  • Dain brought Lee down for his first stay with us. This is Day 1 of their 2 night stay. Dain has taught me a bit about using lures so now I'm showing him a bit about using live bait. With Dain and Lee using live bait, I thought I'd use lure's to see which one is more successful for Barramundi. First boat to hit their bag limit or closest to their limit gets the chocolates! With the live baiters getting a little head start, it was a close race that come down to the wire. This footage was filmed in August 2024.

Great idea, cheaper than boga grips I use one of the cheaper original fish grips about $55 work well

@@ozfishwa lip grip are great I still use them, especially for teethy fish like jacks. I’ve just seen a few pairs of them take off into the water on the end of fish lips which is heartbreaking not only losing them but knowing the fish will die.

Noticed a different way of bleeding your fish at around the 23 minute mark, seemed a lot easier. Does this cut the gill rakers in a better place?

@@ozfishwa if I don’t have a kill bin in the boat, I cut 2 little slits under their bottom lip to put my fingers in for a better grip when bleeding over the side of the boat so I don’t lose the fish if it kicks. I don’t recommend using this method for fish with teeth though 😂
