I like the idea that Cicada 3301 was solved by a bunch of puzzle nerds that left because they had no interest in pompous secret societies and just wanted to solve more puzzles.
The problem with that is the "final round" moved from online puzzle to IRL travelling, mostly around Europe. It also doesnt work to test resourcefulnes, because if youre a near homeless person in a net cafe following this stuff, you can solve it if you live in europe. If anything it encourages to depend on other people going there first and publishing the photos, which goes against what that guys of cicada mentioned to want.

The volleyball shooting is a misrembering of this Hostage shooting high school event at my older brothers school in Bailey, Colorado the school was Platte Canyon HS in 2006. I think the confusion definitely happened because Emily Keyes and a few other female students were athletes and they mentioned during the broadcasting of the standoff etc about how a few of the females played sports like Volleyball etc.

Definitely something to it, can speak from experience. My grandpa & mom were able to do it, as well as myself which I found out as a kid in a shocking way. We have a dowsing rod that's been passed down through our family for generations and my mom let me try it once when I was a kid at the grandparents house, and that stick literally dragged me across the yard and tried to pull me down to the ground at a certain spot. My mom later asked my grandpa and he said that was where the water line went through their yard. Not gonna lie, I was expecting absolutely nothing to happen, and instead it worked so well it scared the shit out of me. I used to not believe in it until we were making a well and couldn't find water so we said its worth a shot so I put two L shaped copper rods in my hands and they started moving and crossed each other on a spot we dug there and found water.

I used to live in rural TN, and we had some of that happen too. Best guess is it’s some type of magnetic differential of pockets of groundwater versus solid ground, but why does it work with wooden sticks and copper rods? She wasn’t alone in the cavern, but she was the only one that saw or heard anything despite the fact that someone was literally right behind her holding on to her dress. The endless elevator thing reminds me of one time when I was a child, entering an elevator from the second floor of this small clinic. My mom hit the floor one button, and we were on there for longer than it should have to go down one floor. When the door opened, it was like we were in some basement under construction. My mom freaked and hit door close and the first floor button again. Where we went back up in a fraction of the time it took to go down. There was a basement floor, but it looked nothing like that and was fully finished.

Living in the country, I actually did witness the “water hoses bury themselves” thing, we always had to remember to bring the hose off of the grass because if we didn’t it’s start burying itself for zero reason. Now that I think about it it does seem really weird, back when I lived in the country we kinda just all accepted it as a thing that just happens and that isn’t weird...but speaking from experience, I have had to deal with hoses that were left out for like a day, just because someone left them out, and the strangest part is even after only a day, the grass would just be wrapped around the hose in some areas.
Are you talking about the hose sinking into the dirt or the grass growing around it? Either way it really isn’t crazy. Gravity will slowly push solid objects into dirt and grass can’t grow through a water hose so if it’s underneath the hose it has to wrap around it to go up
Since this seems to be the right place for crazy conspiracies, what if the hose isn't burying itself, but the grass's roots are sucking it into the ground? Roots can and do reach towards moisture, albeit slowly 🤔
I wonder if this is a regional thing to do with soil conditions, because I have never experienced this. Maybe overgrown grass coming up around a hose, but never this self-burying phenomenon!
@@themcrib7920 it definitely is, I live in Arizona where there's little to no grass and hard dry ground beneath, and I've never even heard of this. I'm guessing it "sinks" due to conforming with the grass and leaving an impression. I don't think it's actually sinking into the ground itself.
My favourite thing about the mountains being trees thing is that when my friend first told me about it in high school, she said "so when old giant trees get really scared, they become mountains/plateaus" and it tooks me a good five minutes to realise she meant petrified.

@@Technovexno one sees the hatman while tripping. the hatman is a common hallucination off of dissociatives like dph. i do a lot of dph and have never seen him, in fact i’ve only even seen shadow people once. only hallucinations i’ve gotten have been tracers and actual people. these people are always people i know and while they do sometimes acknowledge my presence they never speak or actually interact with me.
I was into LSD for about a year and hadn't hallucinated anything crazy. I had a few posters of neon mushrooms that would melt and swirl when I looked at them bit I never saw an entity. I did DMT succesfully once and although I can't remember much I remember I had one of the best experiences of my life. No entities tho. Before I started experimenting I did research but I avoided listening to anyones descriptions of entities they encountered, in order to avoid influencing my psyche.

Out of all the theories on this list the garden hose burying itself kinda freaked me out. In some woods behind the neighborhood I live in there is a hose that goes into the ground. I think the bouvet island lifeboat has actually been solved, according to the History Channel it was left by the vessel “Slava-9” after an exploration team took the life raft to the island but got stranded for 3 days due to bad weather. They were later picked up by chopper. Edit: wasn’t the entire crew, was just an exploration team that took the life raft

As a plumbing excavator, we are always trying to locate water and sewer lines underground. I can attest that witching is a mystery but it definitely works. Not everyone can do it tho.
I was an electrician for a couple of years, and we had two 3 foot lengths of copper rods that we used as witching rods, with a little 4 inch grip turned 90 degrees for a handle on each one. Whenever we were at a customers house who didn't know where their lines were, we'd break out the rods and find them, without fail. We just lightly held them, letting them rest on the bends of our fingers with palms out, and they'd cross when we walked over the lines.
It's because of magnetic fields. And he's anyone can do it if you can't you're probably holding the rods too tight. There is no reason it wouldn't work for someone but work for someone else.

Tbh I'm not religious at all, but the "God's Last Wish" conspiracy gave me genuine goosebumps at the end of the iceberg. It's such an impactful theory from a storytelling perspective, even the phrase itself is so weirdly melancholic.
If I recall from the iceberg correctly it’s that god wanted to become human so he turned himself into all of us, so we are essentially each a piece of god.
I once had a dream similar in concept to "endless elevators". I thought it was the basis for a YA novel. I envisioned a society built on levels in some kind of pit. But no-one has ever ventured to the top of the structure, and no-one has ever been to the bottom.

My conspiracy: wendigoon was lonely. Thousands of years ago, the gods of Asgard abandoned him and left him in the realm hellheim. Soon, wendigoon grew into his modern form, he grew stronger, and grew a kickass haircut. However, he was still lonely. He desired to go Midgard to hunt the anciently powerful Golden Wendigo. Eventually, he got out of Hellheim by defeating the boss. He eventually got back to Asgard to settle unfinished business. He used the bifrost to travel back to Asgard and tricked Heimdallar (the keeper of the bifrost) because Heimdallar didn’t recognize Wendigoon because of his awesome mustache. He got through the main rings of guards, and approached his father, Odin. He took out the Leviathan Axe, and battled the boss Odin. He eventually won, using his mustache to confuse and surprise Odin. Guards rushed in, but with the power of Odin, he brushed them off easily. Suddenly, Mjollnir came crashing through the door. It barrely just missed his pelvis. He looked up to see the weilder, Thor. Son of Odin. Wendigoon responded with a throw from his Leviathan Axe, temporarily stunning Thor with a hit to his face. Being a god, Thor wouldn’t go down that easily. Thor rushed Wendigoon, cursing him for the death of his father. Thor lept on top of Wendigoon. He landed on his back. Wendigoon slammed his back against the floor, getting Thor off of him. After a long and grueling battle, wendigoon eventually defeated Thor with more axe throws. Using the bifrost, he made it to Midgard. He went to earth in a place called Alberta, and proceeded to track the golden wendigo. He found it feasting on a lost soul. With a quick and violent swing from his axe, he decapitated the monster and burned it’s heart over a blazing fire. Next, he went to the ocean. No one knows why, maybe he just wanted to see a shark. Neuroscientist here, If you ever decide to do in episode on the fractals I have a real and very cool answer supported by research for why that happens. Short answer is that these drugs sort of turn off our consciousness and we experience lower order processing. Research is done by professor David Nutt who did the study on LSD and microdosing in the UK
Researchers regularly misinterpret results because they assume consciousness to be a 'black box' of experience--unless you're using 'consciousness' colloquially in which case I'd agree. The Idealist interpretation is much simpler overall.
just commented the most stereotypical esoteric teenage approach to thinking about this but yeah the idea my friend and I started from is that on psychadelics we experience things without the conscious ability to distinguish reality from fiction, correctly or at all, and that consciousness, rationality, and concepts all represent subtractive elements in the process of interpreting reality, so the closer you get to 0 conceptual interpretation, the closer you get to reality, but by the same token, the closer you get to infinite conceptual interpretation, the closer you get to reality. Underground tunnels in Disney are a thing. They were used so that Disney characters could always be "in character" and they morphed out of the various doors that were elaborately disguised so that guests never even notice because it's not visible to the untrained eye. Also, employees need a place to change costumes, go on break, have something to eat, etc. Those things can't possibly happen above ground taking up the space of guests and the rides and endless things to do. I remember reading or hearing that the dancing plague was possibly due to a fault in the grain used to make bread for the town. (Disease, parasite, or whatever) There are some conditions that have been identified from grains (rye i believe) which can cause a burning sensation of the skin, which could cause one to dance uncontrollably. I always found the Sea Peoples interesting, from what little archeology evidence we can gather about them is that they're a loose coalition of tribes from Southern Italy and Sicily that were driven Eastward by (most likely) famine as there was a huge famine for over 100 years across the Mediterranean. The reason they were so successful was a combination of the aforementioned famine and that the were completely removed from the status quo of elite chariot warfare of the region and had far more in numbers, because of these factors they were able to eventually destroy nearly all of the bronze age civilizations (I say nearly all because Ramses II of Egypt managed to repel them and there's a famous inscription of it on an old Egyptian building). A personal theory of mine is that in the Bible, God warns the Israelites that if they were to turn away from him that he would completely destroy them, it's possible that the Sea Peoples were once a chosen people of God but rebelled against him and didn't have a prophet like Moses to intercede with God on behalf of them to not destroy them and because of this were so utterly destroyed that we know nearly nothing about them, I'm not saying I believe this but it certainly is an interesting explanation.
One of the spookiest parts about history for me is how there's so much we actually don't know. The library of Alexandria immediately comes to mind. The library was considered a pinnacle of history and record keeping. I believe certain events were recorded and kept in the library that had to be destroyed to maintain a certain status quo. That status quo is maintained to this day and the worst part is that we don't know what it is.

For instance, the siege of Wilusa (Ilion/Troy), could be taken as a raid by Sea Peoples, conducted by post-Mycenaean Hellenic groups, upon the Hittite controlled or aligned city. Also, there is evidence that the Biblical Philistines are descendants of a group of Sea Peoples, if there is a precedent for the Philistines being a fallen group of chosen people of God, then your theory may be worth more thought. I think there is a piece or two of info missing on that story, as brain damage itself would be highly unlikely barring the addition of other drugs, other external factors (like being on mushrooms and falling off a bridge). Combining psychedelics (and many state altering drugs in general) with things like SSRI/SNRI/DRI can in some cases damage serotonin and dopamine receptors or lead to serotonin syndrome.

I'm not entirely convinced with the Granite suggestion for the outer shell, Granite is pretty resistant to weathering and likely would have survived to this day, limestone would be a much quicker weathering and would explain it's modern day absence. Though I'm only talking from my knowledge of petrology, I'm not too privy to Egyptology outside of the surface level. Regardless I could not overstate how impressive they must have been in their hayday, especially with the guilded tops.

A really interesting theory for the fractals is that all human eyes are just about the same size and shape. Differences in our eyes are actually just caused by our facial structure and skin folds, and even men and women have the same size eyes. If hallucinogens act on brain chemistry, its not unlikely that they affect the optic nerve and even parts of the eyes as well. Obviously many people would perceive visuals differently due to differencing brain chemistries, but if these visual hallucinations are caused by chemical reactions in the eyes then there is a pretty solid explanation for why people see the same shapes. No explanation for the "Others" currently, but i would really like the government to let people research this stuff to see if there are differences in people without vision, people that cannot see faces, and people that see fractals when sober to determine causality.

theory: so it's known that the hunter gatherers used to be as tall as the modern man, and then people got smaller as they started eating more grains. Also people used to live in caves before starting living into houses/villages/communal spaces that they built. Maybe the whole Agartha/giants thing is just this knowledge of the first civilizations. They knew that their ancestors were taller and stronger and lived in underground caverns. They knew that they descended from a superior form of humanity, before they got domesticated by grains, which is what was universally translated into Agartha/Giants by so many civilizations, since they all followed the same transformation from hunter gatherer to farmer.
You got a source on grain making people smaller because that's weird yet reasonable enough to be true. I could also see it having to do with like some race of hominids that were like naturally 7 feet tall when they really bulked up. We have people that tall now that are body builders. And they look fucking massive. We know homosapiens are probably the result of most or all these different hominid species interbreeding. So it's also possible it's a combination of things. Like the grain thing and also there were humans who were naturally very short (where the gene of dwarfs comes from) meeting these absolutely massive 7 foot tall people. Naturally they'd call them their word for giant. And where the ideas came from got mixed up as people who were that short and that tall became more normal. So the perceived size of these giants kept getting bigger as we gained bigger expectations
@@legojay14 Look up the agricultural revolution and hunter gatherer diet. Hunter gatherers had a good diet with lots of meat and protein from eating meat and roots, so they were just as tall as modern humans. After we started growing grain, people didn't have as varied or nutritional diet and that's why they shrunk in height. You can still see it in poor countries where they don't have stuff like supermarkets to supplement their diet.

This theory fits so nicely with what we know of prehistory. Humans lacked so many nutrients on single crop diets that they left grains out to rot (fermenting beer) then drank the crusty rotten grain water for vitamins and minerals. Meanwhile hunter gatherers were still hunting and gathering with lower population numbers and more food and exercise for its people. The caves idea for these nomadic people that didn't build houses is a really nice touch too. Its really not hard to imagine that the smart little buggers that invented writing were fairly skinny and relatively short due to malnutrition and sedentarism would view hunter gatherer tribes that lived around them for thousands of years with higher quality diets as giants emerging from the ground. Even now, a 6'6" (2m) person is considered giant in parts of the world where most people are around 5'5" (1.65m) with a normal build. Add a 20% increase in muscle mass to the taller person and they're suddenly easily over twice the weight of the smaller person. That is a truly giant difference that is still seen in modern times. I don't think "GIANTS" existed like there were people that made modern Europeans look small, but rather that large people lived near small people. (Also anybody who thinks giants are tall and not absolutely jacked to become giant: look up the square cube law)

This makes me think that what if that's why some cultures see giants as these lumbering brutes and others as enlightened who (from what I've seen) typically got taken out by a higher power. It's simply a matter of how good relations were between the farmers and the hunter gatherers. In some places they hated each other cause of all the reasons humans can come up with to do that. But in others they were fine with each other until a natural disaster happened. Neither really understanding what's happening they see the hunter gatherers suffer more because naturally the main benefit of farming back then was being able to withstand disasters until things improved with food storage. Since the hunter gatherers didn't have that the farmers concluded they suffered because they obviously must've done something wrong. another thing regarding the whole city under the ground idea, I was part of a team of folks that wanted to research the nazi Antarctica theory, mostly on the "could it happen" rather than the "has it happened" we were researching various things, missing aircraft, missing ships, ships that took detours that make no sense, etc. in conclusion, most of it is very inconclusive leaving a big "maybe" to the question of could. however, what we found is that 27 german submarines just disappeared without any reason and were never found. most of them later in the war, and the vast majority of them near Iceland, the arctic circle, and the north sea. excluded are all ships that have been found or have had any plausible reason for the sinking. examples would be one submarine that had a steering problem, and another that couldn't move its periscope, both are excluded from the list since while they disappeared and never appeared again, there is a plausible mechanical fault that could have explained it. another thing that is excluded is submarines that disappeared in an area where allied forces reported sunk submarines within a week of the disappearance. those 27 boats disappeared, were never found, had no known faults, had no sinkings reported in their general area and timeframe, some of them are highly decorated vessels with a veteran crew and still they went out of port and were never heard of again. no radio messages, no sunk submarine reports, no reported accidents, no pieces of wreckage ever found (another ship was excluded because parts of one of its torpedos were discovered, which could have still been on board, which would imply a sinking.) overall: 27 u-boats are missing without trace or explanation 7 u-boats are missing with no trace but plausible explanation. 1 is missing with pieces of one of its torpedos found. 1225 crew at the absolute least (assuming minimum crew for each sub and only those with no trace or explanation included) are missing 1508 - 1803 missing in total, (variation due to varying crew capacity assuming minimum and maximum crew) of which 25 can be reasonably assumed dead, 330 - 392 are assumed dead due to plausible explanations of their boat's fate 1225-1778 are missing without reasonable confirmation of their boats sinking. the theory that was researched is that these boats traveled somewhere into the north sea, where they, assumably, found something or someone of enough interest to not return. (or lethal enough to make them disappear without a trace or warning)
In Iceland we have a lot of stories about trolls, we have 13 Santa's that visit the children 13 days before Christmas (one each night), they aren't trolls but their mother Grýla, who eats children, is, and so is their father. They live in the mountains. Supposedly. And "Icelandic trolls live in rocky mountains, deep in the uninhabitable Icelandic highlands. They like the taste of flesh and are known to lure unsuspecting humans into their caves with spells, magic potions or simply by taking them captive." It's all very wholesome.
About the divining rod theory. My dad is a carpenter and when we go to put in a deck, we have to find out where the electrical and water lines are before we dig the post. When he pulled out a pair of rods bent into an L out of his truck and started walking around with them, I thought he was crazy. Just seeing a middle aged man walking around a yard was a bit different. after a while they would cross and where they crossed he would put a flag or a marker on that spot. After he realized I was confused he handed me the rods and told me to hold them loose and walk with them out in front of me. I reached where is marker was and they crossed. I walked past it and they crossed closer to the handle until eventually going back to straight out in front of me. I dont know how it works but all I know is that we have never hit a utility in the time I have worked for him.
I used to work for an old farmer who did tile work in corn bland bean fields. He started doing this and I thought he was pulling a joke on me to make me believe him and look stupid. Nope. He found where the tile was every time. Explained it to me and got me to do it. Crazy stuff.
Very late to add to this but I lived for several years near the dog suicide bridge (in Dumbarton, Scotland). It’s a pleasant uphill walk through countryside up to a beautiful old house so one day we (and our dogs) went up there. I knew NOTHING at that time about the bridge but I remember exclaiming to my husband how much I didn’t like it and to stay away from the edge. It just had a weird feel to it (my dogs were completely unbothered). It wasn’t till years later I heard about the bridge and made the connection. Some places just feel ‘off’ whilst others (St David’s Bay in Wales being one example) can fill you with a feeling of well-being. I was always sceptical about these kind of things but actually being there I can vouch for the weirdness!
@@Beastly_Genius It was a long time ago now but from what I recall it felt very high up in the air with a very low parapet (it wasn’t) and I wanted to keep the dogs close to me and stop them going near the edge. If anything it was like the feeling you get when near a cliff edge or a vertical drop, your senses become heightened due to the danger. It’s a very unremarkable bridge set in beautiful grounds otherwise, not especially scary or noticeable and my dogs had no inclination to leap off it - it just didn’t feel ‘safe’ to me? I do want to go back one day, we don’t live there anymore but if I’m passing I’ll maybe check it out again. Just a bad vibe. Incidentally Black Rock Gorge near Evanton in Scotland had the same effect on me, one of the scariest places I’ve experienced yet makes no sense. Maybe I’m just afraid of bridges!!!

The volleyball shooting is a misrembering of this Hostage shooting high school event at my older brothers school in Bailey, Colorado the school was Platte Canyon HS in 2006. Definitely something to it, can speak from experience. My grandpa & mom were able to do it, as well as myself which I found out as a kid in a shocking way. We have a dowsing rod that's been passed down through our family for generations and my mom let me try it once when I was a kid at the grandparents house, and that stick literally dragged me across the yard and tried to pull me down to the ground at a certain spot. My mom later asked my grandpa and he said that was where the water line went through their yard. The endless elevator thing reminds me of one time when I was a child, entering an elevator from the second floor of this small clinic. My mom hit the floor one button, and we were on there for longer than it should have to go down one floor. When the door opened, it was like we were in some basement under construction. My mom freaked and hit door close and the first floor button again. Where we went back up in a fraction of the time it took to go down.

Living in the country, I actually did witness the “water hoses bury themselves” thing, we always had to remember to bring the hose off of the grass because if we didn’t it’s start burying itself for zero reason.
Now that I think about it it does seem really weird, back when I lived in the country we kinda just all accepted it as a thing that just happens and that isn’t weird...but speaking from experience, I have had to deal with hoses that were left out for like a day, just because someone left them out, and the strangest part is even after only a day, the grass would just be wrapped around the hose in some areas.
Are you talking about the hose sinking into the dirt or the grass growing around it? Either way it really isn’t crazy. Gravity will slowly push solid objects into dirt and grass can’t grow through a water hose so if it’s underneath the hose it has to wrap around it to go up

I was into LSD for about a year and hadn't hallucinated anything crazy. I had a few posters of neon mushrooms that would melt and swirl when I looked at them bit I never saw an entity. I did DMT succesfully once and although I can't remember much I remember I had one of the best experiences of my life. No entities tho. Before I started experimenting I did research but I avoided listening to anyones descriptions of entities they encountered, in order to avoid influencing my psyche.

As a plumbing excavator, we are always trying to locate water and sewer lines underground. I can attest that witching is a mystery but it definitely works. Not everyone can do it tho.
I was an electrician for a couple of years, and we had two 3 foot lengths of copper rods that we used as witching rods, with a little 4 inch grip turned 90 degrees for a handle on each one. Whenever we were at a customers house who didn't know where their lines were, we'd break out the rods and find them, without fail. We just lightly held them, letting them rest on the bends of our fingers with palms out, and they'd cross when we walked over the lines.
It's because of magnetic fields. And he's anyone can do it if you can't you're probably holding the rods too tight. There is no reason it wouldn't work for someone but work for someone else.

My conspiracy: wendigoon was lonely. Thousands of years ago, the gods of Asgard abandoned him and left him in the realm hellheim. Soon, wendigoon grew into his modern form, he grew stronger, and grew a kickass haircut. However, he was still lonely. He desired to go Midgard to hunt the anciently powerful Golden Wendigo. Eventually, he got out of Hellheim by defeating the boss. He eventually got back to Asgard to settle unfinished business. He used the bifrost to travel back to Asgard and tricked Heimdallar (the keeper of the bifrost) because Heimdallar didn’t recognize Wendigoon because of his awesome mustache. He got through the main rings of guards, and approached his father, Odin. He took out the Leviathan Axe, and battled the boss Odin. He eventually won, using his mustache to confuse and surprise Odin. Guards rushed in, but with the power of Odin, he brushed them off easily. Suddenly, Mjollnir came crashing through the door. It barrely just missed his pelvis. He looked up to see the weilder, Thor. Son of Odin. Wendigoon responded with a throw from his Leviathan Axe, temporarily stunning Thor with a hit to his face. Being a god, Thor wouldn’t go down that easily. Thor rushed Wendigoon, cursing him for the death of his father. Thor lept on top of Wendigoon. He landed on his back. Wendigoon slammed his back against the floor, getting Thor off of him. After a long and grueling battle, wendigoon eventually defeated Thor with more axe throws. Using the bifrost, he made it to Midgard. He went to earth in a place called Alberta, and proceeded to track the golden wendigo. He found it feasting on a lost soul. With a quick and violent swing from his axe, he decapitated the monster and burned it’s heart over a blazing fire. Next, he went to the ocean. No one knows why, maybe he just wanted to see a shark. Eventually, he got his wish when a octopus/shark hybrid came out of the water to meet him. They instantly fell in love. The creatures name? Sharktopus. The destroyer of worlds. They. eventually had a kid and named it Teen Sharktopus. Billions of years later when the sun started to burn off the oceans, Wendigoon said goodbye to Sharktopus, took teen Sharktopus, and summoned the bifrost that took them to god of war 4 and he defeated Kratos and his son, Loki. I've lived my whole life in Eastern Kentucky and I had no idea that people thought dousing rods were made up. I've seen it, it works. As hard as clean water is to come by in this region, people never really questioned how it worked, they were just glad for the well.

Neuroscientist here, If you ever decide to do in episode on the fractals I have a real and very cool answer supported by research for why that happens. Short answer is that these drugs sort of turn off our consciousness and we experience lower order processing. Research is done by professor David Nutt who did the study on LSD and microdosing in the UK
Researchers regularly misinterpret results because they assume consciousness to be a 'black box' of experience--unless you're using 'consciousness' colloquially in which case I'd agree. The Idealist interpretation is much simpler overall.

Underground tunnels in Disney are a thing. They were used so that Disney characters could always be "in character" and they morphed out of the various doors that were elaborately disguised so that guests never even notice because it's not visible to the untrained eye. Also, employees need a place to change costumes, go on break, have something to eat, etc. Those things can't possibly happen above ground taking up the space of guests and the rides and endless things to do. I remember reading or hearing that the dancing plague was possibly due to a fault in the grain used to make bread for the town. (Disease, parasite, or whatever) There are some conditions that have been identified from grains (rye i believe) which can cause a burning sensation of the skin, which could cause one to dance uncontrollably. I always found the Sea Peoples interesting, from what little archeology evidence we can gather about them is that they're a loose coalition of tribes from Southern Italy and Sicily that were driven Eastward by (most likely) famine as there was a huge famine for over 100 years across the Mediterranean. The reason they were so successful was a combination of the aforementioned famine and that the were completely removed from the status quo of elite chariot warfare of the region and had far more in numbers, because of these factors they were able to eventually destroy nearly all of the bronze age civilizations (I say nearly all because Ramses II of Egypt managed to repel them and there's a famous inscription of it on an old Egyptian building). A personal theory of mine is that in the Bible, God warns the Israelites that if they were to turn away from him that he would completely destroy them, it's possible that the Sea Peoples were once a chosen people of God but rebelled against him and didn't have a prophet like Moses to intercede with God on behalf of them to not destroy them and because of this were so utterly destroyed that we know nearly nothing about them, I'm not saying I believe this but it certainly is an interesting explanation.
One of the spookiest parts about history for me is how there's so much we actually don't know. The library of Alexandria immediately comes to mind. The library was considered a pinnacle of history and record keeping. I believe certain events were recorded and kept in the library that had to be destroyed to maintain a certain status quo. Most of the archeological evidence I've seen during my amateur research has indicated that Sardinians, Mycenaeans, and post-Minoan Cretans made up the largest number of the Sea Peoples. For instance, the siege of Wilusa (Ilion/Troy), could be taken as a raid by Sea Peoples, conducted by post-Mycenaean Hellenic groups, upon the Hittite controlled or aligned city. Also, there is evidence that the Biblical Philistines are descendants of a group of Sea Peoples, if there is a precedent for the Philistines being a fallen group of chosen people of God, then your theory may be worth more thought. For more on the Bronze Age Collapse and the Sea Peoples I recommend Epimetheus' Bronze Age videos as a starting point.

I think there is a piece or two of info missing on that story, as brain damage itself would be highly unlikely barring the addition of other drugs, other external factors (like being on mushrooms and falling off a bridge). Combining psychedelics (and many state altering drugs in general) with things like SSRI/SNRI/DRI can in some cases damage serotonin and dopamine receptors or lead to serotonin syndrome.

I'm not entirely convinced with the Granite suggestion for the outer shell, Granite is pretty resistant to weathering and likely would have survived to this day, limestone would be a much quicker weathering and would explain it's modern day absence. Though I'm only talking from my knowledge of petrology, I'm not too privy to Egyptology outside of the surface level. Regardless I could not overstate how impressive they must have been in their hayday, especially with the guilded tops.

A really interesting theory for the fractals is that all human eyes are just about the same size and shape. Differences in our eyes are actually just caused by our facial structure and skin folds, and even men and women have the same size eyes.
If hallucinogens act on brain chemistry, its not unlikely that they affect the optic nerve and even parts of the eyes as well. Obviously many people would perceive visuals differently due to differencing brain chemistries, but if these visual hallucinations are caused by chemical reactions in the eyes then there is a pretty solid explanation for why people see the same shapes.

theory: so it's known that the hunter gatherers used to be as tall as the modern man, and then people got smaller as they started eating more grains. Also people used to live in caves before starting living into houses/villages/communal spaces that they built. Maybe the whole Agartha/giants thing is just this knowledge of the first civilizations. They knew that their ancestors were taller and stronger and lived in underground caverns. They knew that they descended from a superior form of humanity, before they got domesticated by grains, which is what was universally translated into Agartha/Giants by so many civilizations, since they all followed the same transformation from hunter gatherer to farmer.
You got a source on grain making people smaller because that's weird yet reasonable enough to be true. I could also see it having to do with like some race of hominids that were like naturally 7 feet tall when they really bulked up. We have people that tall now that are body builders. And they look fucking massive. We know homosapiens are probably the result of most or all these different hominid species interbreeding. So it's also possible it's a combination of things. Like the grain thing and also there were humans who were naturally very short (where the gene of dwarfs comes from) meeting these absolutely massive 7 foot tall people. Naturally they'd call them their word for giant. And where the ideas came from got mixed up as people who were that short and that tall became more normal. So the perceived size of these giants kept getting bigger as we gained bigger expectations

Hunter gatherers had a good diet with lots of meat and protein from eating meat and roots, so they were just as tall as modern humans. After we started growing grain, people didn't have as varied or nutritional diet and that's why they shrunk in height. You can still see it in poor countries where they don't have stuff like supermarkets to supplement their diet.

This theory fits so nicely with what we know of prehistory. Humans lacked so many nutrients on single crop diets that they left grains out to rot (fermenting beer) then drank the crusty rotten grain water for vitamins and minerals. Meanwhile hunter gatherers were still hunting and gathering with lower population numbers and more food and exercise for its people. The caves idea for these nomadic people that didn't build houses is a really nice touch too.
Its really not hard to imagine that the smart little buggers that invented writing were fairly skinny and relatively short due to malnutrition and sedentarism would view hunter gatherer tribes that lived around them for thousands of years with higher quality diets as giants emerging from the ground. Even now, a 6'6" (2m) person is considered giant in parts of the world where most people are around 5'5" (1.65m) with a normal build. Add a 20% increase in muscle mass to the taller person and they're suddenly easily over twice the weight of the smaller person. That is a truly giant difference that is still seen in modern times. I don't think "GIANTS" existed like there were people that made modern Europeans look small, but rather that large people lived near small people.

@@brandonzzz9924 you know given what the other people are saying about the hunter gatherer diet. This makes me think that what if that's why some cultures see giants as these lumbering brutes and others as enlightened who (from what I've seen) typically got taken out by a higher power.
It's simply a matter of how good relations were between the farmers and the hunter gatherers. In some places they hated each other cause of all the reasons humans can come up with to do that. But in others they were fine with each other until a natural disaster happened.
Neither really understanding what's happening they see the hunter gatherers suffer more because naturally the main benefit of farming back then was being able to withstand disasters until things improved with food storage. Since the hunter gatherers didn't have that the farmers concluded they suffered because they obviously must've done something wrong.
How often in history even to this day do humans see something bad happen and assume that person must've done something to deserve it

My theory for fractalization is that when people experience similar events before taking drugs they experience similar events while high on the drugs. But I think it’s more fun to believe that it’s all connected and that drugs are actually awesome

another thing regarding the whole city under the ground idea, I was part of a team of folks that wanted to research the nazi Antarctica theory, mostly on the "could it happen" rather than the "has it happened" we were researching various things, missing aircraft, missing ships, ships that took detours that make no sense, etc. in conclusion, most of it is very inconclusive leaving a big "maybe" to the question of could. however, what we found is that 27 german submarines just disappeared without any reason and were never found. most of them later in the war, and the vast majority of them near Iceland, the arctic circle, and the north sea. excluded are all ships that have been found or have had any plausible reason for the sinking. examples would be one submarine that had a steering problem, and another that couldn't move its periscope, both are excluded from the list since while they disappeared and never appeared again, there is a plausible mechanical fault that could have explained it. another thing that is excluded is submarines that disappeared in an area where allied forces reported sunk submarines within a week of the disappearance. those 27 boats disappeared, were never found, had no known faults, had no sinkings reported in their general area and timeframe, some of them are highly decorated vessels with a veteran crew and still they went out of port and were never heard of again. no radio messages, no sunk submarine reports, no reported accidents, no pieces of wreckage ever found (another ship was excluded because parts of one of its torpedos were discovered, which could have still been on board, which would imply a sinking.)
overall:
27 u-boats are missing without trace or explanation
7 u-boats are missing with no trace but plausible explanation.
1 is missing with pieces of one of its torpedos found.
1225 crew at the absolute least (assuming minimum crew for each sub and only those with no trace or explanation included) are missing
1508 - 1803 missing in total, (variation due to varying crew capacity assuming minimum and maximum crew)
of which 25 can be reasonably assumed dead,
330 - 392 are assumed dead due to plausible explanations of their boat's fate
1225-1778 are missing without reasonable confirmation of their boats sinking.
the theory that was researched is that these boats traveled somewhere into the north sea, where they, assumably, found something or someone of enough interest to not return. (or lethal enough to make them disappear without a trace or warning)
Also Argentina is pretty close to Antarctica and we know for a fact a lot of Nazis escaped there

In Iceland we have a lot of stories about trolls, we have 13 Santa's that visit the children 13 days before Christmas (one each night), they aren't trolls but their mother Grýla, who eats children, is, and so is their father. They live in the mountains. Supposedly.
And "Icelandic trolls live in rocky mountains, deep in the uninhabitable Icelandic highlands. They like the taste of flesh and are known to lure unsuspecting humans into their caves with spells, magic potions or simply by taking them captive."

About the divining rod theory. My dad is a carpenter and when we go to put in a deck, we have to find out where the electrical and water lines are before we dig the post. When he pulled out a pair of rods bent into an L out of his truck and started walking around with them, I thought he was crazy. Just seeing a middle aged man walking around a yard was a bit different. after a while they would cross and where they crossed he would put a flag or a marker on that spot.
After he realized I was confused he handed me the rods and told me to hold them loose and walk with them out in front of me. I reached where is marker was and they crossed. I walked past it and they crossed closer to the handle until eventually going back to straight out in front of me. I dont know how it works but all I know is that we have never hit a utility in the time I have worked for him.
Those are responding to the ferrous metal in the pipes. It works, just not for pure water.

I used to work for an old farmer who did tile work in corn bland bean fields. He started doing this and I thought he was pulling a joke on me to make me believe him and look stupid. Nope. He found where the tile was every time. Explained it to me and got me to do it. Crazy stuff.
Very late to add to this but I lived for several years near the dog suicide bridge (in Dumbarton, Scotland). It’s a pleasant uphill walk through countryside up to a beautiful old house so one day we (and our dogs) went up there. I knew NOTHING at that time about the bridge but I remember exclaiming to my husband how much I didn’t like it and to stay away from the edge. It just had a weird feel to it (my dogs were completely unbothered). It wasn’t till years later I heard about the bridge and made the connection. Some places just feel ‘off’ whilst others (St David’s Bay in Wales being one example) can fill you with a feeling of well-being. I was always sceptical about these kind of things but actually being there I can vouch for the weirdness!

@@Beastly_Genius It was a long time ago now but from what I recall it felt very high up in the air with a very low parapet (it wasn’t) and I wanted to keep the dogs close to me and stop them going near the edge. If anything it was like the feeling you get when near a cliff edge or a vertical drop, your senses become heightened due to the danger. It’s a very unremarkable bridge set in beautiful grounds otherwise, not especially scary or noticeable and my dogs had no inclination to leap off it - it just didn’t feel ‘safe’ to me? I do want to go back one day, we don’t live there anymore but if I’m passing I’ll maybe check it out again. Just a bad vibe. Incidentally Black Rock Gorge near Evanton in Scotland had the same effect on me, one of the scariest places I’ve experienced yet makes no sense. Maybe I’m just afraid of bridges!!!
