Im from Dartmouth, like geddy my #1 favorite doughnut was always the "walnut crunch",Was absolutely devastated when T-H canceled it,but then all thier cake & doughnuts, pastries were downhill when nothing was fresh anymore.
I love how the writers for Friends think it's a 2 hour ferry ride from Montreal to Nova Scotia. There was also the Episode of Friends where they wanted to do something crazy and were going to go on a fishing trip to Nova Scotia.
There was an episode of Fresh prince where carlton and phil were building a crib for nikki and ashley comes down stairs with news clips about the crib launching kids in to the air. After the first one, carlton says 'oh that was just one time' and she responds with 'the same thing happened to twins in nova scotia' or something along those lines.
Season 4, episode 9 of Friends: When gandalf is coming to town and chandler is excited, he says "you'd go out for a couple of beers and end up on a fishing boat to nova scotia", "really?" - joey, "yea it's a beautiful country up there"
Since Nova Scotia is referenced often on the movies, this province definitely has considerable influence in Hollywood, television, and North American media and life. Even though I now live in Newfoundland, I'm proud to be a Nova Scotian.
in the movie non-stop with liam neeson, when he tells them there was a terrorist threat on the plane they say they are over the ocean and the closest place to land is london or turn around and land in halifax
In the David Cronenberg movie SCANNERS, near the end of the movie, when the Scanner named Vale is psychicly linking to a computer bank, you see a screen with a list of locations, one is Rimouski, Quebec, and the next is Liverpool, Nova Scotia.
+David Young David Cronenberg is Canadian and the movie was produced in Canada so I don't think your reference would count. The video only showed American movies and TV shows
There's an episode of the john larroquette show where he is talking about a friend that was taking speed... "He was so hopped up he ran all the way to Manhattan" "Well, it's not THAT far away" "He started in Nova Scotia "
The Vampire Diaries Season 4, the episode is called Into the Wild. This episode has the gang traveling to an island off the coast of Nova Scotia to search for a cure to change a vampire back into a mortal human.
Great video. The only other reference to NS I can think of was in Stealing Harvard, when Jason Lee gets caught breaking in to the mansion and the widower makes him spoon.
Haha,me and my buddy have said for years its funny that any time Canada is mentioned in pop culture its Nova Scotia specifically . Its not a Tv show or movie but I remembered when in the famous book "To Kill A Mockingbird" there's a line that said "Dill was known as a fibber, he once said he'd been to Nova Scotia" :)
In the first father of the bride movie, with Elizabeth Taylor is upset because her fiance wants to spend their honeymoon fishing off the coast of Nova Scotia!
i think there is one in an Indiana Jones movie...or maybe romancing the stone... just remember being super stoked as a kid hearing Nova Scotia in a movie. Nice work bud:)
this is so strange...i just mentioned to someone how i saw a reference to halifax in an american movie. Anyways the reference is in a film called "The Comedy" at the very end almost Eric Wareheim is showing a picture from his childhood and it is at citadel hill. they are standing in front of a gift shop with a soldier and the sign says "Nova Scotia Museum Citadel Hill". Later on Eric says "Theres another picture from the Irish town in Canada"
the movie "against all odds" with jeff bridges (80's) had a reference around the end of the movie about lining dump trucks from "here to Nova Scotia"...or something like that. It has been a long time....lol.
I know that some provinces use three numbers first and three letters next on their license plates, particularly Quebec and British Columbia. Since I'm originally from Nova Scotia, I knew from the start that the license plate was fake as there were many errors on it, including the numbering system, bolts over the slogan, and galleon depicted as opposed to the schooner. In addition, the girl didn't seem to use a typical Canadian Maritime English/Nova Scotian accent.
I haven't watched this til the ending. Still watching. But did you include the Die Hard or Die Hard II reference? Or Malcom In The Middle? Also the Day After Tomorrow I believe mentioned NS.
The most recent few episodes of the vampire diaries and there's a show called one on one that used to play on bet all the time that mentioned pugwash Nova Scotia in a few episodes
Hey Roxner! Saw this video making huge waves on my feed, and was very suprised to see you pop up at the beginning. Here's a link to another Friends reference, the episode with Gandalf: Also, there's another Fresh Prince reference in the episode where Phil and Carlton build baby Nicky a crib. Ashley mentions it. Nice work, make more of these.
Two more: Fresh Prince talks about a crib malfunctioning that launches a baby into the air, and another Friends' episode, where they're going to party with Gandalf on a fishing boat to Nova Scotia.
Nova Scotian here too! :) The movie 'Taking Lives' which most of the movie takes place in Canada anyway, Nova Scotia is mentioned. Also, Ethan Hawk has a house here. Last season's American Horror Story Coven, a cruise to Nova Scotia is said in one episode.
There is something wrong with that Nova Scotia licence plate at 2:51. Normal plates have 3 letters first and then the 3 numbers. The plates up to and including BR were hyphenated. The plates starting with BS were were the fisrt to get the Bluenose in the centre. The new plates today starting in F have no little blue borders around the registration stickers and around the edges. All the previous ones do.
There is also another friends reference , when Chandler and Ross talk about their friend Gandalf , And how last time they woke up on a boat in NS with seals licking their face
In Ocean's Twelve when Terry Benedict is going around confronting all of the participants from the last movie Bernie Mac's character mentions Nova Scotia before he in confronted by him.
In Vanderpump Rules "Till death do us not part" episode, Staci say's her dream destination is Cape Breaton .....it's not Halifax but it's N.S.,whatup Caper's!
the whole tim eim thinking will he get malcom in the middle lol and sopranos hahaha raised in scotia from 5 till this year headed off for T dot. been here a year
Too bad halifaxlocals is gone. There was an epic thread about this topic. But here's another one that stick out in my mind, on Fresh Prince of BelAir Ashley talks about a crib malfunction that launched Nova Scotian twins into the air
BigTideFun, since I'm originally from Nova Scotia, I can easily tell that the Nova Scotian license plate from "Malcolm in the Middle" is fake. For example, the plate holes are usually below the slogan "Canada's Ocean Playground", not right on it. Furthermore, the numbering system is off as Nova Scotian license plates use the "AAA 111" format. Finally, real Nova Scotian license plates use a schooner in the middle to represent the "Bluenose", the province's iconic schooner, not a galleon.
Hi Ryan,we would love to use this video for some promo material for our school. If permitted would you mind doing a new opening that would just mention Nova Scotia and perhaps lve out Halifax. It's a great vid, Thx
There's another reference in Friends "the one where they're going to party" where Chandler talks about ending up in Nova Scotia the last time they got drunk with the party wizard. I salute you, sir, for the good work you are doing.

Vampire Diaries... Into The Wild.... The Island (the name is still unknown) is located 200 miles off the coast of Nova Scotia (Canada). It is the location where Silas and the cure were buried by the witch Qetsiyah. It first appeared in Into the Wild.
Not sure if these count but oddly enough they both involve submarines in Halifax harbour but are made up to be cities other than Halifax. K-19: The Widowmaker (2002) which used an old retired Russian sub and also The Neptune Factor (1973) which had used some footage of, as I believe, the Okanagan.
Carlie Simon sang the song

In Weeds episode 602, while in the convenience store, Andy mentions spending a summer in Nova Scotia
Season 4, episode 9 of Friends: When gandalf is coming to town and chandler is excited, he says "you'd go out for a couple of beers and end up on a fishing boat to nova scotia", "really?" - joey, "yea it's a beautiful country up there"
Simply fantastic! Great job
Season 3 of "only Murders in the Building" had numerous mentions of "upper" Nova Scotia. They were doing a play based there.
"The Hunt for Red October" opens with a map of Nova Scotia.
Since Nova Scotia is referenced often on the movies, this province definitely has considerable influence in Hollywood, television, and North American media and life.

Hey Raoul, few people have made the suggestion earlier in the comments. Just checked out that part and it was really well done haha. Poor Jason Lee.

Bernie Mac also mentions Nova Scotia in Oceans 13.
John Mayer - This will all make perfect sense someday and You're so Vain - Carly Simon both reference Nova Scotia.
