANNERS, near the end of the movie, when the Scanner named Vale is psychicly linking to a computer bank, you see a screen with a list of locations, one is Rimouski, Quebec, and the next is Liverpool, Nova Scotia.
+David Young David Cronenberg is Canadian and the movie was produced in Canada so I don't think your reference would count. The video only showed American movies and TV shows
i've been looking for that campaign one forever! thanks!
There was a great one in a Season 1 episode of the "The West Wing," featuring the line: "They have telephones in Nova Scotia, Leo, it's not Amish country." That one always puts a smile on my face.
Telephone was invented in nova scotia! I think that’s where the joke came from
Believe it or not, more and more Amish families are moving to the Maritimes, especially to Prince Edward Island.
What about the Perfect Storm....mentions driving to Digby NS.
There was another reference to NS in "Friends." Same year and same season the episode before or after the one in the video with Chandler talking to Joey about his friend GANDOLF.
HammyJMitch yeah thats why i looked this up, weird that it was two eps in a row..
Hollywood is obsessed with Nova Scotia references!! I've been saying this for years.
nice work, there's a good clip from Weeds where Andy talks about one summer he spent in Nova Scotia and it's fucking epic..
The Little Mushroom People Of Nova Scotia are adorable 🤗
Halifax has a mention in Homeland series, season 3
Of course there's also the Carly Simon lyric in "You're So Vain"..."flew your Lear jet to Nova Scotia to see the total eclipse of the sun"
RIP Uncle Phil
Outback Sam for real
Hello Jillemader. I was unaware of that Tumblr when I released the video but have been hearing about it today! I started this project over a year ago when I was living abroad and really missing home. I applaud the Tumblr creator for doing such a great job and being as passionate as I am about Nova Scotia. Had I known about that site I would have been able to include their references and give them some classy credit where it would have been due!
Great video. The only other reference to NS I can think of was in Stealing Harvard, when Jason Lee gets caught breaking in to the mansion and the widower makes him spoon.
Great video! I remember in "Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas" in the last story of the film.. Pete mentions "Nova Scotian Pine" when referring to the Christmas trees; Ellen DeGeneres mentioned Halifax on her show last fall.
in the movie non-stop with liam neeson, when he tells them there was a terrorist threat on the plane they say they are over the ocean and the closest place to land is london or turn around and land in halifax
Carlie Simon sang the song
i think there is one in an Indiana Jones movie...or maybe romancing the stone...
just remember being super stoked as a kid hearing Nova Scotia in a movie. Nice work bud:)
Thanks so much TheZurul! I look forward to getting that clip for the next video.
Good job. The Friend's episode with Fun Bobby where they talk about drinking and ending up going to Nova Scotia by boat is a good one too.
Wow amazing! People were telling me about the reference but to have someone tell me the season and episode is so much better! Thanks jvan747!!
I'm from Halifax too! Awesome video.. You forgot world war z tho.... They mention us at the end!!
Ya, will certainly have to put together a big music compilation as a whole separate video!
Haha I definitely missed that one! Will take a look for it when I have the chance. Cheers.
Great Video by the way !
In the first father of the bride movie, with Elizabeth Taylor is upset because her fiance wants to spend their honeymoon fishing off the coast of Nova Scotia!
There's an episode of the john larroquette show where he is talking about a friend that was taking speed...
"He was so hopped up he ran all the way to Manhattan"
"Well, it's not THAT far away"
"He started in Nova Scotia "
There is also another friends reference , when Chandler and Ross talk about their friend Gandalf , And how last time they woke up on a boat in NS with seals licking their face
Great video!!!
"The Hunt for Red October" opens with a map of Nova Scotia.
Man nice video bro! So cool how fresh prince shouted us out
Love it! And I love Friends, buy there is no ferry between Nova Scotia and Montreal - especially a 2 hour one!
Hey Ryan Long time no see um, I don't know if you remember but I am a huge movie nerd and well you did miss a few, Glad you got Goon in though I would have put the Stock footage of the metro center in the clip it cracks me up. Anyways a Big one you missed is the 2003 Movie The in-laws stars Albert Brooks and Michael Douglas and in about 8 mintues in Michael Douglas is flying a Plan that is going to crash in Nova Soctia.
Who wants to meet up at Halifax shopping centre? 😂
The Vampire Diaries Season 4, the episode is called Into the Wild. This episode has the gang traveling to an island off the coast of Nova Scotia to search for a cure to change a vampire back into a mortal human.
Maybe its Sable Island.
I remember watching an old Humphrey Bogart movie where he sails out of Halifax as a merchant marine.
Friends mentions Nova Scotia twice - the other is when their friend Gandalf is coming to party. Nova Scotia is also mentioned in an episode of West Wing.
Great video Ryan, well shared today. You should remake this, to include updated comments on Jon Stewart to Tuxedo Stan and other things this that hit the media more recently, but this was a great collection, well done. Thanks for putting it together, there were some laughs when I realized how many times I heard NS in Movie Clips.
I love this video.
there's a second friends one. Ross mentions getting super drunk with an old friend and waking up in nova Scotia.
The Vampire Diaries also made a mention of Nova Scotia in a recent episode! There's a clip featuring it already on youtube.
Love it! West Wing had some references as well.
Sheldon Coopers flag in Big Bang theory is our coat of arms
Yes i noticed that too
the tv show Friends had one more in watch the episode the other day
There was an episode of Fresh prince where carlton and phil were building a crib for nikki and ashley comes down stairs with news clips about the crib launching kids in to the air. After the first one, carlton says 'oh that was just one time' and she responds with 'the same thing happened to twins in nova scotia' or something along those lines.
The John Larroquete Show was a short lived sitcom where he worked at a bus Depot. in one episode a charcter was taking speed and John's character told him a story about a friend being on speed and running all the way to Jersey. When the guy heard this he said it wasn't that far. John told him that he started running from nova Scotia. And of course the opening shot of the hunt for red October
Ooh that one sounds incredible! Thanks
Nice work my friend. Dave from Blainville Québec
Man, I believe i found an amazing one that I think you may have missed. It's in the movie Stealing Harvard, and the scene starts right at the 25:00 mark according to my DVD player! Definitely worth checking out, it's hilarious. Let me know what you think!
Thanks Colin! Cheers
Hahaha thanks fps. Sure I'll see you in Black Ops 2 soon. I will get your mailing address at that time for sandwich sending!
In Weeds episode 602, while in the convenience store, Andy mentions spending a summer in Nova Scotia
the movie "against all odds" with jeff bridges (80's) had a reference around the end of the movie about lining dump trucks from "here to Nova Scotia"...or something like that. It has been a long time....lol.
very interesting!
Haha,me and my buddy have said for years its funny that any time Canada is mentioned in pop culture its Nova Scotia specifically . Its not a Tv show or movie but I remembered when in the famous book "To Kill A Mockingbird" there's a line that said "Dill was known as a fibber, he once said he'd been to Nova Scotia" :)
The Netflix documentary called "The Staircase" references a court case from Nova Scotia at the end of the 5th episode
I'm from New Brunswick and I really liked this
East hants here. 👌
Same
Cool
Nova Scotia and Cape Breton Island were both mentioned in Season 1, Episode 3 of Bones, "A Boy in a Tree." They're mentioned between the times of 19:21 and 19:53!
In Ocean's Twelve when Terry Benedict is going around confronting all of the participants from the last movie Bernie Mac's character mentions Nova Scotia before he in confronted by him.
Haha daamee, thought i found gold ;) Anyways, cheers bud! Great job on the video btw, maybe you'll be able to make a part II with the help of the internet and it's citizens ;)
Season 4, episode 9 of Friends: When gandalf is coming to town and chandler is excited, he says "you'd go out for a couple of beers and end up on a fishing boat to nova scotia", "really?" - joey, "yea it's a beautiful country up there"
There are also visual references to 902 area codes in "A Few Good Men" and "No Way Out" when looking at a list of phone calls.
good one
Im from Dartmouth, like geddy my #1 favorite doughnut was always the "walnut crunch",Was absolutely devastated when T-H canceled it,but then all thier cake & doughnuts, pastries were downhill when nothing was fresh anymore.
love it.
Didn't Superman in the "The Man of Steel" go through Nova Scotia on his trek to the North Pole?
I remember the Resturant he worked at has Alexander Kieths beer logos hanging on the wall and bottles of it on the tables and a sign that said Imported from Nova Scotia
I think the keyword there is imported. My brother and I had an argument on that too
As it looks like it hasn't been mentioned, in "The Shipping News" there are several Nova Scotia references. 1) The Chronicle Herald stands in for the News paper plant Quoyle works in as an Ink setter, 2) The MacDonald Bridge is where Petal kills herself, 3) Chocolate Lake is where Quoyle gets pushed in the water by his father, and also where Anges gets humiliated by her brother (Flashback sequence), and I think 4) Inlgis street near the docks is where Quoyle lives when he is waiting to hear back from the police when Aunt Agnes arrives.
I haven't watched this til the ending. Still watching. But did you include the Die Hard or Die Hard II reference? Or Malcom In The Middle? Also the Day After Tomorrow I believe mentioned NS.
This is great! I do have one you missed though. The original Father of the Bride with Liz Taylor. She is upset because her fiancé wants them to honeymoon in Nova Scotia so he can go fishing. Ha
The Die Hard one was from an alternate ending, but in the ending used in the actual movie one of Simon's men talks about trucks driving to Nova Scotia near the end
There's also a Daily Show segment where correspondents argue about whether the newly-discovered holy city is "Halalifax" or "Challafax".
I know that some provinces use three numbers first and three letters next on their license plates, particularly Quebec and British Columbia.
Since I'm originally from Nova Scotia, I knew from the start that the license plate was fake as there were many errors on it, including the numbering system, bolts over the slogan, and galleon depicted as opposed to the schooner.
In addition, the girl didn't seem to use a typical Canadian Maritime English/Nova Scotian accent.
