Great song, great movie. A master wordsmith, you could make the arguement that Eminem is the modern day equivalent of Shakespeare. His duet with Rihanna, Love the Way You Lie is also amazing.

Honestly, when Eminem first came on the scene-- I thought he was a joke. I had him painted as some goof-dick comedian rapper-- like the Weird Al of hip-hop... that white dorks would listen to and say, "Look Mom, I'm listening to rap music." And then this song broke. Holy shit! It's hard to wrap my head around it. The Weird Al of rap makes a movie about his life and creates a signature song for the film... and neither suck??? As a matter of fact... the movie had heart and was above average and the song is a literal masterpiece? What world am I living in? It's like watching a McDonald's commercial that legitimately challenges your perspective of life.

What is great about it is he is not talking about being successful, he is talking about just taking the chance. I love this song to death, but the thing that makes me lose track of it is when you hear Em taking breaths in between each bar. Once you notice them that's all you listen for. The breathing spits more bars than most rappers though so, that's fine.
That’s part of what makes it so authentic though. Most songs these days are edited to within an inch of their lives and it squeezes all the life out of them. You can tell he’s actually doing this in real time. It’s not edited. That’s mad skills right there.
