    I have a 17 high output ram and a 17 power stroke, both with 40,000 miles and can honestly say I have never once been able to notice a regen. I had a 15 duramax and it would regen all the time, high idle it’d barely have enough brake to keep itself stopped. I did a lot of wasted driving just to let itself finish up or else I’d be screwed for the following day. I don’t know how the others get by with it, it’s like they’re more geared toward work and know people have to idle and make short trips and just let things run dirtier. The first regen on my 15 the cab filled with smoke. Ram and ford I’ve never seen a mileage drop, never smelled the smoke, never felt any heat, never heard a different sound, I’ve been impressed, it’s just not an issue like it is with GM.

      I DO do a lot of wasted driving just to get it through the regen and I absolutely hate it. If I don't, it will just keep on doing the regen process and will waste the DEF fluid. I literally have to drive about 25 extra miles at 70+ mph just to get it done.

      @@TurboMalibuV6 yep, I used to just manually put it in second gear and hold it wide open so that I could go home instead of driving around at midnight. It helped build heat. It’s a wonderful pickup but that part is pure garbage. Other brands it’s a non issue

    ‪with the newer DEF and DPF emissions parts on these trucks, (2020 silverado 6.6l diesel) , i don’t know much about diesel, How would these trucks do as a daily driver/short trip truck, (no deletes) no towing or hauling, 6 miles to work and 6 miles back home during the work week? and 30 to 40 miles on the highway every other weekend‬. i just want a big truck with a diesel engine. P.S i don’t care about the mpg or the‪ cost of diesel.‬

      I drive my truck exactly how you described. I'm in the city mostly and mine goes through an exhaust regeneration twice per tank. I took a trip from NC to FL on one tank of fuel and it never went through a regen. However, as soon as I refueled the truck it went into regen. Seems like whenever I fill it up...it regens and then again at a half a tank of fuel.

      @@TurboMalibuV6 I'm looking at the diesel strictly b/c of the mpg. It'll be mostly in town driving, almost no towing. How long does the regen take and do you see any noticeable impact on the fuel economy? Also how many miles are you getting out of a full tank?

    • @TurboMalibuV6
      @TurboMalibuV6  4 года назад +1

      @@ayegeetee Regen takes much longer while driving in town. Sometimes, it takes three 6 mile trips in town for it to complete the regen. The mileage sucks when it does regen. When I see it's doing a regen, I go out on the open highway and drive until I see the Instant MPG go back up to 24. When it is doing a regen, the MPG is 12 at about 55-60mph. Also, my best MPG on the interstate got me 646 miles on one tank of fuel. That was driving 70-75mph. Not towing. Average fuel economy was 21.8 on that trip. The truck only had 6000 miles on it. it has 9300 on it now.

    Is that displayed speed limit on you dash only int he 2019 models? I have a 17, my display looks the same, but I don't think I have that.

      Yes, that's the speed limit on that road. I'mm not sure about the earlier models. I do subscribe to Satellite Radio/Navigation.

    Ever get a burning oil smell while in regen?

    • @TurboMalibuV6
      @TurboMalibuV6  4 года назад +1

      To me, it's not like a burning oil smell. It's like an acetylene torch burning smell. The DEF fluid smells like ammonia.

    can you feel a difference in regen mode just got a 2019 is there any way to tell

    • @TurboMalibuV6

      Only at idle. My truck was optioned with a High Idle Switch so when it goes into regen mode the idle steps up to about 900rpm. Other than that, I the truck runs and drives completely normal. Also, you will get a odor out of the exhaust pipe while it burns all the smut out of the exhaust system. When it finishes, clean your tail gate....it will be smutty afterwards.

    Can’t see the numbers ...too far away. What are they and how do you tell if you’re in regen? Do you have a monitor?

    • @TurboMalibuV6
      @TurboMalibuV6  5 лет назад

      You'll have to watch the video using a higher resolution monitor or a newer smart phone. I can see the Instant MPG numbers very clearly in the video. As far as knowing if it's in regen....the cruising mileage should be about 18mpg at 75 MPH....not 11 to 12. There is no monitor to tell if it's in regen...you just have to *know your truck* to tell.

      @@natehawkins2910 Gauges scare people if they know too much information about their vehicle. I've had my share of people coming to the shop saying their car is overheating when the gauge reads higher in the Summer than the Winter.Also about oil pressure. I just hook up my scanner and it's absolutely normal temperature. Of course, this is true with *factory* OBD information; not modified vehicles. Not trying to say anything bad about you but, you should be able to see the numbers clearly. The video is 4K resolution...way higher than your phones resolution. Maybe you should zoom in the video, watch it on a computer or it just might be your eyesight. :) I'm 51yo so I know about the eyesight issue... haha. Thanks for watching.
